If you’re over 40, you’ve probably had your fill of fashion rules. You likely grew up following certain style norms: Don’t mix black and brown, no white after Labor Day, and absolutely no mixing prints!

Well, we’re over all the rules and regulations when it comes to style, especially with regard to those guidelines on how you should be dressing at 30, 40, 50, etc. Fashion is all about self-expression, and that includes pairing together whatever colors you choose. Now, designer Ripley Rader is taking on one common outdated fashion “law.”

It’s long been the rule that navy (or any shade of blue) and black shouldn’t be worn together. Even though this “rule” has been debunked over and over again with countless chic ensembles that have combined the two beautifully, it’s still a widely-held belief. But Rader believes in the pairing so much, she even devoted one of her Instagram styling sessions to the topic.

She kicked off the reel by talking about her personal love of the navy/black color combo. “I grew up in the South,” she explained, “and they would always say it looked like a bruise, which I think is funny. But I love it, and I think it’s a really chic combination.”

In the video, she wore a pair of black wide-leg ankle-length pants with a navy turtleneck, a black oversized blazer, and white kicks. For dressier occasions, she demonstrated how to elevate the outfit by changing out the white sneakers for black heeled boots or black patent pumps. The outfit looks simple yet put-together and exudes confidence.

The same can be said for many outfits that have employed the same color pairing. Here are some of our favorites.

From the ruffled navy top down to the black combat boots and everything in between, we are smitten with this fun look!

This outfit screams comfort without losing any style points. The pleated skirt, comfy sweater, and white sneakers are pulled together with a fab Coach belt bag.

These bright blue trousers make for the perfect bold pop of color in this black-and-blue ensemble.

We love a good neutral-colored combo. A caramel-colored sweater draped over a navy top with black trousers and white Veja sneakers looks casual and amazingly chic.

Navy-and-black oversized everything? Especially when you need to bundle up for those cold, dreary winter days? Yes, please!

Kate Middleton Posts Amazing Throwback Of Her As A Baby In A Sweet Photo With Her Dad To Promote Latest Campaign https://www.suggest.com/kate-middleton-posts-amazing-throwback-sweet-photo-dad-promote-latest-campaign/2723187/ Wed, 08 Feb 2023 18:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2723187 Closeup image of Kate Middleton smiling in beige sweater against teal backdrop

Kate Middleton recently launched her latest campaign, ShapingUs, to promote early childhood development. In honor of the new program, the Princess of Wales shared a rare childhood photo of herself and her father.

The picture shows an infant Middleton reaching out to touch her father Michael’s face. “‘Faces are a baby’s best toy,’” she wrote in her caption before explaining the ShapingUs campaign to her followers.

ShapingUs was created to “raise awareness of the vital role our early years play in shaping the rest of our lives,” the princess shared. She then encouraged her followers to “spend time with your friends, families, colleagues and communities talking about your early childhoods and how they’ve shaped your lives.”

“I hope you’ll also consider joining me in sharing a picture of yourselves before your fifth birthday to help with those conversations and to share some smiles and memories too,” she concluded.

The new campaign is part of Middleton’s ongoing work in the world of early childhood development. In a statement provided by Buckingham Palace, Middleton explained why this has become her passion project.

“The way we develop, through our experiences, relationships, and surroundings during our early childhood, fundamentally shapes our whole lives,” she said.

“It affects everything from our ability to form relationships and thrive at work, to our mental and physical well-being as adults and the way we parent our own children.”

Middleton called on others to help “build a supportive, nurturing world around the youngest members of our society and those caring for them” in an effort to create a better world for future generations.

“All of society has a role to play in this, even if you are not directly involved in a child’s life, because we are all responsible for building a more compassionate world in which our children can grow, learn and live,” the Duchess of Cambridge continued.

“In these difficult times, it is more important than ever to help support parents and caregivers provide loving, safe, and secure homes for their babies and young children to thrive.”

Middleton is extremely passionate about her work in the world of childhood development and is hard at work to provide support for caregivers and parents. Her latest campaign is just one more way that she’s working to raise awareness about this important stage in a child’s life.

Gwyneth Paltrow Takes An Amazing Trip Down Memory Lane With A Video In Her Closet Of All Her ’90s Fashion https://www.suggest.com/gwyneth-paltrow-takes-amazing-trip-down-memory-lane-video-closet-nineties-fashion/2723160/ Wed, 08 Feb 2023 17:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2723160 Gwyneth Paltrow smiles in nude dress with floral appliques against blue patterned backdrop

Gwyneth Paltrow has one of the most enviable closets in Hollywood, and she recently highlighted some of the more memorable pieces in a video for her lifestyle brand, Goop. From red carpet accessories to the dress she wore when Brad Pitt proposed, Paltrow shared some of her most special fashion items.

In the video, Paltrow showed off the storage facility where she keeps all of her clothes and accessories. “I pull things from this closet every once in a while,” she explained. “It’s really, like, if I need something special, or things that I just love that I’m saving for myself if things come back in style or for Apple [her 18-year-old daughter].”

Some of the most notable looks came from the ’90s, when Paltrow was one of the biggest trendsetters in Hollywood. One dress she pulled out was a white Calvin Klein shirt dress.

“[It’s] very ’90s,” Paltrow said of the dress, which she wore to the 1996 premiere of The Pallbearer. “It’s slouchy, it’s relaxed. It’s giving that very ’90s ‘I don’t give a f*ck.’”

Paltrow also showed off some red carpet accessories, including the light pink Manolo Blahnik heels she wore to the 1999 Oscars ceremony. That year, Paltrow won the Oscar for Best Actress for her performance in Shakespeare in Love

Another ’90s item shown was a Christian Dior brown suede slip dress that she wore “when [she] had brown hair. A real look at the time,” Paltrow laughed. The actress also showed off a red Gucci suit from the 1996 MTV Movie Awards that she said she’s worn “many, many times.”

One of the items viewers loved seeing was the dress Paltrow said she was wearing when Pitt proposed to her. The pair was together from 1994 to 1997 and got engaged when she was 24 years old.

“We were in Italy,” Paltrow remembered as she looked at the floral, long-sleeve dress. “We climbed up to, like, a roof-deck thing and he surprised me!” She and Pitt eventually split, with Paltrow saying she was not ready to be married.

Fans of Paltrow’s ’90s fashion sense loved getting a closer look at some of the most memorable pieces from her extensive wardrobe. Who knows? Maybe we’ll see Apple rocking these pieces in the future!

Get To Know Trixie Mattel’s Boyfriend, David Silver https://www.suggest.com/trixie-mattel-boyfriend-david-silver/2722818/ Wed, 08 Feb 2023 15:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2722818 David Silver (L) and Trixie Mattel posing in dark room

The name Brian Michael Firkus might not sound familiar. However, you may recognize him by his stage name, Trixie Mattel.

Firkus, a performer who is a drag queen, singer, and TV personality, has created a character in Mattel that is memorable for her voluminous blond tresses, dramatic black-and-pastel eye makeup, flamboyant outfits, and delightfully campy aura.

Mattel’s empire has continued to flourish and grow, extending to a YouTube channel and a cosmetics collection. She has sometimes collaborated with another drag queen, Katya Zamolodchikova. Their camaraderie led to the publication of a New York Times best-selling book, Trixie and Katya’s Guide to Modern Womanhood (2020).

David Silver has been at Mattel’s side throughout her ascent to stardom as a boyfriend, staunch ally, collaborator, and rock to lean upon. Here’s what we know about Trixie Mattel’s real-life love.

Who Is David Silver?

David Silver is a film and TV producer who was a production assistant for Batman Begins (2005) starring Christian Bale and Katie Holmes and The Break-Up (2006) with Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston.

Silver was a producer for Kittie: Spit In Your Eye (2000) with Fallon Bowman and executive producer for Please Baby Please (2022), whose cast included Demi Moore and Andrea Riseborough.

Mattel And Silver Have Been Dating Since 2016

Sometimes, the pair gives fans a peek into their lives with snaps of their trips and activities on their Instagram accounts. Silver might even drop in on one of Mattel’s YouTube videos from time to time for a cameo appearance.

In 2020, Mattel confided to 48 Hills how she feels about Silver. “I love my boyfriend. He’s really my world and he comes on tour and stays on the bus with me.”

She also mentioned that she’s “pretty private” about him. “I don’t post a lot of pictures, but I definitely write songs about him.”

They’ve Collaborated On Several Creative Projects Together

Silver was the executive producer for Mattel’s 2019 Netflix documentary, Trixie Mattel: Moving Parts, which revealed some aspects of their relationship.

As The WOW Report stated, Mattel summed up the essence of the film succinctly: “It’s a lot of what happens in the other 23 hours in a day of being a drag queen.”

Mattel admits that she was a bit wary of working so closely with the man in her life. She told The WOW Report, “Originally, I don’t like to work with anybody that I have a relationship with, but my manager at the time and David both came to me separately and said, ‘You should do a film about this section of your life because so many things are happening.’”

In the end, working with Silver turned out to be a great move. Mattel seemed very pleased with the result, even though being observed during awkward or personal moments while filming it wasn’t always easy for her.

“This is you in a cab with me, in a shower with me, backstage with me. Everywhere. I never once asked them to leave the room or stop filming. You got the best and worst of it. But there really were some moments where I’m watching it back, like, this is magical.”

In 2022, Mattel told The Cinemaholic that she lovingly wanted Moving Parts to be a major artistic triumph for Silver, rather than just a vehicle to make herself and her brand even more famous. Silver was actually one of the first people who encouraged Mattel to make a documentary about herself.

“Our relationship has been five years…of watching all my dreams come true,” Brian [Mattel] said, “…and this project is one of David’s dreams that I really, really want to see come true.”

Silver was an executive producer and starred as himself in Trixie Motel (2022), a Discovery+ reality TV show that depicted his and Mattel’s latest splashy adventure: renovating the run-down Ruby Montana’s Coral Sands Inn in tony Palm Springs, California, by imbuing it with outrageous, Trixie Mattel-style decor.

This project wasn’t any old fixer-upper, however. Silver and Mattel reportedly sunk a cool $2 million into the endeavor, according to Entertainment Weekly

Thanks to Mattel, there was tons of over-the-top extravagance, plenty of wacky whimsy, and help from a bunch of famous folks like Lisa Vanderpump and Iggy Azalea. Voila—the perfect site for a glam getaway!

Mix it all together and you have  a reality TV feast that was co-produced by Jonathan and Drew Scott of Property Brothers renown.

Mattel explained to Entertainment Weekly how the idea for the project suddenly popped into her and Silver’s minds. “My partner and I were watching A Very Brady Renovation during COVID, and we had a joke about a ‘Trixie Motel’ because of the play on the words. Then we were like, what if we actually did?”

She added, “I’m a drag queen. This motel is the ultimate stunt that no other drag queen or other celebrity would even attempt because it’s psycho. It’s psychotic to do this,” Mattel joked.

Mattel clearly took great pride in the whole effort from start to finish. It was probably even more special to her because she and Silver did it together. “We thought of something brilliant, we pursued it, and this is going to be the most lit thing that’s ever existed.”

Trixie Mattel and David Silver are successfully sharing their lives and careers. With Silver’s support and creative input, Mattel has risen to new heights of fame, fortune, and fantasy. We certainly want to see what this talented celebrity couple dreams up next!

Here’s Why We Think Ken Jennings’ Net Worth Is Far Higher Than $4 Million https://www.suggest.com/ken-jennings-net-worth/2723004/ Wed, 08 Feb 2023 13:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2723004 screenshot of Ken Jennings hosting Jeopardy! in a gray suit

Ken Jennings is arguably the most famous game show contestant in the world. He holds the record for most games won on Jeopardy!, and he’s won a wild amount of money on four other game shows. Additionally, Jennings lives a fairly frugal lifestyle, and he’s maintained a steady income even after acquiring his massive winnings. Yet, despite Jennings’ lucrative circumstances, some estimate his net worth to be only $4 million. Here’s why that just doesn’t sit right with us.

Jennings Won Over $4.5 Million On ‘Jeopardy!’

To fully understand Jennings’ net worth, we need to start with the show that made him famous. In 2004, Jennings made his first appearance on Jeopardy!. The former software engineer dominated for 74 consecutive games, taking home $2.52 million during that time—he currently holds the record for most money won in regular season play. However, his Jeopardy! career wouldn’t end there.

Jennings returned to the show later that year for the 2004 Ultimate Tournament of Champions. He ultimately lost to contestant Brad Rutter, taking home $500,000 for second place. Jennings and Rutter went on to compete against each other once again in 2011, this time battling against IBM’s Watson supercomputer. Jennings took victory over Rutter but wasn’t able to defeat Watson. He received $300,000 for second place and pledged to donate half of his winnings to charity.

Just four years later, Jennings returned to the Jeopardy! stage for the show’s Battle of the Decades tournament. Jennings once again finished second to Rutter, taking home $100,000. There’s just no keeping Jennings away from America’s favorite game show, though. In 2019, Jennings finished second in the Jeopardy! All-Star Games, winning another $100,000. Finally, in 2020, Jennings won the Greatest of All Time Jeopardy! tournament, earning a whopping $1 million.

Throughout his entire competitive Jeopardy! career, Jennings won a total of $4,522,700. His earnings are second only to Brad Rutter, who won $4,938,436 during his time on Jeopardy!.

He Has Earned Over $700,000 On Four Other Game Shows

Jennings didn’t isolate his game show aspirations to just Jeopardy!, though. In 2006, Jennings appeared on NBC’s 1 vs. 100, although he only earned about $700. In 2007, he competed on Grand Slam, taking home the grand prize of $100,000. The following year, he won $500,000 on Are You Smarter Than Fifth Grader?. Finally, Jennings appeared on Who Wants to be a Millionaire in 2014, winning another $100,000.

In total, Jennings won $700,000 from other game shows. Taking into consideration his Jeopardy! winnings, Jennings amassed more than $5.2 million in game show earnings during his competitive career, making him the highest-earning American game show contestant in history.

His Salary As ‘Jeopardy!’ Co-Host Is Harder To Determine

Of course, these days Jennings commands the Jeopardy! stage not as a champion but as its host. In July of 2022, Jennings was officially named as one of Alex Trebek’s successors, taking over the day-to-day hosting duties of standard broadcasts and tournaments.

As you might expect, salaries are a bit more confidential than widely-publicized game show earnings. It isn’t certain how much Jennings earns for each Jeopardy! episode. However, The Guardian reported in 2019 that Trebek made $10 million a year for hosting the show. The Hollywood Reporter also revealed that Dr. Oz earned $268,000 for his two-week guest hosting gig, all of which he reportedly donated to charity.

We’re certain Jennings doesn’t earn as much as Trebek, but we trust that he’s paid well for the position. Some sources report Jennings makes as much as $75,000 per episode. As there are about 230 Jeopardy! episodes every year and Jennings has been splitting hosting duties with Mayim Bialik, that rate would turn into about $8 million a year. However, that figure is impossible to verify, and it’s likely quite a bit less than that.

Anyone claiming to know exactly what Jennings is being paid is almost certainly lying as the matter is highly confidential. What is for certain though is that Jeopardy! is a ratings powerhouse, and Jennings will likely see his salary grow the longer he holds the position.

He’s A Published Author

If you were expecting Jennings to reserve his brilliant mind for game shows, you’d be mistaken! The trivia master has published multiple books expanding on his deep well of random knowledge. According to Jennings’ website, he actually kept his day job as a programmer all the way through his Jeopardy! streak. However, when he got his first book deal, he then decided that a change in career was in order.

In 2006, Jennings published his first book titled Brainiac: Adventures in the Curious, Competitive, Compulsive World of Trivia Buffs. The book journeys through both the evolution of trivia and Jennings’ own experiences as a competitor.

In 2008, Ken Jennings’s Trivia Almanac: 8,888 Questions in 365 Days—the single largest collection of trivia questions ever compiled. He dipped his toes into geography with his 2011 book Maphead and investigated the origins of old wives’ tales in his 2012 book Because I Said So!.

He published a series of informative kids books in 2014 called The Junior Genius Guides and turned his inquisitive eye on comedy in his most recent book, Planet Funny. Prior to landing his hosting gig on Jeopardy! Jennings considered himself a full-time freelance writer, and he has yet another book scheduled to hit shelves in June titled 100 Places to See After You Die: A Travel Guide to the Afterlife.

He’s Co-Hosted The ‘Omnibus’ Podcast Since September 2017

If idle hands are the devil’s playthings, then count Ken Jennings safe from corruption. In addition to hosting Jeopardy! pretty much full-time, the trivia  wiz also co-hosts a podcast titled Omnibus with his friend and fellow Seattleite John Roderick. For those unfamiliar with the term, omnibus refers to a volume containing several other novels or published works.

So, similar to the massive tomes it takes its name from, the Omnibus podcast aims to compile “an encyclopedic reference work of strange-but-true stories” to serve as a “time capsule for future generations,” per the project’s website.

The pair started the project in 2017, and they currently release two episodes a week. They also offer Patreon tiers ranging anywhere from $5 to $100 per month. Per their Patreon profile, the operation brings in $11,872 a month. Jennings could be earning as much as $5,936 from the podcast every month. Although, a good portion of that likely gets eaten up by production costs.

He Lives A Modest Lifestyle

Some might expect someone with Jennings’ wealth to live a high-roller lifestyle, but that assumption couldn’t be farther from the truth. The Seattle native has been a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His Mormon faith even led him to dedicate two years of his young adulthood working as a missionary in Madrid, Spain.

He regularly donates 10% of his income to the church, a practice known as “tithing,” and credits his faith with helping him stay grounded. According to Jennings, he didn’t even purchase a new car with his winnings as so many of us would. He told the Washington Post that he drove the same Toyota Corolla for years after Jeopardy! because it got him where it needed to go.

“I had this very kind of strong pioneer-era Western ethos of like, wealth is not just immoral, but it is a little bit unseemly,” Jennings told the publication. He wrote on his website that he doesn’t drink alcohol, although he garnered an extensive knowledge of spirits while studying for Jeopardy!.

He still lives in Seattle, sharing a home with his wife of 22 years, Mindy. They have two children, a son born in 2002 and a daughter born in 2006. Jennings will likely need to shell out a pretty penny for college educations, although we don’t see that making too big of a dent in his wealth.

We Think His Net Worth Is Likely Much Higher Than $4 Million

Ok, let’s recap. Jennings had more than $5 million in game show winnings—about $4 million once you shave off taxes. He has published nine books in total, which certainly made him more than a couple of bucks. He recently made another book deal, and he earns an easy few thousand a month from his podcast. All of that is before noting his Jeopardy! hosting gig, which likely earns him a few million dollars a year.

He once said that his most extravagant purchases post-Jeopardy! were his home in Seattle and a big-screen TV. He also notes on his website that most of the money went right into stocks, bonds, and real-estate. “I don’t want to be one of these lottery winners you see bankrupt on TV a few years later,” he wrote. If he invested wisely, and chances are that he did, he could have multiplied his wealth a few times over by now.

Yet, despite Jennings’ many, many money-making pursuits, sites like Celebrity Net Worth estimate Jennings’ net worth to be only $4 million. Now, we are no mathematicians, but that figure seems fishy at best. It looks like these sources are only really accounting for his game show winnings rather than all of his activities after that.
Unfortunately, we have no way of truly confirming our suspicions. Given Jennings’ modest lifestyle, he is one of the last public figures you’ll see flaunting his wealth. Although, those Jeopardy! paychecks are just going to keep stacking up. As it stands today, though, Jennings’ true net worth is between him, his family, and the IRS.

Is This Viral Potato Fireworks Recipe Brilliant, Or Have We Finally Taken Potatoes Too Far? https://www.suggest.com/viral-tiktok-potato-fireworks-recipe/2722857/ Wed, 08 Feb 2023 12:10:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2722857 Two steps in making viral TikTok recipe "firework potatoes"

As a Midwesterner, I feel like I’m an expert when it comes to potatoes and all the amazing things you can do with them in the kitchen. From whipping boiled taters into a creamy mash with plenty of butter to frying shoestring fries in hot grease, this yummy starch is an essential element of my weekly dinner recipe rotation.

So imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon a potato recipe I’d never actually seen before. The end result of this viral TikTok recipe for “potato fireworks” is undeniably beautiful, but is the recipe itself genius or too over-the-top? We’ll leave it up to you to decide whether or not it’s worth the hassle of preparing.

The short video provides a quick tutorial that begins with cutting one large potato into two cubes. The next step is to make a series of deep vertical cuts in each cube, then turn them 90 degrees to make another round of cuts, being sure to avoid completely slicing through the cubes. This slicing technique is key for perfecting the look of your “fireworks.”

Once you’ve sliced your cubes, dissolve a teaspoon of salt in a bowl of room-temperature water and allow your potatoes to soak for 30 minutes before rinsing. Coat the cubes with cornstarch, then deep fry them at roughly 350 degrees Fahrenheit until golden (the comments recommend air frying as a comparable alternative).

Finally, you’ll make your sauce with a teaspoon of ketchup, two teaspoons of soy sauce, three teaspoons of sugar, four teaspoons of black vinegar, and five teaspoons of “water from the Mississippi River” (that’s just a channel in-joke; any type of water will do). Cook on the stovetop until bubbling, then pour the sauce mixture evenly over the cooked potatoes, topping off with some white sesame seeds. “Done and dusted!”

The TikTok creator ends his video by telling viewers that these potato fireworks are “out of this world,” and I have to agree. This cooking method, while involved, is a fun new way to make potatoes that I didn’t know I needed. Honestly, it might just leave plain ol’ french fries and ketchup in the dust.

Your Daily Horoscope: February 8, 2023 https://www.suggest.com/daily-horoscope-february-8-2023/2722882/ Wed, 08 Feb 2023 11:15:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2722882 Daily horoscope 2/8

This Wednesday, the Moon begins to wane as it directly opposes Venus under Pisces in the 6th House of Health. The Moon flies through the 12th House of Self-Undoing under Virgo, indicating a propensity to ignore our emotional or physical needs for pride, professionalism, or both. Consequently, we must be particularly aware of whether we’re bottling our feelings or expelling them healthily.

What do the stars have in store for your sign today?

Aries

Mar 21 – Apr 19

Don’t underestimate your ability to get in your own way, Aries. As convenient as it would be for this situation to be everyone else’s fault, that just isn’t how things work. You have a role to play in this scene, whether large or small.

Taurus

Apr 20 – May 20

People will continue to take advantage of you as long as you let them, Taurus. While it might seem uncomfortable at first, placing firm boundaries on your time and energy is necessary to keep yourself happy, healthy, and sane.

Gemini

May 21 – Jun 20

An unusual dilemma calls for an unusual solution. Indeed, this problem likely isn’t as unsolvable as you think. The issue is that you haven’t tried looking for solutions outside of the box. Turn your perspective upside down, Gemini.

Cancer

Jun 21 – Jul 22

The universe offers up plenty of distractions today, but you mustn’t let them faze you. Take extra time to consider your answers before responding, and be sure to weigh all your options before moving forward. Proceed with caution, Cancer.

Leo

Jul 23 – Aug 22

No one is right about everything 100 percent of the time, Leo—not even you. Whether or not you were correct isn’t what’s important. On the contrary, the real test is how you recover and learn from your missteps.

Virgo

Aug 23 – Sep 22

When you put your heart and soul into your career or external projects, your sense of self can become inextricably linked to those endeavors’ success. But you are far more than your accomplishments, Virgo. Don’t forget that.

Libra

Sep 23 – Oct 22

Identifying disparities or bad habits in our daily routine can be difficult even for the most observant of us, Libra. Make sure you’re giving yourself grace as you continue down your path of self-improvement and growth.

Scorpio

Oct 23 – Nov 21

The longer you ignore this problem, the longer it will continue to rear its head when you least expect it. Clearly, this approach hasn’t been working. So, what makes you think it will produce different results this time, Scorpio?

Sagittarius

Nov 22 – Dec 21

When you care for and respect yourself wholeheartedly, you’ll begin to attract others who do the same. Alternatively, constantly engaging in or surrounding yourself with self-talk will inevitably cause this energy to linger around your psyche.

Capricorn

Dec 22 – Jan 19

Giving someone the cold shoulder might be the easy option, but certainly, you can appreciate that it’s hardly the most productive one. Telling someone they hurt you requires a vulnerability that can be uncomfortable. But it’s well worth it, Cap.

Aquarius

Jan 20 – Feb 18

Owning up to our negative behavior can feel embarrassing, but these feelings are actually a good sign. It shows that you are aware of the changes you need to make. And that’s often the most difficult part, Aquarius.

Pisces

Feb 19 – Mar 20

Don’t be afraid to dig a little deeper into this relationship, Pisces. You won’t find the answers you seek by hiding from them. The stars are offering some communicative encouragement today and tomorrow. Use it to your advantage.

This $18M ‘Invisible Home’ Owned By ‘American Psycho’ Producers Gives Serious Patrick Bateman Vibes https://www.suggest.com/invisible-house-american-psycho-producers/2722133/ Tue, 07 Feb 2023 23:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2722133 photo of the Invisible House, a rectangular home covered in rectangular reflective window panels in the desert with a cutout of Christian Bale in American Psycho

The stark, unsettling scenes of cult film classics like American Psycho and The Virgin Suicides were made in part by famed producers Chris and Roberta Hanley. And in partnership with architect Tomas Orsinski, the couple created a stunning desert home that mirrors their projects’ stoic, offbeat nature.

Nestled in the desert of Joshua Tree, California, the 5,500-square-foot home is a striking rectangular structure covered entirely in mirrored windows. Its glass walls reflect the desert scenery back at the viewer, earning it the nickname “The Invisible House.” And now, Aaron Kirkman and Matt Adamo of AKG have listed the house for a cool $18 million.

Will we be making an offer? Probably not. Will we be perusing the listing as though we ever would? Yes. And does the house of the American Psycho producers give off serious Patrick Bateman vibes? Also yes.

A Space Odyssey In The Desert

The Hanleys and Orsinski did have a film in mind when they created their multi-million dollar invisible home. But it wasn’t American Psycho. According to TopTenRealEstateDeals, the sci-fi classic 2001: A Space Odyssey inspired this futuristic house. And indeed, stepping up to this incredible structure must feel similar to approaching a spacecraft.

The home’s listing states that the house “directly connects inhabitant with the environment through a mirrored glass exterior that seamlessly bridges the gap between indoor and outdoor space, masking itself as an indistinguishable component of the dramatic, rocky, desert landscape” Joshua Tree is famous for.

Just as the mirrored exterior allows nature to be the star of the show from the outside, the breathtaking glass walls extend this concept from the inside, bringing the desert scenery directly into the home itself.

Exploring The Interior

Thanks to its rectangular shape, the Invisible House’s 3-bedroom, 4-bathroom floor plan is fairly simple to follow. While there is plenty of privacy to enjoy in this roomy abode, each living space naturally flows into the next. Similarly, sliding glass doors throughout the home allow a seamless transition from indoors to nature.

The Invisible House also boasts a world-class chef’s kitchen with dual ovens, separate refrigerator and freezer storage, white marble surfaces, concrete flooring, and sleek, minimalist lines. Rocky desert formations stretch up just outside the kitchen windows, making you feel like you’re cooking dinner in the desert (minus the bugs and wind).

The roomy bedrooms feature gorgeous en suites with 5-star-resort-inspired bath features. (Because if you’re building an $18 million home, it better be worthy of a 5-star resort.) The primary suite includes a bath with a soaking tub, floating vanities, a rain shower, and, of course, stunning desert views around every corner.

Keep Things Cool With An Indoor Pool

The desert is infamous for its dramatic temperature swings—frigidly cold at night and swelteringly hot during the day. But that’s nothing future Invisible Homeowners will have to worry about, thanks to a luxurious, 100-foot swimming pool. The pool area offers ambient lighting that both “illuminates the landscape and communicates with the constellations above,” the home’s listing reads.

The pool is capped by a 224-square-foot projection wall perfect for screening films (this was the home of two film producers, after all). If anyone has a better idea for a more lavish pool and movie party, we’re all ears.

Finally, if you somehow get the urge to leave this modern work of art, there’s plenty to do around Joshua Tree, too. The Invisible House’s 67.5-acre plot is bordered by Section 5 Federal National Park land and a Section 6 BLM, gated nature and tortoise reserve. You can truly immerse yourself in nature in every sense of the word.

A Home With Some Star Power

If this house looks vaguely familiar, you’re not going crazy. The gorgeous home has made cameos in numerous film projects and was even featured on Netflix’s The World’s Most Amazing Vacation Rentals when it was available on Airbnb with a $2,500 per-night price tag.

And it isn’t just the house itself that boasts serious star power—the whole desert has a long history of housing stars, rockers, and other pop culture icons. The Joshua Tree area is a well-known pilgrimage for artists of little and global fame, from working artists seeking affordable studios outside of Los Angeles to rock legends like Jim Morrison, Keith Richards, and Bono.

There’s no doubt that the Invisible House exudes a stark sense of extravagant wealth and cool minimalism all within the backdrop of the notoriously harsh, unforgiving desert. We can’t help but compare this home’s attributes with that of American Psycho‘s leading man and murderer, Patrick Bateman. But hey, it’s just a movie, right? Maybe just double-check that there are no plastic suits hanging up in the closet before you make your final offer.

You’ve Probably Never Heard Of This Underrated Dairy Product That’s Tastier And Healthier Than Greek Yogurt https://www.suggest.com/quark-dairy-product-nutrition-overview/2722805/ Tue, 07 Feb 2023 22:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2722805 Close-up of homemade quark cheese

Our love affair with dairy is a complicated thing. You’ve likely been warned before that dairy products pose a risk of heart disease and consequently cautioned to think twice before snacking on that block of cheddar. Yet research has begun to suggest that dairy may in fact be good for your heart rather than harmful, which has dairy lovers heaving sighs of relief.

In fact, some studies indicate that consuming saturated fats from dairy products may be linked to higher HDL (“good cholesterol”) and lower triglyceride levels. Even with all this gouda news, researchers still advise eating dairy in moderation and choosing low-fat and low-sugar varieties.

So with that in mind, you might be wondering which dairy products are the best bang for your buck, nutrition-wise. One such product that gets little attention is quark.

What Is Quark?

Despite being somewhat difficult to categorize, quark’s smooth, soft, crumbly texture is similar to that of other cheeses. It’s made by fermenting a mixture of cheese and yogurt cultures in warm milk and straining out the whey.

Quark’s consistency is somewhere between cottage cheese, a thick Greek yogurt, and cream cheese, and its taste is similar to that of mildly sour cream cheese. Although it has a tanginess to it, it’s not as tart as Greek yogurt.

Originally from Europe, quark is especially popular in Germany but has begun to gain popularity in the U.S. due to its substantial health benefits.

The Health Benefits of Quark

Aside from being delicious, this soft, savory spread is bursting with nutrition. As a low-fat product that’s also a good source of protein, calcium, and probiotics, quark is worthy of being included in anyone’s diet.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, a ½ cup serving of quark contains the following nutrients:

  • 90.2 calories
  • 11 g protein
  • 3 g fat
  • 5 g carbs
  • 0 g sugars
  • 29.7 mg sodium
  • 80.3 mg calcium

Plus, the generous amount of probiotics found in quark help with improving digestion, regulating healthy bacteria in the gut, and boosting immunity.

But what truly sets it apart from its cheesy cousins is its low sodium levels. It contains half as much sodium as Greek yogurt and would make an excellent alternative to that, cottage cheese, or ricotta. If you’re watching your salt intake, quark is the way to go!

Tasty Ways To Enjoy Quark

Quark is an extremely versatile food, giving you many possible ways to enjoy it. You might choose to simply swap it with your daily Greek yogurt, topping it with all your favorite add-ins like granola, jam, and fruit. Or you could enjoy it on its own or as an accompaniment to your favorite dishes, treating it as a dip.

As a high-protein food, quark would also make an excellent pre- or post-workout snack, satiating your appetite while building and repairing muscle.

If you prefer to use quark as a spread, you can smother it on a slice of crusty bread, toast, or a bagel for a mouthwateringly delicious snack. There are endless options for incorporating this healthy cheese into your diet, all of which will leave you and your taste buds satisfied.

Howard Stern’s Daughter, Emily, Is Something Of A Renaissance Woman: Find Out About Her Artistic Pursuits https://www.suggest.com/emily-beth-stern-howard-stern-daughter/2722741/ Tue, 07 Feb 2023 21:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2722741 Screenshot of Emily Stern smiling in blue patterned top

Howard Stern dubbed himself “King of All Media,” and that’s not just empty swagger. He has achieved tremendous success on radio with The Howard Stern Show, in publishing, with films, and on television.

One of Stern’s daughters, Emily Beth Stern, is a talented and accomplished artist who has chosen a uniquely different path from her famous father’s. Emily’s admirers are eager to learn more about her life and career. Here is the scoop on this gifted woman.

Emily Is Howard Stern’s Eldest Daughter

Howard Stern has three daughters—Emily, Deborah, and Ashley—from his first marriage to Alison Berns. The couple married in 1978, separated in 1999, and divorced in 2001.

Emily is the eldest of the three. She was born on May 7, 1983, in New York.

She Studied Theatre At New York University

Emily graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, but her dreams of a career as an actress hit an unexpected snag.

She landed the role of Madonna in an off-off-Broadway play, Kabbalah, at the Triad Theater on W. 73rd Street in 2005. Emily was reportedly so thrilled about the opportunity that she dyed her dark hair blond to resemble the Material Girl more closely. She also went nude, the New York Post reported.

The production got negative reviews and attracted few theater-goers. To lure larger audiences, director Tuvia Tenenbom allegedly exploited Emily’s connection to Howard Stern and a non-consensually filmed video of a scantily clad Emily during a rehearsal.

Emily left the show after six weeks. She was backed up by Howard’s lawyers, the Post reported. “I told the director, ‘Don’t advertise who I am.’ He manipulated my love for the show for his gain,” Emily said.

Tenenbom had a very different take on the situation. He told the New York Daily News that Emily is a “Jewish-American princess” and Howard is “a psycho.”

He allegedly said he had not exposed Emily’s relationship to Howard and that it was actually made public on two websites for Howard Stern’s fans. Tenenbom also claimed that Howard deterred Emily from appearing in the play.

Tenebom argued that Emily said, “My father basically told me that if I take the role [which requires her to be on stage nude for the last 10 minutes], that his enemies would buy blocks of tickets, throw garbage at my vagina, take nude pictures of me and put them all over the Internet.”

She’s A Singer

Emily released an album called Birth Day in 2012. Her website explained that she drew upon the sounds of nature, such as rain storms and bird songs: “After exploration with a band, Emily came to realize the natural world was the only thing wild enough to come close to where these songs were born in her.”

She’s Studying To Become A Rabbi

Emily’s Instagram bio describes her as a rabbinical student. In an interview with The Jewish Journal in 2008, she seemed to be at peace with herself and what she was doing at that time.

Emily said that she combined Jewish religious practices with Transcendental Meditation, which “her family had practiced since she was young.”

She also studied the use of Balinese masks in theatrical contexts, wrote songs that she recorded and performed, appeared in a musical, Earth Sucks, and attended a Jewish renewal synagogue.

Emily had long felt connected to her Jewish heritage, according to an archived post from Jew in the City, but “the ritual element was always missing.” She evidently found what she was seeking in Orthodox Judaism.

She experienced a stunning moment of clarity when she happened upon a Havdalah ceremony at a yoga studio. A Jewish Renewal Havdalah is a religious ceremony at the conclusion of the Shabbat, or day of rest, on Saturday that also heralds a new week.

That ceremony resonated deeply with Emily and catalyzed a new, even stronger sense of connection with her Jewish faith.

Emily’s recommitment to her religion was not greeted with “too much pushback,” as Jew in the City phrased it, from her relatives and others close to her. They apparently respected her for embarking upon a spiritual journey that was so meaningful to her.

An incident that gave Emily pause occurred in Israel, when her mother watched her praying and voiced concern about “losing her daughter” (per Jew in the City).

Emily kept uniting her artistry with her spiritual and religious faith. She joined an art fellowship at the Drisha Institute for Jewish Education in New York. While she was there, she authored a play.

Emily also was inspired to study the Torah (the first five books of the Hebrew Bible) at Nishmat, The Jeanie Schottenstein Center for Advanced Torah Study for Women in Jerusalem.

She’s Passionate About Art

Her passion for creating art is intertwined with her love of the Torah. Its text inspired themes and characters she writes about. Emily’s art and her devotion to her faith are inseparable. One is typically present with the other. Those dual passions have come to define who she is.

It seems as though this period of religious discovery—and self-discovery—spurred Emily’s artistic growth. She wrote Love Psalms, which she described as “a series of short, devotional love poems.”

Emily took a series of photographs titled Wells of Miriam. Those images depict what was once an arid, withered landscape in Portugal that was miraculously reinvigorated by the introduction of water through water-retentive landscaping.

That technique is impressively simple. As Jew in the City explained, it involves digging deep trenches that can fill with rainwater that can bring the soil back to life. Jew in the City concluded, “The final (and most fascinating) step is when the ditch is full to capacity…and becomes a mikvah.”

That word, as noted on Emily’s website, can have several interpretations. In Hebrew, it can mean gathering, hope, and immersive bath.

Emily’s photos celebrated the concept of revitalizing the land as seen through the lens —both actual and metaphorical—of her religious faith. Her children’s book, The World’s a Song: So Come and Play, uses “poetry, whimsical illustrations, and 5 notated songs” to emphasize “support, discovery, and universal love.”

Emily Stern has emerged from her father Howard Stern’s shadow and created an artistic identity that is triumphantly her own. She has forged a career by exploring her vision of the world as seen from a religious and spiritual perspective. We hope Emily continues to produce artistic works that allow us to share her spiritual quest.

‘Jeopardy!’ Champ Ends Streak With A Unique But Cringy Record https://www.suggest.com/jeopardy-champ-ends-streak-with-unique-but-cringy-record/2722812/ Tue, 07 Feb 2023 19:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2722812 screenshot of Ken Jennings smiling during Final Jeopardy

Jeopardy! champion Jake DeArruda ended his time on the show after winning three games. Though he walked away with nearly $70,000 to his name, he also left the game with a slightly embarrassing statistic. The champ never correctly guessed any of the Final Jeopardy clues, which ultimately proved to be his undoing.

DeArruda, a delivery dispatcher originally from Ludlow, Vermont, won $22,797 on his first day even though he answered the Final Jeopardy clue incorrectly. The category was “World Cinema,” and the clue read, “The 2007 biopic called La Môme in France, meaning ‘The Kid’, was released in the U.S. under this other French title.” Although La Vie en rose was the correct answer, DeArruda and the other two players responded incorrectly.

The next day, DeArruda won again without answering the final clue correctly. The category was “Word Origins” and again, the returning champ and two other contestants were wrong. The final clue said, “Originally relating to a story of suffering, this word now more commonly refers to strong emotion of any kind.” The correct response was passion, as opposed to DeArruda’s mortal, but he still added another $25,197 to his winnings.

Deja vu continued for DeArruda on the third day. Again, all three contestants answered the final clue incorrectly. Only this time, the champ couldn’t be caught. The final clue read, “5 U.S. states have 6-letter names; only these 2 west of the Mississippi River border each other.” Of course, the correct response was Oregon and Nevada—DeArruda only guessed Kansas and bet $333.

DeArruda finally ended his unique three-day streak after winning $68,661. Although the champ entered the final round with the lead, he lost because one of the players finally knew the answer to the final clue! The contestants were told, “Published in 2011, P.D. James’ final novel, Death Comes to Pemberley, was a sequel to this novel from 200 years earlier.” Again, DeArruda answered incorrectly, but Patti Palmer, a bookseller and retired teacher, obviously knew that the book was Pride and Prejudice.

Lucky for us, DeArruda has already blogged about his time on Jeopardy! Although he doesn’t mention answering the final clue as a strategy, he does share that going into the final round was his best chance, especially since he was up against 6-day champion, Troy Meyer. “I know that it’s difficult to out-know Troy,” the dispatcher admitted, “so beating him would come down to being aggressive, catching a break or two and probably leading entering [Final Jeopardy].”

DeArruda’s strategy worked until one other contestant finally answered the final clue correctly. Then again, maybe DeArruda was on to something because winning $68,661 is a great three-day total!

‘Jeopardy!’ Competitor Reveals What The ‘Wheel Of Fortune’ Set Is Like When ‘Jeopardy!’ Is Filming https://www.suggest.com/jeopardy-competitor-reveals-what-wheel-of-fortune-set-is-like-when-jeopardy-is-filming/2722511/ Tue, 07 Feb 2023 17:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2722511 screenshot of ken Jennings hosting final Jeopardy in a grey suit and blue tie

Jeopardy! contestants are always ready to give fans of the game show a look at what goes on behind the scenes, and player David Maes was no exception! In a Reddit post, Maes gave viewers some details about what goes on when the cameras aren’t rolling, including what it’s like to watch the show from the green room— aka the Wheel of Fortune set!

Maes was not on Jeopardy! for very long, losing his one and only game to multi-day champion Troy Meyer. Losing didn’t ruin the fun for Maes, though, as he showed in a lengthy post about his time on the game show

He called Meyer “even more likable in person than he already appears on screen” and commended the show’s entire crew for being “among the best in the business.” Maes also provided aspiring contestants with some tips about how to spend their time once they’re lost a game.

“I highly recommend staying in the green room (aka the Wheel of Fortune stage) after your game; watching, commenting, and cheering on live games with fellow contestants was a blast,” Maes wrote.

He went on to explain that the Jeopardy! contestants go to the studio where Wheel of Fortune is shot and watch from the audience seats. “The stage (where the WoF board and the Wheel is) is pretty much dark and off-limits,” Maes shared. “There’s a conspicuous sign to DO NOT TOUCH THE WHEEL.”

“There’s a livestream to the Jeopardy stage on multiple monitors, and because they can’t hear us, we were shouting ‘DO IT!’ to the screens to egg on fellow contestants to go for true daily doubles,” he laughed.

Maes also elaborated on how sitting on the Wheel of Fortune soundstage is much more fun than sitting in the Jeopardy! studio audience, writing, “After our game, we had the option of going to the audience (where you sit politely) or going back to the green room (where you get to shout out answers to triple stumpers and Final Jeopardy with new friends).”

While sitting in the Jeopardy! audience as contestants play might sound cool, Maes’ Reddit post revealed that there’s much more fun going on behind the scenes on a very different game show set.

Could Investigators Be Closer To Solving The Tylenol Murders? New DNA Tests Ordered https://www.suggest.com/tylenol-murder-new-dna-tests-ordered/2721871/ Tue, 07 Feb 2023 15:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2721871 Tylenol boxes on store shelves

In the final days of September 1982, seven people in the Chicagoland area died suddenly after ingesting extra-strength Tylenol that, unbeknownst to them, was laced with potassium cyanide. The Tylenol Murders, as they became known, sent shockwaves through the country, forever changing our idea of safe medicine and how we consume over-the-counter drugs.

Forty years later, the victims—who ranged in age from 12 to 35—remain unvindicated as no charges have been made against the killer or killers responsible. But recent developments suggest investigators are once again turning up the heat on this infamous cold case.

Here’s what we know (and, more importantly, what we still don’t know) about the ongoing investigation.

1982: The Tylenol Murder Victims

Newspaper clipping of Tylenol Murder victims
(CBS Chicago/Youtube)

The string of deaths related to the tainted Tylenol began with 12-year-old Mary Kellerman; followed by 27-year-old Adam Janus and his brother and sister-in-law, Stanley (25) and Theresa (19); 35-year-old Mary McFarland; 35-year-old Paula Prince, and 27-year-old Mary Reiner.

All otherwise healthy individuals, each victim suddenly collapsed within minutes of taking the medication. It was the Janus killings—and an insightful nurse, Helen Jensen—that tied the deaths to the OTC acetaminophen. After comparing notes of all three Janus deaths, Jensen noticed Tylenol was the one common factor.

CBS News Chicago reports that Jensen counted out pills from the Janus’ poisoned Tylenol bottle in front of police, showing six capsules missing (three adult doses for Adam, Stanley, and Theresa). Despite digging through the trash to recover Adam’s original receipt for the medicine, investigators initially disregarded Jensen’s theory.

The following day, news outlets everywhere warned viewers of the link between the deaths and the common painkiller. As the body count continued to rise, the public grew more uneasy. Without the help of social media to communicate a warning quickly to the masses, police drove up and down Chicago streets, yelling ‘don’t take Tylenol’ through their bullhorns.

1983-2022: Hunting For The Killer

As stores and households began purging their Tylenol stock, a 15-agency task force began their work of finding the killer(s) responsible. The force found three potential leads in 1982. After ruling out the first two suspects, the investigators had only one name: James Lewis.

Lewis was the author of a letter sent to Tylenol’s manufacturer, Johnson & Johnson, in which he threatened further cyanide poisoning unless $1 million was placed in a postal box at Continental Bank in Chicago. A jury convicted Lewis of extortion, and the judge sentenced him to ten years in prison. While this seemed like a step in the right direction, it still wasn’t a serial murder charge.

Moreover, Lewis continued to deny his involvement in the actual murders. “I could send a letter to the Roman senate and say, ‘give me one million gold pieces, and I will stop the killing of Caesar,” Lewis said in a 1984 interview with CBS. “But that doesn’t mean that I killed Caesar.”

Despite being linked to other crimes, including the 1978 murder of Raymond West, Lewis managed to slither free on technicalities. After his release from prison, Lewis settled down in a Cambridge, Massachusetts, apartment where he still lives today. In 2022, CBS reporter Brad Edwards paid him a visit. Shortly after, the cops did, too.

2020-2023: Investigators Order New DNA Tests

CBS showed their exchange with Lewis to Arlington Heights Police Sergeant Joe Murphy, who currently heads the Tylenol Murder task force. The force asked for a copy of the interview but was unable to comment on their intentions due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.

However, in January 2023, CBS obtained AHPD investigation reports through a Freedom of Information Act request. Those documents reveal that police have been collecting new DNA samples and testing old samples with new technology in collaboration with Houston-based company, Othram.

The new DNA includes samples from the Morgan family, another Chicago family who narrowly escaped being the next victims of the Tylenol Murders when they decided not to take the medication after “sensing something was off.” The old DNA likely includes samples from the contaminated pills and bottles, though police cannot confirm the exact evidence.

The AHPD’s new collaborator, Othram, uses highly specialized technology to extract trace amounts of human DNA from items and analyze them. Kristen Mittelman, chief development officer at Othram, told CBS that the company “can successfully analyze DNA smaller than the top of a pin needle.” She also said that the company has returned investigative leads in thousands of cases, including identifying a murder victim from 1881.

2023: Does This Mean They’ll Solve The Case Soon?

Because the Tylenol Murder investigation is ongoing, we likely won’t know whether the AHPD has found new, more useful evidence anytime soon. Still, this is more active investigating than this case has seen in decades.

So, one could assume there is a valid reason for the heating up of this cold case. And indeed, modern DNA technology solves decades-old cold cases all of the time. For the peace of mind of all the families involved, we hope that the new DNA testing helps investigators finally convict the Tylenol Murder killer after four decades of searching.

Viola Davis Is The Latest Member Of The EGOT Club, But The Actor Who Coined The Term Has Never Won Any Of The Four Prestigious Awards https://www.suggest.com/viola-davis-latest-member-egot-club-actor-coined-term-never-won-any-four-prestigious-awards/2723134/ Tue, 07 Feb 2023 13:48:08 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2723134 Viola Davis smiles in brown shimmery gown

It’s official: Viola Davis has officially achieved the most prestigious status in the entertainment world. Now that the celebrated actress has won a Grammy for the audiobook version of her memoir Finding Me, Davis has now achieved EGOT status.

The term “EGOT” stands for “Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony” and is meant to honor the talented few who’ve won at least one of each of the four major American entertainment awards in a competitive category. The star to most recently make the list before Davis was Jennifer Hudson.

EGOT status is often seen as the ultimate achievement for any American entertainer. However, the man who coined the term EGOT unfortunately never notched a single nomination for any of the major awards.

In 1984, Miami Vice actor Philip Michael Thomas first publicly used the term during an interview with ET.

“[In January], I put a plan in motion, which I call ‘EGOT,’” he told the outlet while on the set of the popular TV show. “And EGOT is ‘E’ for Emmy, ‘G’ for GRAMMY, ‘O’ for Oscar and ‘T’ for Tony. And I’m putting this on a five-year plan. I hope to win all of those in the next five years.”

It seemed like Thomas did his best to manifest the honor, even fashioning the acronym onto a gold pendant for him to wear while he chased his goal. In 1985, he followed up with ET, telling the publication that he had the Emmy in his sights as Miami Vice celebrated multiple nominations for its pilot episode.

He added that had a plan to secure the next three awards. He first anticipated a Grammy with his debut studio album Living the Book of My Life, but he wouldn’t stop there.

“The Oscar will come when I buy the rights to No Place To Be Somebody and do it as a film,” Thomas explained. “And the Tony will come when I produce the musical I wrote, which is called The Legend of Stagolee.”

Unfortunately, those five years passed for Thomas without receiving a single EGOT-eligible win or even nomination. However, Thomas indisputably left his mark on the entertainment world by coining the oft-used term. In fact, in a roundabout way, every EGOT winner owes the prestigious designation to Thomas himself.

Thomas’ story was eventually satirized on the Emmy-award winning show 30 Rock. During the series’ fourth season, Tracy Morgan’s semi-autobiographical character Tracy Jordan insisted he was taking on Thomas’ quest.

The character even purchased Thomas’ supposed “EGOT” necklace, setting the plan into motion. While the storyline was played for laughs on the show, it also helped solidify the term “EGOT” in the public’s consciousness.

It doesn’t look like Thomas gets much work these days with his last acting credit being in 2009. However, never say never! According to his IMDB page, he actually has multiple projects in pre-production, meaning Phillip could be planning a full-on come-back. As we saw with so many actors this year, all it takes is one good role to bring an entertainer’s career back to life!

Why Archie Probably Won’t Attend King Charles’ Coronation (It’s Not Because Of His Birthday) https://www.suggest.com/king-charles-archie-probably-will-not-attend-coronation-not-because-birthday/2722720/ Tue, 07 Feb 2023 13:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2722720 King Charles looks off-camera in black suit and blue polka-dotted tie

King Charles III’s coronation is quickly approaching and, while most of the ceremony’s details have been kept under wraps, a few things have slipped through the cracks.

One major thing we don’t know yet is the guest list. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will most likely be invited, but it’s assumed they’ll leave their children, Archie and Lilibet, at home.

It’s already been announced that King Charles’ coronation will be just an hour long; for comparison, his mother’s was over three. However, even with a shorter time limit, the coronation ceremony will still be too much for a young child.

Archie will be just four years old on the day of the event. Many royal family members choose to have their young children stay at home so as not to cause a scene at public events.

Prince William and Kate Middleton’s youngest son, Prince Louis, was memorably very bored at various Jubilee events this summer and even skipped some of the longer ceremonies.

King Charles attended his mother’s coronation when he was four years old but, as the heir apparent to the throne, it made sense that he should be there. Archie is sixth in line and will probably never become a working royal.

Lilibet will be almost two years old—the same age Princess Anne was when Queen Elizabeth was crowned. Anne did not attend the coronation or any of the surrounding events, so it would make sense for Lilibet to be kept home.

Putting aside the young ages of Archie and Lilibet, it also seems unlikely Harry and Markle would want them at the ceremony. The couple is very vocal about their desire to keep their children out of the public eye and away from photographers.

For example, when the family traveled to the UK for the Platinum Jubilee, neither child attended any public events with the rest of the royal family.

Lastly, the day of the coronation, May 6, also happens to be Archie’s fourth birthday. It doesn’t seem likely his parents would make him sit through a long day of official ceremonies and parties on his birthday.

The Sussexes have yet to confirm whether or not they will be attending the coronation if they are invited, but it’s pretty safe to assume that their young children will be staying home that day.

Your Daily Horoscope: February 7, 2023 https://www.suggest.com/daily-horoscope-february-7-2023/2722527/ Tue, 07 Feb 2023 11:15:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2722527 Daily horoscope 2/7

This Tuesday, a full Moon flies in a positive sextile with Haumea retrograde. Meanwhile, the Sun is forming a tense square with Uranus. This cosmic alignment indicates it’s time for us to lean on our instincts and trust our intuition. The Sun-Uranus square suggests these revelations might be uncomfortable to hear at first, but it will be worth the effort.

What sort of realizations might your sign encounter today?

Aries

Mar 21 – Apr 19

With all this pent-up energy and nowhere to put it, it’s no wonder you’re feeling insufferably restless. The stars urge you to find an outlet for your passions, Aries. It might take some trial and error to find it, but you mustn’t give up.

Taurus

Apr 20 – May 20

Is this really the hill you want to die on, Taurus? Don’t underestimate the ability of your stubborn streak to erode a major fissure in your relationships. It’s up to you to determine whether being right is worth losing this bond.

Gemini

May 21 – Jun 20

You’ve noticed something is amiss, but now what? Will you continue associating with these bad actors, or will you be the first to push against the status quo? It might not be easy to take that step, but it would certainly be worth it.

Cancer

Jun 21 – Jul 22

While your emotions can be overwhelming at times, they can also be incredibly perceptive and forward-thinking. Pay attention to what your emotional state is trying to tell you. It’s important that you don’t miss these signals.

Leo

Jul 23 – Aug 22

It would be great if every negative thing that happened to us was someone else’s fault, but that’s not the case just as often as it is. Accountability is necessary for personal growth, Leo. Don’t be afraid to face the music when necessary.

Virgo

Aug 23 – Sep 22

It’s understandable to want to separate your emotional and professional selves, but it isn’t always as easy as it sounds. Nor is it always practical. There’s never a version of you without emotions. So, it’s critical that you listen to them.

Libra

Sep 23 – Oct 22

An unexpected bout of good fortune is coming your way, Libra. But you can’t rush the process. Let it come to you naturally, and be careful not to force it once it does. The universe has a way of working everything out.

Scorpio

Oct 23 – Nov 21

If you want to learn to trust yourself, you must first remember why you didn’t in the first place. This is rarely a comfortable exercise. However, the stars urge you to push past these uncomfortable feelings anyway.

Sagittarius

Nov 22 – Dec 21

As important as it is to work hard, it’s equally as crucial to know when to relax. Everything in the universe operates in a matter of ebb and flow. You are certainly no different, Sag. Trust the process—even during the ebbs.

Capricorn

Dec 22 – Jan 19

It’s time to take the insights you’ve learned over the past few weeks and start using them to your advantage. You have the intellect and the motivation to do it. Don’t let your insecurities convince you otherwise, Cap.

Aquarius

Jan 20 – Feb 18

Finding out that a certain habit or hobby isn’t as beneficial as we once thought is never easy, but isn’t it better to find out now rather than later? The sooner you’re onto bigger and better things, the sooner you can enjoy them.

Pisces

Feb 19 – Mar 20

Helena Bonham Carter Has Some Strong Feelings As To Why It’s Time To End ‘The Crown’ https://www.suggest.com/helena-bonham-carter-has-some-strong-feelings-why-time-end-the-crown/2722696/ Mon, 06 Feb 2023 23:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2722696 Helena Bonham Carter sits and speaks while wearing a green shawl and nude-colored skirt

The Crown is one of Netflix’s most popular shows to date, thrilling viewers with its accounts of what went on behind the scenes of some of the royal family’s most dramatic moments. However, Helena Bonham Carter, a former star of the show, recently shared that she thinks it’s time for The Crown to call it quits.

Carter played Princess Margaret in Seasons 3 and 4 of The Crown, which covered the years 1964 to 1990. Even though she told The Guardian she “loved [her] episodes,” Carter quickly added, “I don’t think they should carry on, actually.

“It’s very different now,” she continued. “When The Crown started it was a historic drama, and it’s crashed into the present.”

The last season of the show ended with Princess Diana meeting Dodi Fayed, and it’s assumed Season 6 will show her tragic death and the effects it had on the royal family.

Carter is among the many Crown viewers who have expressed discomfort with the fact that the show is getting closer and closer to the present. Adding to that discomfort are the comments Prince Harry has made about how the public scrutiny following his mother’s death affected him and his brother Prince William.

This also isn’t the first time Carter has spoken about the need to bring The Crown to a close. In a podcast interview with The Guardian, the actress joined the many who were calling for a disclaimer to be put in front of episodes, letting viewers know the show is largely fictional.

“It is dramatized,” she stressed. “I do feel very strongly, because I think we have a moral responsibility to say, ‘Hang on guys, this is not … it’s not a drama-doc, we’re making a drama.’ So they are two different entities.”

Netflix eventually agreed to add the disclaimer, but Carter’s request to have the show end now is already a moot point. Season 6 of The Crown started filming last September and is expected to premiere sometime this year. It will, however, be the last season of the popular show, as was announced in 2020.

Carter’s concerns about the events of The Crown coming too close to the present are understandable, and many fans of the show are pleased that the showrunners are choosing to end it.

The ‘Secret Ingredient’ In This Restorative Hair Mask Is 1.5 Times More Nourishing Than Shea Butter https://www.suggest.com/klorane-cupuacu-hair-mask-overview/2722377/ Mon, 06 Feb 2023 22:15:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2722377 L: A cut-open cupuaçu fruit, R: A woman applying a hair mask

A hair mask is an intense conditioner that contains rich ingredients in much heavier concentrations than normal conditioners. To keep those locks as healthy as possible, the general advice is to use a hair mask once a week. However, those with dryer, color-treated, damaged, or aging hair might want to use a hair mask more often than that.

When choosing a hair mask, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by the options. But the inclusion of a new ingredient, cupuaçu, makes this particular hair mask a cut above the rest—and it might just be the key to unlocking healthier hair.

The Low-Down On Cupuaçu

Cupuaçu is one of the most popular native fruits cultivated in the Brazilian Amazon rainforest. The fruit’s pulp is used in a variety of food products, while the seeds are often utilized in cosmetics and pharmaceutical products. Cupuaçu butter comes from the pulp and is considered a modern plant-based alternative to lanolin, an ingredient used in some skincare products that can be irritating for sensitive skin.

According to a March 2014 study published by the Journal of the American College of Clinical Wound Specialists, cupuaçu has the ability to quickly penetrate the skin and retain moisture. Researchers sang its praises, calling its water absorption properties far superior to that of lanolin and shea butter.

“Cupuaçu could support 440% of its weight in water … allowing it to function much more effectively as a skin hydrator and plumper [than shea butter or lanolin],” the study explained. “[It] is an excellent emollient that restores elasticity to the skin while providing antioxidants and hydration.”

The study also referred to cupuaçu butter as a “super moisturizer” because it has “water-loving properties.”

Although this research was focused on the skin, skincare and haircare are often closely linked—and certain ingredients can benefit both. After all, your scalp is skin, and healthy hair starts with a healthy scalp.

Klorane Harnesses The Power Of Cupuaçu

If you’d like to see what this powerhouse ingredient can do for your scalp and hair, the Klorane 3-in-1 Hair Mask with Organic Cupuaçu Butter is definitely worth a try.

This product fills in the gaps between keratin on individual hair strands to repair and prevent damaged hair. And just as the study above indicated, the cupuaçu butter in this restorative hair mask has been proven to be 1.5 times more nourishing than shea butter.

It’s the best option for dry, damaged hair, and it can be used in three different ways:

  1. For a traditional in-shower treatment, apply the mask to the lengths and ends of your hair, leave on for five minutes, then rinse out.
  2. For an overnight hair mask when you need that deep conditioning treatment, apply to dry or towel-dried hair in the evening and leave on until morning.
  3. For a leave-in cream to be used on very dry hair, apply one or two pea-sized dollops on dry or towel-dried hair.

We’re not the only ones impressed with cupuaçu and just how well it can restore dry, damaged locks; the five-star reviews are rolling in for this product.

“I was very impressed with the way the Klorane mask affected my hair,” one reviewer shared. “The texture was better. It was easier to manage and it held body much better.”

Another wrote, “Been using it for a long time … keep trying other products but always return to the holy grail! With frizzy, curly hair, this is a must-try!”

Shania Twain Brought New Meaning To The Word ‘Cowgirl’ With Grammys Red Carpet Look https://www.suggest.com/shania-twain-brought-new-meaning-word-cowgirl-grammys-red-carpet-look/2722970/ Mon, 06 Feb 2023 21:15:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2722970 Shania Twain smiling in a black leather top with long bright red hair

We didn’t think anyone could outdo Pharrell’s big hat moment at the 56th Grammy Awards in 2014, but Shania Twain has proved us wrong! At the 65th Grammy Awards, Twain came out to play in an outfit that brought new meaning to the word “cowgirl.”

On February 5, 2023, Twain wowed fans with a one-of-a-kind white and black ensemble. All eyes were on the musician as she took the red carpet by storm in a head-to-toe glittery black and white polka dotted suit. The outfit included a longline blazer and enormous bell bottom pants that grazed the ground.

If a suit with large sequined polka dots wasn’t enough of a statement piece, the award-winning singer opted to top off her fun outfit with a matching sky high hat! Complementing the playful look, Twain donned a super long red wig with matching cherry red lipstick. The only place where the singer kept it simple was with her jewelry, if you can call diamond accessories by Messika basic.

However, the whimsical suit designed by young British-American designer Harris Reed stole the show. It’s no surprise since the 26-year-old designer is already taking the fashion industry by storm. The revolutionary creator has not only worked with Twain but also with one of her biggest fans, Harry Styles.

The polka dot suit was released in the fall as part of a collection. According to Reed, the suit centers “around community, collaboration and all the incredible individuals that it takes to create safe spaces for everyone to feel their most authentic selves.”

During a red carpet interview, Twain shared that she chose the incredible piece because she “just fell in love with the fun” of the suit. Turns out, the singer is all about having fun in her 50s and that includes being on the red carpet. When asked if the red carpet ever gets old, she said no, “It’s an opportunity to wear fun clothes! I love it … I just love the whole spirit of all of it.”

Twain attended the Grammys to present the award for Best Country Album and “to represent country music” as she said on the red carpet. Plus, the singer recently released her new album, Queen of Me. In the spirit of having fun, the artist referred to this as her “cheer myself up album.”

From her new album to her playful polka dot suit, Twain is certainly spreading cheer!

Head Of Elvis Presley Enterprises Weighs In On Priscilla Presley’s Lawsuit https://www.suggest.com/head-elvis-presley-enterprises-weighs-in-priscilla-presley-lawsuit/2722475/ Mon, 06 Feb 2023 21:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2722475 photo of Priscilla Presley speaking into a microphone dressed in black at Lisa Marie's public memorial

When Lisa Marie Presley passed away earlier this month, her will left everything—including partial control of Elvis Presley’s estate—to her daughters. Now, her mother, Priscilla, is contesting the will and fighting an amendment to the document she claims is invalid.

Joel Weinshanker, managing partner at Elvis Presley Enterprises, recently weighed in on the situation, telling Sirius XM’s Elvis Radio that Lisa Marie was “quite certain” she wanted her children to carry on Elvis’ legacy.

“We discussed this many many times [before] she passed, and that was always Riley and Ben,” Weinshanker said, referring to Riley Keough and Benjamin Keough, her children with ex David Keough. “There was never a question in her mind that they would be the stewards, that they would look at it the exact same way that she did. And obviously when Ben passed, it really sat with Riley.”

Benjamin died by suicide in 2020, leaving Riley and twins Harper and Finley Lockwood, 14, as the co-trustees of Lisa Marie’s Trust, which includes the famous Graceland property and 15% ownership of Elvis’ estate.

Why Priscilla Is Contesting Her Daughter’s Will

While Weinshanker is insistent that Lisa Marie wanted her children to take charge of her trust, Priscilla is not so sure. Previously, the will stated that Priscilla and Barry Siegel, her former business manager, would be co-trustees.

This 2010 amendment to her will was replaced in 2016 with a new amendment that made her children co-trustees of Lisa Marie’s Trust instead. Priscilla is contesting this amendment, claiming she had no prior knowledge of the change. This would make the 2016 amendment invalid, as Priscilla did not receive the amendment while Lisa Marie was alive “as required by the express terms of the Trust.”

Priscilla has also claimed that there are “many issues surrounding the authenticity and validity” of the amendment, including the fact that her name was misspelled on the document, the amendment was not witnessed or notarized, and Lisa Marie’s signature is “inconsistent” with her usual signature.

It’s unknown whether or not Priscilla’s petition will change the outcome of Lisa Marie’s trust and Elvis’ estate but, despite her mother’s claims, it seems clear that Lisa Marie wanted her children to carry on her father’s legacy.

Jill Biden Stole The Show In A Shimmering Gown On The Grammys Stage While Presenting Historic Award https://www.suggest.com/jill-biden-stole-show-shimmering-gown-grammys-stage-while-presenting-historic-award/2722901/ Mon, 06 Feb 2023 20:52:37 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2722901 Jill Biden smiles in closeup image against orange backdrop

For centuries, the first ladies of the United States have represented the pinnacle of style and poise. Current First Lady Jill Biden proved at the 2023 Grammy Awards on Sunday that her legacy will be no different as she gave some of the night’s biggest stars a run for their money.

On Sunday, Dr. Jill Biden made a surprise appearance at the 65th Grammy Awards, cementing her as one of the few first ladies of the United States to ever present at a major awards show. The night was historic for multiple reasons as Biden became the first person to present the Grammys’ brand new competitive category, Best Song for Social Change.

As Dr. Biden announced, she was there to celebrate “a song that responds to the social issues of our time and has the potential for positive global impact.” That song was “Baraye,” a powerful ballad penned by Iranian singer-songwriter Shervin Hajpour in response to the alleged murder of Mahsa Amini.

Back in September, 22-year-old Amini was detained by Iran’s morality police for supposedly wearing her hijab improperly. Eyewitnesses alleged Amini was severely beaten by the police, contributing to growing unrest in Iran over compulsory hijab laws. Her death sparked massive global protests over the violence against Iranian women.

Inspired by Amini, Hajpour recorded “Baraye” (roughly translating to “because of”) which became the unofficial anthem of the protests. The singer was subsequently arrested for allegedly inciting violence acts against the Iranian government.

“Shervin was arrested but this song continues to resonate around the world with its powerful theme—women, life, freedom,” Dr. Biden said on Sunday, calling the song a “powerful and poetic call for freedom and women’s rights.”

While Dr. Biden was there for an important reason, she certainly did not forget the dress code. The first lady looked like a trophy herself in a dazzling off-the-shoulder Oscar de la Renta gown.

The long-sleeved dress was structured with gorgeous floral details, and the silver pattern put off a disco-ball-like shine, making it one of the more eye-grabbing looks of the night.

Dr. Biden wasn’t the only one to grace the Grammys stage in a silver ensemble. Harry Styles accepted his award for Album of the Year in a dazzling silver top before changing into a bold jumpsuit for his performance.

Lizzo accepted her award in a metallic silver ruched mini dress, and Beyonce became the most-awarded artist in Grammys history while wearing a shining silver and camel strapless gown.

So, while Dr. Biden looked timeless and elegant in her gown, she was also ridiculously on-trend. Honestly, Biden’s dress was one of the best looks of the night, and it certainly just served to highlight her important reason for attending. Not to mention, it just goes to show that glamour has absolutely no age!

How The Osage Nation Changed Martin Scorsese’s ‘Killers Of The Flower Moon’ For The Better https://www.suggest.com/killers-of-the-flower-moon-osage-nation-martin-scorsese/2721048/ Mon, 06 Feb 2023 19:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2721048 L: Cover art for the book Killers of the Flower Moon, R: Martin Scorsese

In 1920, the Osage Nation of Oklahoma became the richest nation of people per capita in the world when valuable oil deposits were discovered on their land. And for the six years afterward, Osage County was terrorized by a string of more than 60 mysterious or unsolved murders of Osage people who stood to benefit from these mineral lease royalties.

The serial killings became known as the “Reign of Terror,” prompting the involvement of the precursor to the FBI, the U.S. Bureau of Investigation. Author and journalist David Grann immortalized this tragic period of unjustified crimes in his 2017 book Killers of the Flower Moon. Martin Scorsese’s film adaptation, which was filmed on location in Oklahoma, is set to release in May 2023.

But this isn’t just a third-party depiction of the Osage Nation. It’s a collaboration between the production company and the Osage citizens, unlike many Hollywood depictions of Native American peoples that have come before it.

The Need For A Sensitive Approach

Since Scorsese and leading actor Leonardo DiCaprio first announced plans for the film in 2017, the potential for backlash has been immense. Not only does this film depict a particularly heinous moment in American history, but it also centers on a community this country has violently marginalized since its founding.

Consequently, many were initially skeptical of a major Hollywood film production barging into Osage County, Oklahoma, to tell a sensationalized version of the story. However, reports from Osage citizens and indigenous actors involved in the film reveal that Scorsese took great care to approach the film with reverence and humility.

The film industry has a sordid history of dehumanizing, belittling, or otherwise exploiting Native American people and their cultures, which explains why there were plenty of preconceptions stacked against Scorsese and DiCaprio’s intentions. And while we obviously can’t speak to the unreleased film’s content, its production practices paint a picture of genuine collaboration with and respect for the Osage community.

Letting The World Inform The Work

Lily Gladstone, who is of Blackfeet and Nez Perce descent, plays Mollie Burkhart, an Osage woman whose family fell victim to the Reign of Terror. In a recent interview with Variety, Gladstone said Scorsese “worked closely with the real-life Osage Nation to ensure his movie would properly represent the community.”

“The work is better when you let the world inform the work,” she said. “It’s a different movie than the one [Scorsese] walked in to make almost entirely because of what the community had to say.”

Osage News reported that this synchronicity had existed since the film’s conception. In 2019, Scorsese and his production team met with the Osage Nation’s Principal Chief, Geoffrey Standing Bear. Standing Bear served as the film’s cultural consultant, ensuring proper, historically accurate depictions of the Osage Nation.

The film utilized Osage and other indigenous citizens in its cast, local artisans in its costume department, Osage citizens to cook food for the film’s scenes, and consultants from the Osage Language Department and Wahzhazhe Cultural Center. On the first day of filming, members of the Osage Nation and more than 100 cast and crew members gathered for a blessing led by Grayhorse Head Committeeman Archie Mason.

Leading A More Inclusive Path

The Killers production team’s decision to film on location forced the Osage Nation to once again confront an incredibly difficult time. The Reign of Terror resulted in the deaths of at least 5% of the Osage Nation, and 50% lost all their wealth. Thus, it’s unsurprising that the local community’s opinions on the film are divisive.

Still, the overwhelming response seems to be positive. “[Scorsese] struck me and most of the [Osage] people as a very sincere person who wants to get this right and do right by us,” Danette Daniels, the Osage owner of Pawhuska’s Water Bird Gallery, told The Oklahoman. “There are other Osages that are very skeptical … but at least we’ve had input into the process.”

Indeed, Killers of the Flower Moon appears to be taking a much-needed turn away from Hollywood’s traditional treatment of Native American communities. While they deserve to have their story told, indigenous people also deserve to be the ones to tell it. And hopefully, Scorsese’s example will lead Hollywood down a more inclusive path where we celebrate and uplift marginalized communities, not exploit them further for ratings.

Three Letters Cost One ‘Jeopardy!’ Competitor Their Entire Score In Nail-Biting Finish https://www.suggest.com/three-letters-cost-one-jeopardy-competitor-entire-score-nail-biting-finish/2722372/ Mon, 06 Feb 2023 17:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2722372 Ken Jennings looking happily surprised during a Final Jeopardy round

The Final Jeopardy round is the climax of America’s favorite game show. It’s arguably the most suspenseful and exciting moment of the show, and that’s because the stakes are so high. Monday’s Final Jeopardy question was a rare triple stumper, meaning no contestants correctly answered in time. However, one contestant arguably suffered a worse fate than her competitors, writing the correct answer just seconds too late.

On Monday, Vermont native Jake DeArruda returned for his second game, playing against attorney Sam Meehan and Ph.D. candidate Sara Howard. DeArruda had a generous lead against the others, however, everything was momentarily in doubt once Ken Jennings announced the Final Jeopardy clue.

“Originally relating to a story of suffering, this word now more commonly refers to strong emotion of any kind,” Jennings read.

Sometimes, Final Jeopardy clues refer to something so specific that if you don’t know it, you know that you don’t know it. However, this was one of those clues that was so vague that it seemed nearly applicable to multiple different answers.

For example, Meehan seemed confident in his guess, betting all of his winnings. However, while “drama” seems like it almost fits, it wasn’t the correct answer. DeArruda seemed less confident in his answer, betting only $800 on the word “mortal.” That also wasn’t the correct answer.

Similarly, Howard initially guessed “intense,” another word that seems semi-appropriate. However, that wasn’t Howard’s final answer. Just seconds before the clock ran out, Howard scratched through “intense” and wrote “pass.” She told Jennings that she was trying to write “passion,” but only managed to jot down the first four letters. She wagered $1,999, bringing her score down to just $1.

As Jennings revealed, if Howard had just a little more time, she would have guessed correctly. The answer was indeed “passion,” referring to that of Jesus Christ. Of course, today “passion” doesn’t necessarily mean suffering, but rather references any strong emotion.

It must be devastating to know you had the correct answer but were just seconds away from being able to share it. If it’s any consolation, she wouldn’t have been able to beat DeArruda anyways since his final score was $25,197 and she only had $2,000 to wager. The delivery dispatcher won three games and seemed to be barreling towards the Tournament of Champions roster before a surprise loss to Patti Palmer.

It wasn’t a complete loss for Howard, though. When all was said and done, she was still left with $1 while Meehan had $0, meaning she still took home second place and its $2,000 prize. Thankfully, the fluke didn’t affect her ranking, but we are certain it still stings. Here’s hoping she gets invited back for the 2023 Jeopardy! Second Chance Tournament!

Disgraced Prince Andrew Reportedly Booted From Plush Buckingham Palace Apartment https://www.suggest.com/prince-andrew-reportedly-booted-from-plush-buckingham-palace-apartment/2721648/ Mon, 06 Feb 2023 15:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2721648 Prince Andrew looking ahead in gray suit and tie

Prince Andrew is being stripped of yet another royal privilege. King Charles III has evicted his brother from Buckingham Palace as part of his ongoing punishment for the sexual assault scandals that recently rocked the royals.

Like many senior royals, Andrew has long maintained an apartment at Buckingham Palace, where he stays while he’s in London. The prince also has a home at Windsor Castle; the Royal Lodge, where he lives with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson.

The Sun recently reported that Andrew will have to say goodbye to his London digs due to Charles’ ongoing renovations of the palace. His possessions have already been removed, with no plans to put them back after the renovations are finished.

“The King has made it clear that Buckingham Palace is no place for Prince Andrew,” a source told the outlet about Andrew’s ousting from the palace. “First his office closed last year and now his sleeping quarters.

The source continued, “Andrew loved having a suite at Buckingham Palace where he was not only set up for marital life with Sarah Ferguson but used it as a bachelor’s pad after his divorce. He brought back a string of new girlfriends to his home in the Palace—even model Caprice.”

Andrew might have gotten kicked out of Buckingham Palace, but that doesn’t mean he will no longer have a royal residence to stay in when he visits London. The prince can join other royal family members at locations like Kensington Palace and or St. James Palace.

However, the prince might not be too excited about his move to a different royal residence. “A bachelor’s flat in St James’s Palace doesn’t have the same allure for a single man,” The Sun’s source shared.

Not only has Andrew been removed from Buckingham Palace and his former offices, but he has also been stripped of all his royal duties amid the allegations of sexual assault leveled at him by Virginia Guiffre.

Andrew was friends with notorious sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. Guiffre, one of Epstein’s victims, claimed she had been forced to have sex with him while underage. A lawsuit was brought against the prince, which was settled out of court for an undisclosed sum.

He also had to sell his Swiss ski chalet to settle a lawsuit brought against him and Ferguson alleging that the couple owed the house’s owner $9 million. Andrew reportedly sold the chalet for $23.7 million, which undoubtedly helped him pay Guiffre’s settlement.

Andrew’s removal from Buckingham Palace is just the latest royal privilege that he has lost as a result of the ongoing scandal. Many are not surprised that King Charles hopes to distance himself and the throne from Andrew amid his scandals.

Apparently, This Recognizable Gen X Icon Has Already Been Forgotten On ‘Jeopardy!’ https://www.suggest.com/apparently-recognizable-gen-x-icon-has-already-been-forgotten-on-jeopardy/2722158/ Mon, 06 Feb 2023 13:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2722158 screenshot of Ken Jennings hosting Jeopardy! in a gray suit

A recent Jeopardy! episode had some viewers feeling their age after all three contestants drew a blank when it came time to identify a photograph of this iconic ‘80s horror movie location.

The contestants were asked to answer clues about “Scary Movies,” which included popular horror movies like Get Out, Wicker Man, and Nosferatu. The players breezed through most of the clues, but a photo of a very familiar house tripped them all up.

“In 1984, a house in Hollywood got the cinematic address ‘1428 This’ for the first time,” host Ken Jennings read while a picture of the house was shown on screen. None of the contestants attempted to answer the clue.

“That’s ‘1428 Elm Street’ of Nightmare fame,” Jennings revealed, referring to the iconic Nightmare on Elm Street movies. The players might not have gotten the answer, but plenty of Gen Xers recognized the house immediately. The house is a significant part of the first movie. It’s where main character Nancy Thompson lives and is stalked by Freddy Kreuger in her dreams.

Is 1428 Elm Street A Real House?

As it turns out, 1428 Elm Street is a real house in Hollywood, located at 1428 N. Genesee Ave. Strangely enough, the house is actually right across the street from the location used for Johnny Depp’s character Glen’s home, just as it’s supposed to be in the movie. The house has become so recognizable among horror fans that Universal Studios even built a replica of 1428 Elm Street for their famous studio tour.

Freddy Krueger isn’t the only famous face to hang out at the house. Comedian Bo Burnham actually used 1428 N Genesee Ave as the location for his hit Netflix special Inside. The house is essentially unchanged from its days as an ‘80s horror movie landmark, but the interior has been renovated. The house was recently sold for $2.98 million.
The Nightmare on Elm Street movies were part of one of the biggest horror franchises of the 80s and are still popular today. Even though none of the Jeopardy! contestants recognized the house, plenty of viewers around the world knew exactly who lived at 1428 Elm Street.

10 Tiny Hacks To Get Lots Of Sh*t Done Faster https://www.suggest.com/little-hacks-to-check-more-off-to-do-list/2721814/ Mon, 06 Feb 2023 12:30:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2721814 Illustration of someone writing a to-do list surrounded by glasses, candles, and tea

I love checking things off of my to-do list, but sometimes those lists can turn into an unorganized, never-ending mess of chores and errands that ends up making me feel bad about myself till I finally give up and toss it in the recycling bin. If your lists have you feeling overwhelmed, here are 10 tips to expedite your day and make sure those “to-dos” actually get done.

1. Two-Minute Rule

We all have those tasks we avoid doing even though we know they won’t take long. We probably spend longer thinking about doing the thing than it would actually take to do it. If there’s anything on your list that would take two minutes or less to accomplish, do it right away. Don’t even bother writing it down (unless you’re into that). It’ll give you an instant sense of accomplishment.

2. Time Travel

Jump into your DeLorean and fast forward to a time when you’ve completed your to-do list. Okay, we might not have that technology yet—but try imagining how you’ll feel once you’ve finished your tasks and you’re free to enjoy the rest of your day. Feel motivated yet?

3. Schedule Your To-Dos

This one’s pretty self-explanatory: Try assigning specific tasks to a certain time of day. This works best when you already have a pretty normal daily routine in place.

4. Automate

Automate what you can. For instance, if you’re like me and coffee is something your household needs to keep in constant supply, you might consider signing up for a coffee subscription service. Whatever your “thing” may be, automating it makes it one less thing for you to worry about!

5. Ask Yourself Why

Why do I want to look for a new set of knives? Because our knives are old and dull. Why does it matter that our knives are old and dull? Because it means I spend an unnecessary amount of time on dinner prep. If you keep asking and answering this question in regard to each task on your list, you’ll eventually uncover a core value that you hold, which will help you prioritize the task in question.

6. Digital Or Paper?

Figure out which to-do list format works best for you and stick with that. If you know you get sucked into looking at Instagram if you keep your to-do list on your phone, then stick to good ol’ pen and paper. (It may still be best to keep long-term goals in a digital format so they don’t get lost among everyday tasks.)

7. Set A Time Limit

Try setting a time limit to keep yourself focused on the task at hand and get through more of the items on your overall list. You can always add the unfinished task to tomorrow’s list or come back to finish it later. You can also time yourself to get a better idea of how long your tasks take, then see if it’s possible to shorten that time (e.g., cut out time spent scrolling on your phone).

8. Write Your List The Day Before

Visualize tomorrow: What do you need to accomplish? Writing your to-do list the night before can help you organize your thoughts and prioritize what’s most important.

9. Check Your Supplies

If any of your tasks require specific supplies, make sure you have (or buy) them before putting the task on your to-do list. The acquisition of said supplies might need to go on your list before the task itself.

10. Create A ‘To-Don’t’ List

For those who have a hard time concentrating on a single task, keep a running list of things that tend to sidetrack you throughout the day. Put those on a “to-don’t” list to check back on later. Mindfully avoid letting those things distract you and try to cultivate healthy habits, concentrating on the things you want to get done first.

Your Daily Horoscope: February 6, 2023 https://www.suggest.com/daily-horoscope-february-6-2023/2722519/ Mon, 06 Feb 2023 11:15:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2722519 Daily horoscope 2/6

This Monday, the direct opposition between the Sun and full Moon continues as they make their way across their respective Houses. Meanwhile, two dwarf planets, Ceres and Haumea, turn retrograde. This cosmic regression suggests we should trust our instincts when it comes to fulfilling our emotional, mental, and physical needs.

What do the stars have in store for your sign today?

Aries

Mar 21 – Apr 19

Sometimes, the skills you possess are better used for the benefit of others. This sort of selfless assistance can be difficult when you have your own endeavors in mind, but the exercise is a useful one for your personal growth.

Taurus

Apr 20 – May 20

Be wary of letting your love of comfort get in the way of your need for education and growth. As nice as our comfort zones can be, they don’t lend themselves to improvement. Is this type of dull stagnancy really worth it, Taurus?

Gemini

May 21 – Jun 20

You can’t feign ignorance forever, Gemini. After a certain point, repeated negative behaviors become a choice—whether conscious or unconscious. Stay on this path if you must, but at least be honest with yourself while you’re there.

Cancer

Jun 21 – Jul 22

Is this new idea really not worth pursuing? Or could it be that this novel perspective threatens your current mindset and, by proxy, your ego? The former is a noble reason not to pursue something. The latter is merely an excuse.

Leo

Jul 23 – Aug 22

The universe offers a crucial revelation today, Leo. Make sure you’re in the right headspace to heed its call. While this might shake your sense of self, the insights you’ll gain will be well worth the temporary discomfort.

Virgo

Aug 23 – Sep 22

Your work ethic is admirable, but make sure that you’re not using this as a scapegoat to run away from more pressing issues. Indeed, they will still be there when you’re done, Virgo. You might as well deal with them now.

Libra

Sep 23 – Oct 22

There is no framework you are required to follow for this relationship, Libra. And that’s a blessing and a curse. On the one hand, it provides immense freedom. But on the other hand, it also places greater responsibility on us.

Scorpio

Oct 23 – Nov 21

Your inability to trust yourself will lead you down a dark, bumpy road if you’re not careful, Scorpio. Even if you’re not totally sure you have the right answer, at least have faith in your ability to recover if you don’t.

Sagittarius

Nov 22 – Dec 21

While it’s understandable to default to a method of nurturing that works for you, this won’t necessarily be effective for someone else. Part of deepening your compassion involves learning others’ love languages and how to express them.

Capricorn

Dec 22 – Jan 19

Rebelling against your own best interest can feel deceptively good, but that doesn’t make it beneficial. Consider whether this instant gratification is worth sacrificing a more satisfying, long-term accomplishment. The choice is ultimately up to you, Cap.

Aquarius

Jan 20 – Feb 18

Different combinations of emotions can elicit different responses. As unsettled as you might feel right now, you have dealt with some form of this challenge before. There’s no reason to assume you can’t do it again.

Pisces

Feb 19 – Mar 20

The stars are lining in your favor, Pisces. Don’t be afraid to think outside of the box today. If anyone can dream up a unique solution to this problem, it’s you. Have faith in yourself and your imagination. Let it run wild.

This Zoo Will Name A Cockroach After Your Ex And Feed It To An Animal For A Donation https://www.suggest.com/san-antonio-zoo-cry-me-a-cockroach-fundraiser/2721282/ Sun, 05 Feb 2023 23:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2721282 Hedgehog eating cockroaches off plate

If you’ve ever compared your ex to a cockroach, rat, or other vermin in general, the San Antonio Zoo has some news for you: Now, they actually can be. The fourth annual Cry Me A Cockroach fundraiser is back, allowing us to live out our pettiest daydreams with some harmless fun (well, except for the rats and roaches).

Whether you’re harboring hard feelings for an ex, old boss, or former BFF, here’s how you can blow off some steam—and help out the San Antonio Zoological Society, a non-profit organization committed to securing a bright future for wildlife.

Er, yeah … that’s the main reason we’re doing this.

Cry Me A Cockroach

The San Antonio Zoo finding a way to capitalize on our common urge to be petty is nothing short of pure, slightly-evil genius. Its Cry Me A Cockroach fundraiser took the world by storm in 2018, and it’s easy to see why. Equal parts gross and hilarious, this novel format shook up the traditional fundraising model in the best possible way.

In exchange for a $5, $10, or $25 donation, Texas’ San Antonio Zoo will symbolically name a cockroach, rat, or veggie after your not-so-special someone. Zoo workers will feed “(Insert Your Ex’s Name Here)” to one of the zoo’s animals. Then, you’ll receive two digital download cards: one showing your support of the fundraiser and another informing your honoree that an animal at the SAZ “ate” them.

If sending a card to someone informing them they were named after a bug and devoured by a wild animal isn’t petty enough, you also have the option to up your donation to $150 in exchange for a personalized video message of the vermin of your choice being fed to one of the zoo’s animals, like this owl.

(We should note that the SAZ prohibits the use of profanity in its customized videos. So, you know—prepare to edit.)

Throwing Shade And Raising Funds

The zoo’s annual fundraiser is open to participants around the world. All proceeds from the Cry Me A Cockroach fundraiser go toward helping the non-profit achieve its goal of “inspiring the community to love, engage with, act for, and protect animals and the places they live.”

Not to discourage you from naming your ex after a cockroach, but the SAZ even takes good care of those creepy crawlers, too. The SAZ was the first zoological facility in the world to be accredited and certified by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, the Zoological Association of America, and the American Humane Conservation program. So when you participate in this fundraiser, you’re helping an institution that cares for all its critters, big and small.

The zoo even offers additional Cry Me A Cockroach merchandise, including t-shirts and mugs—which are great for anyone who wouldn’t have a heart attack upon seeing a “cockroach” on a shirt or coffee cup out of the corner of their eye.

The real question is, which ex gets the honor of being named first?

You Could Slow Down The Aging Process With This One Easy Diet Change, Study Suggests https://www.suggest.com/hydration-for-slowing-aging-process-study/2722374/ Sun, 05 Feb 2023 22:10:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2722374 Woman drinking water while working at her laptop computer

Takeaways

  • Serum sodium levels above 142 in middle age may put you at increased risk of being “biologically older.”
  • Water isn’t the only way to stay hydrated.
  • Getting enough electrolytes in your diet is crucial and can be helped with supplements.

We know a healthy lifestyle is important for warding off disease and having a better quality of life as we get older. But what if there was one easy diet change you could make to actually slow down the aging process? A study conducted by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute suggests that proper hydration may play a key role in doing just that.

A Look At The Study

The aim of the study, published in eBioMedicine in January 2023, was to find preventive measures that could slow the aging process. According to researchers, lifelong water restriction in mice actually decreases their lifespan and contributes to degenerative changes. So in this study, researchers tested the hypothesis that optimal hydration in humans could actually slow down the aging process.

“It is known that some people age faster than others, some people live into old age disease-free, while others develop age-related chronic diseases,” the study’s background reads. “With a rapidly aging population and an emerging chronic diseases epidemic, finding mechanisms and implementing preventive measures that could slow down the aging process has become a new challenge for biomedical research and public health.”

Researchers used data from an ongoing prospective cohort study titled Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC). From 1987 to 1989, 15,792 men and women between the ages of 45 and 66 from four different U.S. communities enrolled in the ARIC study and were followed up with for more than 25 years.

Using serum sodium as a proxy for hydration habits, the researchers calculated participants’ biological ages. As opposed to chronological age, biological age is calculated using factors like eating habits, lifestyle, blood sugar levels, and other biomarkers to approximate of how much life one likely has left. In addition to this, researchers also assessed chronic disease and premature mortality risks to estimate the relative speed of aging.

Serum sodium levels are used to assess the amount of sodium in the blood. The less hydrated you are, the higher your levels, with a normal range being 135 to 145 millimoles per liter (mmol/L).

However, after analyzing the data, the study found that middle-aged people with serum sodium levels above 142 have an increased risk of being biologically older, developing chronic diseases, and dying earlier. Consequently, staying hydrated and thereby maintaining lower serum sodium levels may help extend your life and keep you feeling younger for longer.

We should point out, though, that researchers also said “intervention studies are needed to confirm the link between hydration and aging.” Still, these initial findings could help healthcare providers identify at-risk patients and work on plans to address hydration.

Hydration Isn’t Just About Drinking More Water

As we’ve explained previously, although water consumption is obviously very important to one’s overall hydration levels, there’s a little more to it than that.

Your body’s hydration is maintained by electrolytes, which include potassium, sodium, calcium, magnesium, phosphate, and chloride, which most water will contain in trace amounts. But if you drink too much water, you run the risk of completely flushing those vital minerals out of your system. If you aren’t eating a balanced diet filled with electrolyte-rich fruits and veggies, the more water you drink, the thirstier you’ll become.

Ultimately, proper hydration levels are key. Electrolyte powders and mineral drops can boost those levels and help you feel more hydrated. You can also get your water intake from coffee, tea, the food you eat, and even low-alcohol beer.

If you’re not getting them from your diet alone, you can replenish essential minerals in your body by adding highly-concentrated drops like these to filtered drinking water. With more than 72 ionic trace minerals, these drops will help support vital functions in the body, restore pH balance, and regulate bowel function, sleep, and mood.

Trace Minerals recommends taking 10 drops daily for the first three days, then gradually increasing your serving to eventually take roughly ½ a teaspoon once or twice a day. All-natural with low sodium and no added preservatives or sweeteners, you can feel good about what you’re putting in your body.

Available in 12 different flavors (including Appletini and Coconut Piña Colada), this electrolyte powder from Ultima will satisfy your taste buds while keeping you hydrated. Just dissolve one scoop in 16 ounces of water to give your body the nutrients it needs with no calories, sugar, or carbs. This powder works especially well to make drinking water more appealing and to help you restore your body after working out.

Martha Stewart Shared A Filter-Free Selfie And We Need To Know Her Skincare Regimen ASAP https://www.suggest.com/martha-stewart-shared-filter-free-selfie-skincare-regimen-asap/2722206/ Sun, 05 Feb 2023 21:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2722206 Martha Stewart smiles in all-white outfit

Martha Stewart can teach us all more than how to make perfect scrambled eggs. During a recent visit to the hair salon, the businesswoman shared a filter-free selfie, and WOW! We can’t get over how amazing her skin looks!

At 81 years old, how does Stewart do it? The interior designer credits “a mostly dry January and pilates every other day” for her incredible skin. But we suspect that her skincare routine also plays a role in her flawless complexion.

Thankfully, Stewart mentions the products she can’t live without on her website. The lifestyle icon stresses that it’s not just what products you use but also when and how you use them.

An early riser, Stewart begins her daily routine at 5 a.m. with a face mask that sits for 30 minutes. Her top choice is Yon-Ka Gommage 305, a gentle facial peel that clarifies the skin and reduces redness. Since it’s perfect for any skin type, this magical mask renews the skin and makes it look brighter than ever.

When she’s looking for something a bit more comprehensive, she reaches for the Mario Badescu Super Collagen Mask. This collagen and clay-based mask tightens, purifies, and nourishes skin of all types while reducing the appearance of lines and making skin look more vibrant.

After the face mask sits for 30 minutes, Stewart jumps into the shower and then chooses products based on how her skin feels that day. A frequent choice is Mario Badescu Facial Spray. Simple, gentle, and effective, the facial spray is the perfect way to achieve smooth and refreshed skin.

When it comes to serums, Stewart is a firm believer in layering. One of her favorite treatments is SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic Serum. This vitamin C serum protects skin from the environment while reducing the appearance of lines.

Another go-to for Stewart is the Mario Badescu Vitamin C Serum. The brightening serum uses Vitamin C, collagen, and lavender oil to reveal a luminous look for all skin types. It’s also known to reduce lines, scars, and tighten skin.

Stewart also blessed us with a third serum to try: BioEffect EGF Day Serum. This wrinkle-fighting treatment is ultra-hydrating and environmentally friendly. In fact, the serum only has 7 ingredients that are grown in the company’s ecologically-engineered greenhouses.

While Stewart’s skin may look superhuman, even she’s not immune to the sun. Her favorite sunscreen is SkinCeuticals Physical Fusion UV Defense SPF 50.

The lightweight product is water-resistant and boasts broad-spectrum sun protection while boosting the skin’s radiance. Stewart applies it right before going outside for maximum effectiveness.

After spending the day in the sun, it’s important to moisturize. Stewart most frequently opts for Yon-Ka Pamplemousse because it helps dry and dull skin regain its radiance.

She also uses Mario Badescu Revitalin Moisturizer, which visibly brightens and improves dull skin with allantoin and vitamin E.

With such a great skincare routine, Stewart shows us that age doesn’t matter when it comes to an incredible complexion. You just need a few good products!

Pamela Anderson Looks Straight From The Set Of ‘Baywatch’ At ‘Pamela, A Love Story’ Premiere https://www.suggest.com/pamela-anderson-looks-straight-from-set-baywatch-pamela-a-love-story-premiere/2722064/ Sun, 05 Feb 2023 19:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2722064 Pamela Anderson smiling and laughing while sitting in a chair on stage in a white dress

What’s more classic than Pamela Anderson in red? When you think of Vivien Leigh, she’s in the green curtain gown; when you think of Marilyn Monroe, you picture the white halter dress; and when you think of Pamela Anderson, you see her in that red swimsuit.

Sure, Anderson had countless iconic looks. So many, in fact, that TikTok invented the “#PamCore” trend in appreciation of the ’90s sex symbol. However, on Monday, Anderson proved that red is still her color.

At the LA premiere of her new Netflix documentary, Pamela: A Love Story, Anderson paid tribute to her days as C.J. Parker with a glamorous crimson Naeem Khan gown. The dress featured a scooped neckline, much like her Baywatch swimsuit.

She paired the floor-length piece with strappy red open-toed sandals. She wore her signature bleach-blonde locks in a perfect up-do that showed off her diamond drop earrings, and she kept her makeup look simple but glamorous.

In addition to feeding our ’90s nostalgia, Anderson also matched all of the Netflix logos at the premiere of her new film, which critics are already hailing as the ultimate tribute to the legendary public figure. The documentary dropped on the streaming service on January 31, the same day her memoir Love, Pamela hit shelves.

Both projects are incredibly raw and revealing portraits of a criminally unknown woman. Sure, everyone knows who Pamela Anderson is. They’ve seen a lot more of her physically than they have most other celebrities. However, like so many women in the public eye, Anderson never really had a voice.

Anderson even says in the film that it’s easy to watch Baywatch with the sound off. “It wasn’t actually about the storylines,” she quips. However, she insists she has good memories of her time on the show. “We were having a ball. We couldn’t even believe that we were working because we were on the beach every day getting paid for this.”

It wasn’t all blissful reminiscing, though. She also touched on some extremely painful moments of her life, including her experiences with sexual abuse and the infamous invasion of her and Tommy Lee’s home.

On that note, she was outspoken against the 2022 Hulu series Pam & Tommy which revisited the theft and subsequent distribution of her and Lee’s sex tape. So, with this documentary, Anderson is finally getting to set the record straight.

‘A Level Of Disrespect We’d Become Accustomed To’: Danny DeVito Played The Perfect Cruel Prank On His Co-Stars During ‘It’s Always Sunny’ https://www.suggest.com/danny-devito-level-disrespect-accustomed-to-played-perfect-cruel-prank-co-stars-its-always-sunny/2721723/ Sun, 05 Feb 2023 17:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2721723 Danny DeVito sitting between Charlie Day and Rob McElhenney on stage during a panel

The cast of the FX series It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia doesn’t just keep the jokes going on screen. Some of the best moments happened off the set for the actors. In fact, in the early years of the series, DeVito played the perfect cruel prank on his co-stars that still has them in stitches.

On The Always Sunny Podcast, Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton, and Rob McElhenney relive some of the best moments from the show. In a recent episode, the three shared that one of the most memorable moments happened off-set between them and DeVito.

Day explained that they were staying at a hotel in Washington D.C. before a screening of the show. “I think FX pays for the flight and the hotel. And we get to the hotel and they say, ‘Oh, we’re so sorry.’” Apparently, the staff said only one room had been booked for them.

Sadly, the stars quickly believed that FX had only paid for a single room for all of them. “It didn’t surprise us,” Day recounted. “It was so early in the show, and we were such a low budget thing. We were like, ‘Oh man. They’re sticking us all in one room together?’”

The hotel staff even took it a step further and apologetically told the cast that every other room was booked; they were going to have to sleep in the only room available. Looking at McElhenney, Day remarked, “I remember you were very unhappy.” McElhenney concurred and said, “I do not handle those situations well.”

Not only had they all just gotten off a long flight, McElhenney also felt disrespected. Still, the three actors gave in to the hotel staff’s request to at least take a look at the room. Once they entered the room, things got real when the hotel staff explained, “We have a cot set up in the corner.” To their horror, there actually was a cot waiting for one of them!

“It was a level of disrespect we had become accustomed to,” Howerton acknowledged. Finally, just before the exhausted actors barged out of the room, DeVito popped out of the closet. The three actors realized they had been pranked by the best.

The thing is, the prank never could have happened without the great acting by the hotel staff. Plus, even though they were four seasons into the series by this time, McElhenney recalled, “Everywhere we went, nobody knew the show … The suggestion that all four of us would stay in the same room was not that crazy.”

Even so, getting pranked by DeVito is worth it!

Prince Harry And Meghan Markle’s Charity Raised An Impressive Amount Of Money In 2022 https://www.suggest.com/prince-harry-meghan-markle-charity-raised-impressive-amount-money-2022/2721954/ Sun, 05 Feb 2023 15:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2721954 Meghan Markle smiling in a white dress with arm around Prince Harry in a black suit

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Archewell Foundation released their first official impact report since its 2020 formation, revealing just how much money they raised and where it ended up going.

Even though the Archewell Foundation was started in 2020, 2022 was the organization’s first full year of operation. In total, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex raised $13 million. This money was used to expand the foundation’s staff as well as donate to worthy causes.

Archewell Has Donated Millions So Far

So far, the Archewell Foundation has donated $3 million to organizations that promote vaccination equity, support women-owned small businesses, and aided Ukrainian and Afghan refugees.

Their report went into specifics, stating the money had provided 12.66 million COVID-19 vaccinations, helped resettle 174,497 refugees, served 50,000 meals to the hungry, and rescued 7,468 people from Afghanistan.

The Archewell Foundation also supported 13 academic fellowships at the Institute for Rebooting Social Media at Harvard University, helped create a positive masculinity guide, and worked to create a play space in Uvalde, Texas, following the tragic school shooting in that community.

Harry and Markle partnered with a variety of different charities and organizations to make these things happen, including Global Citizen, Operations Allies Welcome and Welcome.US, World Central Kitchen, and the Human First Coalition.

The Couple Volunteers Their Time As Well

The couple frequently talk about their dedication to charitable work and their commitment to lending a hand wherever they can. Harry and Meghan don’t just donate money, either. The couple volunteer their time and services as well.

In the summer of 2020, the duke and duchess showed up to hand out basic essentials, school supplies, hygiene products, clothing and meals to families in need at a Baby2Baby charity drive in Los Angeles.

What’s Next For The Archewell Foundation?

As the Archewell Foundation begins its third year, co-executive directors James Holt and Shauna Nep shared their goals for the upcoming year, including continuing an “unwavering commitment to key issues which have an overwhelming ripple effect on our collective well-being.”

“Dovetailing off of the impact we’ve made during this start-up phase, we will continue to build a better world online, work to restore trust in information, and above all, uplift communities online and offline, local and global,” the pair explained.

Harry and Markle have made humanitarian work their main focus as they shift away from the royal family. This report shows just how much of an impact their work has had on the world so far.

Why Did ‘Jeopardy!’ Use This Bizarrely Easy Category? It Felt Like An ‘SNL’ Joke https://www.suggest.com/why-did-jeopardy-use-bizarrely-easy-category-it-felt-like-snl-joke/2721590/ Sun, 05 Feb 2023 13:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2721590 screenshot of Ken Jennings looking serious hosting Jeopardy

Although the quiz show is more challenging than most other game shows, Jeopardy! writers chose to go with a ridiculously easy category recently. It was so simple that my young kids could have answered the clues correctly. In fact, it almost felt like we were watching an SNL skit with Will Ferrell as Alex Trebek.

In the episode that aired on January 24, 2023, the Jeopardy! round included a category with the title “What Season Is It?” Although fans of the show may have assumed that the category would include fun and challenging clues, the audience was disappointed to find that the category was simply about the four seasons. That’s right. Every correct response was either winter, spring, summer, or fall.

Although the answers could have included a unique take on baseball season or even tax season, the writers apparently kept it as simple as possible. In fact, since there are only four seasons but five clues in the category, one season was repeated. Fall (or autumn) was the correct response for both the $400 clue, “Olympic Peninsula Apple & Cider Festival,” and the $1000 clue, “Duck hunting season (not wabbit season) starts in Louisiana & Minnesota.”

Even if the clues in the category were uber difficult, contestants still had a one in four chance of responding with the correct season. Honestly, even preschool-age kids can name the four seasons, which means that it’s a no-brainer category for Jeopardy! players.

Since the quiz show provided such an effortless category to contestants, we’re wondering if SNL writers actually wrote the clues. After all, it seemed more like the hilarious skits where the celebrities were so dumb they couldn’t even name numbers. With the actual Jeopardy! approaching its 40th season—nearly 9,000 episodes of the quiz show and its spinoffs have aired so far—we’ll give the team a pass for the occasional boring category.

Reusable Toilet Paper Is A Thing, And It’s Not As Gross As You Might Think https://www.suggest.com/reusable-toilet-paper-bidet-overview/2722173/ Sun, 05 Feb 2023 12:30:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2722173 Hand pulling off a "sheet" of reusable toilet paper on a purple-and-cream background

As most (if not all) of us are well aware, there’s been an urgent push to use less plastic and produce less waste to preserve the planet. With this in mind, it’s no surprise that many reusable products have grown in popularity—including (gasp!) reusable toilet paper. While it may sound disgusting or unsanitary, it may actually be a viable alternative.

The United States uses the most toilet paper of any country in the world (a fact that was made quite evident by the TP panic at the start of the pandemic). The estimated annual toilet paper consumption for Americans is 141 rolls, beating out second-place Germany (134 rolls) and third-place United Kingdom (127). Compared to countries like France (71), Italy (70), China (49), and Brazil (38), it’s not a very flattering look for the U.S.

According to Justin Thomas, editor of MetaEfficient, Americans use 36.5 billion rolls of toilet paper each year, which represents the pulping of approximately 15 million trees. “This also involves 473,587,500,000 gallons of water to produce the paper and 253,000 tons of chlorine for bleaching,” he told The Scientific American.

Plus, manufacturing all that toilet paper requires 17.3 terawatts of electricity, not to mention the energy and materials used in packaging and transportation. On a more personal level, toilet paper can clog pipes and wreak havoc on city sewer systems and water treatment plants.

How are countries like Italy and Brazil getting by with so much less toilet paper? Well, it’s often because they don’t need to use nearly as much—and they have bidets to thank for that. Although Americans tend to have an aversion to using bidets, for much of the world, using toilet paper seems more disgusting.

What many non-Americans seem to know and understand is that cleaning your bum with a stream of water is actually more environmentally friendly than using toilet paper. You might think a bidet requires a lot of water every time you use it, but a typical bidet actually only uses about a ⅛ gallon of water to flush. By contrast, the average toilet uses about four gallons per flush.

So why are so many Americans against using water to clean themselves instead of dry paper? Think about it this way: If you stepped in dog poop with your bare feet, you’d probably use more than just sheets of paper to clean it off.

Thankfully, there’s a more sustainable alternative to using all that standard toilet paper: reusable toilet paper. If you think reusing toilet paper sounds gross (can’t say we blame you), consider pairing it with a bidet.

Once the bidet has gotten you good and clean, you’ll essentially just be wiping away water (much like toweling off after a shower). You can wrap the reusable “toilet paper” around a regular TP roll, and once you’ve run through them, simply pop them into the washer. The Marley’s Monsters Toilet UNpaper® Roll, handmade in Eugene, Oregon, is made of 100% cotton flannel that can be washed in hot water.

As for choosing a bidet, you can typically buy one that attaches to your traditional toilet for less than $50. The Luxe Bidet NEO 185, for example, features dual nozzles for rear and frontal wash, plus a feminine nozzle that keeps you clean during monthly cycles (and can help ward off UTIs!). Pair your bidet with planet-friendly reusable toilet paper, and you’ll never fall victim to a toilet paper shortage again.

Your Daily Horoscope: February 5, 2023 https://www.suggest.com/daily-horoscope-february-5-2023/2722335/ Sun, 05 Feb 2023 11:15:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2722335 Daily horoscope 2/5

This Sunday, the full Moon and Sun directly oppose each other in the 11th House of Friendships under Leo and the 5th House of Pleasure under Aquarius, respectively. Leo and Aquarius are both markedly egotistical, which makes this stand-off between our pride and vulnerability all the more volatile. The stars urge us to proceed with caution.

What do the cosmos have in store for your sign today?

Aries

Mar 21 – Apr 19

You are well-equipped to handle this confrontation. But that might not be the case for everyone involved. Speak your piece, but do so tactfully. You don’t need to twist the knife deeper to get your point across, Aries.

Taurus

Apr 20 – May 20

Be cautious of investing in external endeavors or relationships too heavily, Taurus. Once you get an idea in your head, there isn’t much that can change your mind. However, this lends itself to illogical and irrational thinking.

Gemini

May 21 – Jun 20

Ignoring your problems won’t make them go away. On the contrary, this will likely only exacerbate them. As tempting as it might be to stick your head in the sand, you’d be wise to keep your eyes forward on the path ahead.

Cancer

Jun 21 – Jul 22

The sooner you nip these miscommunications in the bud, the sooner all parties can start feeling better. You mustn’t let this issue fester and grow into something worse, Cancer. Take control of the situation while you still can.

Leo

Jul 23 – Aug 22

Don’t underestimate your ability to stand in your own way, Leo. Our ego has a funny way of making us misinterpret our immediate surroundings. If you have a question, ask. And if you have a grievance, then air it.

Virgo

Aug 23 – Sep 22

Be wary of losing yourself in fantasy. Your need to be correct about situations or people carries the risk of blinding you to fulfill this wish. But you can’t change reality, Virgo. So, it’s critical that you remain rooted in it.

Libra

Sep 23 – Oct 22

Perhaps the reason this exploration isn’t as satisfying as you’d like is that you are searching the wrong places. Try redirecting your route for a while. You might be surprised by how much you like the change in direction.

Scorpio

Oct 23 – Nov 21

Even if you feel like you aren’t making much progress, there is still plenty of work you can do from your current standpoint. Gather all the information you can. This will prove useful to you further down the road, Scorpio.

Sagittarius

Nov 22 – Dec 21

When we put too much focus on the accomplishment itself, we start to lose sight of the “why.” Why are you pursuing this endeavor? Why is it important? The stars urge you to reacquaint yourself with these ideas.

Capricorn

Dec 22 – Jan 19

Pushing back the status quo of any kind takes diligence and confidence. The former is no problem for you. However, if you find yourself struggling with the latter, all you have to do is pretend. That’ll do the trick, Cap.

Aquarius

Jan 20 – Feb 18

Changing our mindset is a difficult task. In order to do so, we must first identify where we were wrong—and frankly, that exercise is tiresome and disheartening. But the wisdom that lies on the other side is worth it.

Pisces

Feb 19 – Mar 20

The stars urge you to use your empathy to your advantage today, Pisces. Pay close attention to your emotional state and the signals coming from others. While it isn’t foolproof, it is a good indicator of what to do next.

February 5-11 Horoscope: Time To Trim The Fat https://www.suggest.com/february-5-11-horoscope-time-to-trim-the-fat/2722239/ Sun, 05 Feb 2023 11:05:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2722239 Weekly horoscope 2/5-11

This week, a full Moon begins in the 11th House of Friendship under Leo and arrives at the weekend in the 1st House of Self under Libra. While under the 11th House early in the week, the Moon will directly oppose the Sun under Aquarius. Lunar-solar oppositions often bring about great emotional energy and motivation—good and bad.

Meanwhile, Ceres and Haumea join Makemake in retrograde, creating a powerful trio of RG dwarf planets. These smaller planets typically don’t affect us as strongly as their larger counterparts. However, their placement in the 1st and 2nd House of Self and Value, respectively, keeps their energy tangibly close.

How will your sign fare this week?

Aries

Mar 21 – Apr 19

There is a large difference between catering to the needs you think others expect of you and tending to what your body and soul legitimately crave. It isn’t your job to make your mental wellness journey pretty or digestible to those around you.

On the contrary, this is an extremely personal endeavor. Your ability to navigate it honestly will directly affect your progress. Your inner psyche is the one place you shouldn’t have to pretend, Aries. Be real with yourself, at the very least.

Taurus

Apr 20 – May 20

Despite your steadfast stubborn streak, you’ve done a tremendous job trying out new ideas, techniques, or habits. Now, the fun can begin. The stars urge you to take adequate time to reflect on these novel endeavors—emphasis on adequate.

While it might be tempting to brush this exercise off quickly, you’d be wise to meditate on the issue a bit longer. Take stock of your emotional and mental state. The cues your body will send you won’t be flashy and obvious. Look for answers in the subtleties.

Gemini

May 21 – Jun 20

The cosmos indicate a communicative challenge further up the road. Rather than letting this dishearten you, allow it to motivate you. Social interaction is your bread and butter, Gemini. If anyone could find a creative way around this obstacle, it would be you.

If needed, lean harder on your values and beliefs this week. These pillars of your identity will strengthen your resolve in the face of chaotic, messy human emotion. Great prosperity lies on the other side of this challenge. All you have to do is get there.

Cancer

Jun 21 – Jul 22

Be careful not to brush your platonic relationships aside, Cancer. As lovesick as you might be, there is far more to life than just that kind of love. Moreover, our mental wellness depends on us maintaining and enjoying relationships of all kinds, romantic or otherwise.

Of course, these non-romantic bonds can sometimes require even more effort than their lovey-dovey counterparts. And although this might be uncomfortable at first, facing these challenges head-on is crucial to our overall growth. Work through the tension. It will be worth it.

Leo

Jul 23 – Aug 22

Just because you’re used to being the star of the show doesn’t mean you always will be. The sooner you can accept the importance of the ensemble’s role, the happier you will be in the natural ebb and flow of life. Other people need to enjoy the spotlight, too.

Besides, Leo—there are no small roles, only small actors. Believe it or not, there is a way to shine even when all eyes aren’t on you. Focus on your perception of yourself. Create an internal performance worthy of watching and admiring.

Virgo

Aug 23 – Sep 22

Your ability to solve even the toughest of problems is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it can (and has) gotten you out of many pickles throughout your life. But on the other hand, it can make it difficult for you to know when it’s time to call it quits.

Some problems aren’t worth solving. Similarly, some people aren’t worth keeping around in your life. The challenge isn’t getting over this dilemma or squabbling. It’s figuring out whether or not it’s worth the energy to work on it.

Libra

Sep 23 – Oct 22

The time crunch you feel while deciding whether to pursue this endeavor is largely self-made, Libra. No one is pushing you in either direction except yourself. So, relax, take a breath, and consider your options carefully. You have plenty of time.

Not only is this reflection helpful. But it’s also overwhelmingly essential for making a well-informed decision. Choices we make while deep in the throes of an adrenaline rush are rarely the most efficient or productive. Keep your mind clear and open.

Scorpio

Oct 23 – Nov 21

Despite your usually clear perception of others, your insecurities are trying to convince you that everyone else has it more figured out than you do. In times like these, it’s critical that you can separate intuition from anxiety. They might feel the same, but they couldn’t be more different.

You aren’t as far off from your goals as you think you are, Scorpio. Gather your thoughts, rely on your knowledge, and have faith in your ability to adapt. You are more than capable of handling this situation.

Sagittarius

Nov 22 – Dec 21

Be wary of collecting trophies just to collect them. Your words, actions, and, even more importantly, affiliations matter, Sag. It isn’t enough to have good intentions in your head and heart. Other people can’t perceive these as well as you think they can.

And if you continue to power past them, burning bridges and making tidal waves in your wake, then they never will. It’s your job to speak your mind clearly and to follow the golden rule. If you wouldn’t want it happening to you, then why would they?

Capricorn

Dec 22 – Jan 19

Emotions are notoriously messy and unpredictable. So, if they happen to catch you by surprise, don’t let it get under your skin. You haven’t failed the situation. You’re experiencing the situation. There is a difference, even if it doesn’t feel like it.

Indeed, the former implies a dead-end—a stop. But the latter offers room for growth, education, and empathy. Surely, someone as pragmatic as you doesn’t need the stars telling you which perspective is the more productive one to adopt.

Aquarius

Jan 20 – Feb 18

No one figures life out on their own, Aquarius. The people in your life aren’t anchors, nor are they stepping stones. They are links in a larger chain, just like you. Just as you strengthen them, they do the same for you—but you have to let them do so.

Ironically, your concerns about being tied down have become deadweights in their own right. The relationships aren’t the problem; your self-destructive tendencies to alienate and remove yourself are. What’s the harm in leaning on someone else for once?

Pisces

Feb 19 – Mar 20

The stars indicate an immense need for self-reflection this week, Pisces. As such, it’s all the more important that you keep your feet grounded and your head out from above the clouds. You’ll need to be sharp to handle the obstacles waiting for you just ahead.

Luckily, the stars also seem to be lining in your favor. If you approach these dilemmas with curiosity and a willingness to communicate, then they will likely result in significant, positive transformation. Avoid self-deprecating rabbit holes at all costs.

A Timeline Of John Oliver’s Relationship With His Wife, Iraq Veteran Kate Norley https://www.suggest.com/john-oliver-wife-kate-norley/2722004/ Sat, 04 Feb 2023 23:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2722004 John Oliver (L) in black suit and tie standing next to Kate Norley, who is wearing a black gown

John Oliver got his first big career boost on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (1999-2015) in 2006. Stewart, on Ricky Gervais’ recommendation, summoned Oliver across the pond to the United States from his native England (according to The Hollywood Reporter).

After scoring various gigs over the years, Oliver received his very own program, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, in 2014. The Emmy-winning series has wowed viewers and critics alike. The show is believed by some to be so influential that it gets credited for having “the John Oliver effect” on legislation and popular culture.

Oliver’s wife, Kate Norley, who is from Arlington, Virginia, is truly a remarkable person in her own right. We looked into who she is and what the Olivers’ relationship is like. Here’s the lowdown on the amazing woman who shares the humorist’s life.

Who Is Kate Norley?

Kate Norley has definitely faced her share of major challenges. At the age of 16, she was struck by a vehicle while riding her bicycle. She sustained a head injury that was so severe she had to re-learn basic skills such as writing and reading.

However, that did not deter her from enlisting in the U.S. Army just three years later at age 19, motivated by a desire to serve following the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

Norley, an Iraq War veteran, was a mental health specialist who helped soldiers who were dealing with emotional trauma. She was also a counselor and a combat medic.

Norley has expressed tremendous gratitude for her military service, which she felt helped her to push her boundaries in unexpected ways. “The Army has given me a chance to do things I never dreamed I was capable of doing.”

Oliver has voiced his unabashed admiration for Norley, calling her “one of [his] heroes,” Parade reported. “I’m incredibly proud of her for everything that she did and has done and is continuing to do and supporting everyone who she has served with.”

Even after her military service ended, Norley ardently wanted to continue to support our troops and veterans.

Working with an organization called Vets for Freedom, her activities have included advocating for funding to assist veterans and speaking out on their behalf on national media outlets such as Fox News (per Yahoo).

Norley also reportedly supports Team Rubicon. They describe themselves as “a veteran-led humanitarian organization” that responds following disasters and crises.

John Oliver Met His Wife At The 2008 Republican National Convention

Oliver and Norley first crossed paths in 2008 at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota. There’s a bit more to the story, however.

Oliver, who was covering the GOP gathering for The Daily Show, was in a restricted area on the second level of the venue, the Xcel Energy Center, stated The Hollywood Reporter.

With event security taking notice and carrying only a temporary work visa, Oliver could have landed in big trouble. He was even at risk for deportation!

Fortunately, Norley—who was there with Vets for Freedom—along with other veterans who were in attendance, came to Oliver’s rescue by concealing him.

Looking back on it, Oliver tersely assessed his plight on that day. “The end result is romantic; at the time, it just felt harrowing.”

As for Oliver and Norley, they were friends for a while, then they began dating. Their relationship clearly caught fire and blossomed.

They Married In October 2011

Oliver proposed to Norley in July 2010 while they were vacationing in St. Thomas after they had been seeing each other for a couple of years.

“I was a medic in the Army,” Norley told People. “It was difficult, but right now it’s nice that I get to spend time with the love of my life.”

Oliver characteristically joshed, “It’s the most emasculating thing I could possibly do to go out with someone who has actually done something valuable with their life.”

Evidently, the comedian’s joke couldn’t be further from the truth. Oliver doesn’t see his wife’s success as emasculating. In fact, he sometimes wears a 1st Cavalry Division pin on his lapel to honor Norley’s patriotism, bravery, and military service.

Oliver and Norley make their home in New York City, close to the studio where he tapes Last Week Tonight.

They Share Two Sons

The Olivers became a happy trio in 2015 when their son was born. Near the conclusion of an episode of Last Week Tonight, Oliver said, “I have a son. He is 19 months old. He was born prematurely following a very difficult pregnancy.”

In 2018, at the Emmy Awards Governors Ball, Oliver told People that he and Norley had a second child three months earlier.

Oliver had his reasons for not trumpeting the birth of his and Norley’s new baby. It wasn’t because he’s not a genuinely proud papa. As he wittily told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show (per The Hollywood Reporter), “We didn’t really announce it because it doesn’t matter. To me, it matters a great deal. Let me make that clear.”

He continued, “This is not a royal baby. In terms of how far in line he is to the throne, it’s a peasant. I have a peasant child. So it didn’t even cross my mind that we should make a public thing about it.”

In 2015, Oliver said cheekily to Vanity Fair that “he has entertained thoughts of giving his children ‘whatever the opposite of elocution lessons are, a kind of reverse-Pygmalion process: ‘By George, I think she’s lost it!’”

John Oliver and Kate Norley evidently have a solid partnership. He has been totally supportive and conspicuously admiring of her military service. It seems as though they are each present for the other publicly and privately, a key ingredient for a happy, enduring marriage.

‘I Don’t Want To Be Married To Nobody’s Dusty-Ass Son:’ A Therapist Defends Her ‘Rich Auntie’ Life https://www.suggest.com/aishia-grevenberg-defends-rich-auntie-life/2722175/ Sat, 04 Feb 2023 22:30:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2722175 L: A screengrab of Aishia Grevenberg on TikTok, R: Image of a crossed-out diamond ring

For every decision a woman makes, there’s usually someone to tell her that decision is wrong. It’s 2023 and people are still judging (and passing laws about) what women can and cannot do. If a woman makes the decision not to get married or have kids, her personal choice should be celebrated—not questioned, mocked, or discussed at length.

Therapist Aishia Grevenberg uses her platform to talk about a variety of topics. She often makes posts about dating for pleasure, weaponized incompetence, and toxic relationships, among other subjects. In a recent post, she had the perfect response to a misogynistic podcaster who had some … interesting things to say about the “rich auntie lifestyle.”

The podcaster claimed that the rich auntie life is “an excuse for a woman [who’s] not ready for responsibility or commitment.” Grevenberg responded by laying out her reasoning for the way she lives her life, with many comments commending her.

It’s ridiculous that she even had to make a video explaining her life choices in the first place. But until women can live their lives however they see fit without question, we’ll likely continue feeling the need to defend our decisions.

Grevenberg began her reel by saying, “I’m literally just trying to live my life, my rich auntie life. Let me help you understand what that is.” Her reasons were concise and perfectly understandable.

1. “I Don’t Have Children (Because I Don’t Want Them)”

There are so many reasons a woman might make the deeply personal choice not to have children. Grevenberg got straight to the point: She doesn’t have kids because she doesn’t want to have kids, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have any responsibilities.

Along with being a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist, Grevenberg dedicates time to giving her dog Sage “her best life.” She added that she’s not married because she doesn’t want to be married to “nobody’s dusty-ass son.” Grevenberg then explained that she dates for pleasure (a frequent topic of her posts) rather than for marriage.

2. “I Have A Lot Of Money [And] I Spend It On Me”

Grevenberg said that living a “rich auntie life” is about living for your own happiness: doing whatever you want to do when you want to do it with no apologies. As she put it, “A rich auntie lifestyle is about saying, ‘I have made a deliberate, conscious choice that marriage is not for me and children are not for me. I am for me’ … That’s what a rich auntie is.” We applaud her for knowing what she wants and what she doesn’t want.

Naomi Watts’ 40-Year-Old Throwback Shows She’s Always Advocated For Confidence About Body Changes https://www.suggest.com/naomi-watts-throwback-shows-always-advocated-confidence-about-body-changes/2721872/ Sat, 04 Feb 2023 21:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2721872 Naomi Watts smiles in cream-colored dress

Naomi Watts has always been open about her experiences with hormonal changes and encourages all women to be confident in their own skin. In fact, she’s been an advocate for positive change in this arena for over 40 years!

Watts just posted a fantastic side-by-side image on her Instagram. On the left, we see a throwback photo from a tampon commercial she did as a teenager with the caption “When can I start using tampons?” On the right appears a photo of the actress in a similar pose, asking a similar question about lubricant.

Watts, 54, asked in the post, “Why is it that we can talk about periods and puberty with ease, but when it comes to menopause, and yes, dryness… we all get a little skittish…. I created this post in an attempt to capture a woman’s hormonal bookends.”

However, as women age, so do their bodies. For far too long, menopause has been a taboo topic, but Watts wants to change that. In reference to the current-day photo of herself, Watts said, “[This] is a take on what it could look like if we tackled midlife hormonal challenges with the same kind of boldness.”

The actress is no stranger to hormonal changes in midlife. In fact, Watts experienced perimenopause in her 30s and was shocked to find a lack of resources and community on the topic.

She decided to do something about that by talking openly about her experience. As she said in the post, “When it comes to the ‘adult version’ of hormonal changes we’re thrust into the shadows of secrecy and shame… with a total lack of information, plus misinformation!”

But the actress is more than just talk. In fact, Watts founded Stripes, a company that believes that menopause isn’t a dirty word. The brand offers resources, education, and most importantly, a community to women who are experiencing perimenopause and menopause.

After all, as Watts pointed out, “More than 1 billion people worldwide will be menopausal by 2025.” That’s a lot of people who can support one another and break the stigma of menopause.

We’re thrilled to see Watts come full circle from promoting period protection as a teen to providing resources and a place for women to openly talk about menopause. It’s a cause we’re eager to get behind.

The Surprising Connection Between Grace Kelly And Princess Diana’s Iconic Philadelphia Eagles Jacket https://www.suggest.com/grace-kelly-princess-diana-surprising-connection-iconic-philadelphia-eagles-jacket/2721862/ Sat, 04 Feb 2023 19:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2721862 side by side photos of Grace Kelly and Princess Diana in her Eagles jacket

Princess Diana and Grace Kelly have left strikingly similar legacies. They were both quite young when they were thrusted into royal life. They were both beloved by their people, and, most bizarrely, both of their lives were cut short in tragic car accidents.

Yet, despite their many similarities, it only seems like they met once before Kelly’s death in 1982. According to taped recordings Diana provided for Andrew Morton’s biography Diana: Her True Story—In Her Own Words, she met Kelly at a musical recital at Goldsmiths’ Hall in 1981, shortly before marrying Charles.

“It was a horrendous occasion … At the time everything was all over the place. I remember that evening so well. I was terrified—nearly sick.” Diana remembered Kelly pulling her into a private conversation in the bathroom and telling her, “Don’t worry, it’ll only get worse.”

Kelly died the following year at just 52 years old. However, Diana carried an unexpected connection to Kelly for years in the form of her iconic Philadelphia Eagles jacket.

During a recent episode of Royally Obsessed, Rachel Bowie and Roberta Fiorito took a dive into Diana’s unexpected connection to Kelly. Citing the Philadelphia Enquirer, the podcasters revealed that Princess Diana was gifted the iconic NFL merchandise after a chance encounter at Grace Kelly’s funeral.

Apparently, while paying her respects to the late Princess of Monaco, she met Philadelphia Eagles statistician Jack Edelstein, who was a longtime friend of Kelly’s brother. Edelstein later looked back on their fateful meeting, calling the princess a “very warm person, very sweet, very kind.”

Inquiring about his profession, Diana asked Edelstein what the Philadelphia Eagles’ team colors were. Of course, he informed her that the players wore green and silver. “Those are my favorite colors,” Diana apparently replied, and it stuck in his memory.

Inspired by their interaction, Edelstein convinced the team’s owner at the time, Leonard Tose, to put together a bag of Eagles merchandise as a gift to the princess. Of course, that included her custom Eagles bomber jacket.

Diana loved the gift and told Edelstein as much in a thank you letter. She proceeded to wear the letterman jacket on multiple occasions—for years it was one of her go-to casual pieces. A photo of her wearing it even graced the cover of People magazine.

It’s unknown where the jacket ended up after Diana’s death in 1997, but it’s most likely in one of her sons’ possessions. The jacket was a powerful symbol of Diana’s individuality, and it’s still one of her most memorable pieces of clothing to this day. Not to mention, given its connection to Grace Kelly, it’s a piece of royal history!

Curious Who The Masked Celeb Is In The Downy Commercials? We Have Some Ideas On Their Identity https://www.suggest.com/curious-who-masked-celeb-is-in-downy-commercials-we-have-some-ideas-on-identity/2721671/ Sat, 04 Feb 2023 17:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2721671 screenshot of a man with a blue hoodie draped over his head from a Downy commercial

Does Downy Unstoppables really keep clothes fresh for 12 weeks? Well, the company has recruited a mystery celebrity to put the product to the test.

Back in December, Downy Unstoppables began premiering a series of commercials featuring an unidentified celebrity. Throughout each 30-second ad, the anonymous celebrity wears a blue sweatshirt over his face, constantly sniffing the material to put the laundry product to the test. The commercials will build up to a 30-second Super Bowl commercial where the celebrity will reveal his face.

Downy Unstoppables’ First Official Super Bowl Ad

According to Marketing Dive, Downy Unstoppables has indeed purchased a 30-second ad spot for the Super Bowl LVII on Fox. This is a huge move for Downy’s parent company, Procter & Gamble, which hasn’t advertised during the Super Bowl in more than a decade.

Back in 2012, Downy Unstoppables premiered its commercial with Amy Sedaris and “Mean” Joe Greene of the Pittsburgh Stealers during the Super Bowl pregame. However, this is the first time the brand will advertise during the game itself.

The first commercial premiered on December 12 and was titled, “I’m Not Doing It Yet.” The short ad is just the first of many in the two-month long ad campaign titled “Believe.” They each follow a similar format in which the anonymous celebrity professes his skepticism over the product’s effectiveness.

“Downy Unstoppables wants to use my face for their Super Bowl ad, but I haven’t agreed yet, because I don’t believe it keeps your clothes fresh for over 12 weeks,” the masked celebrity begins the first advertisement. “So, I’m going to sniff this thing until the Super Bowl to see if it’s true. But until then, I’m totally hiding my identity.”

The Ads Apparently Contain Easter Eggs

There have been five commercials so far, and, according to a spokesperson for the company, they each contain hints and easter eggs regarding the celebrity’s identity. That could refer to the script, the various guest characters, or the many props around the laundry room set.

Sitting on the shelf behind the masked celebrity are some books, trophies, figurines, a photo, and two drumsticks sticking out of a jar. We’ve parsed through the videos and haven’t been able to decode all the cryptic items—that’s if they’re easter eggs at all!

Meanwhile, viewers have shared their guesses in the YouTube comment sections. Some heard the celebrity’s deep voice and immediately guessed comedian Rob Riggle. Others are certain it’s Righteous Gemstones actor Danny McBride underneath the blue sweatshirt.

We aren’t confident enough to cast our votes just yet, but we’ll certainly be tuning into the big reveal on February 12! In the meantime, we’ll be re-watching these commercials on the regular to see what hints we’re missing. At this point, your guess is as good as ours!

Kate Middleton’s Uncharacteristically Bold Earrings Had A Secret Meaning https://www.suggest.com/kate-middleton-uncharacteristically-bold-earrings-had-secret-meaning/2721788/ Sat, 04 Feb 2023 15:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2721788 Kate Middleton smiles in closeup image while wearing pale pink scarf and burgundy jacket

Kate Middleton is a style icon who often sends subtle messages through her fashion choices and accessories. At a recent event, the Princess of Wales wore a pair of bold earrings that were a bit of a departure from her usual style. As it turns out, there was a reason for her choice.

Middleton looked stunning at a January 30 event she attended for the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood. The princess wore a bright red Alexander McQueen dress paired with some chunky silver earrings—which were noteworthy for their boldness as Middleton tends to keep her accessories understated.

(Eddie Mulholland – WPA Pool/Getty Images)

The earrings were made by Chalk, a design studio in London that creates unusual geometric jewelry. All of the studio’s items are handmade by architect Malaika, who loves fusing her love of design and buildings with jewelry.

Since all of Chalk’s pieces are influenced by architectural elements, the dangling pair donned by Middleton paid homage to the Royal Opera House of London.

According to the company, “The regal forms from the ornate details and geometry found within the Main stage auditorium ceiling of the Royal Opera House has been reimagined throughout this collaboration to create a timeless collection.”

The London landmark holds special meaning to Middleton and Prince William. The Royal Opera House was where Princess Diana surprised her husband, then-Prince Charles, by dancing on stage with ballet dancer Wayne Sleep.

The two danced a routine choreographed to “Uptown Girl” by Billy Joel in December 1985 that delighted fans, media, and of course Diana’s husband.

The earrings also represent Middleton’s dedication to sustainability and affordability. When the princess appears in public, she often sports items that are budget-friendly.

This time is no different since the gold and regency green earrings retail for £75.00 or roughly $92 dollars. Plus, the jewelry is made to order—which means less waste— and composed of naturally occurring elements such as walnut and gold.

Although it’s rare to see the princess wear such bold dangling earrings, she has donned this pair before. Back in June 2022, Middleton first wore them to the unveiling of the National Windrush Monument at London’s Waterloo Station. She sported them for a second time when she and her husband visited Elevate, a youth program in South London.

We love seeing the princess meld her passion for affordability and sustainability in pieces that have secret meanings. We’ll be on the lookout for the next symbolic fashion choice she makes!

‘Should I Have Stayed Home?’—’Jeopardy!’ Competitor Describes Terrifying Moment He Recognized Multi-Day Champion Before The Game https://www.suggest.com/jeopardy-jake-dearruda-describes-terrifying-moment-recognized-multi-day-champ-before-game/2721459/ Sat, 04 Feb 2023 13:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2721459 'Jeopardy!' contestant Jake DeArruda smiles on stage against blue backdrop

Most Jeopardy! contestants appear cool, calm, and collected while competing on air. However, one player’s blog has revealed the behind-the-scenes moment that had him wondering if he should’ve just stayed home.

Jake DeArruda, a delivery dispatcher from Vermont, recently competed on the game show against Dee Williams and then-reigning champion Troy Meyer. DeArruda’s detailed blog gave fans an inside look at how he felt playing against Meyer.

“In most cases, contestants will never know who the reigning champion is, as the shows air months after they are taped,” DeArruda admitted. However, he knew exactly who Meyer was when they met because of his many deep dives on various quiz show statistics websites.

DeArruda shared that Meyer was “the top ranked United States quizzer in the 2021 standings in the World Quizzing Championship,” so it’s understandable that he was a little intimidated at the thought of going up against him.

DeArruda also shared that he was also relieved that he didn’t have to face Cris Pannullo, a champ with a 21-day streak.

Should I have stayed home or waited five more years?” DeArruda joked in his post about his nerves. “Is this worse than playing Cris? Probably not.” He noted that Meyer had only won two games at that point and didn’t have the “buzzer experience” that Pannullo did.

In another post, DeArruda broke down the games he played against Meyer, who he calls “the real deal.” He also shared the advice other contestants gave him about playing against Meyer, including buzzing in “aggressively” to answer before him.

DeArruda might have been nervous to take on a trivia champion like Meyer, but it looks like all that worrying wasn’t necessary—he won the game, ending Meyer’s six-day winning streak and kick-starting his own current winning streak.

Even though his time on Jeopardy! has come to an end, Meyer is already looking ahead to future games in the upcoming Tournament of Champions.

“Cris [Pannullo] is obviously an incredible player and somebody that I’ll certainly be looking for in the ToC,” Meyer said. “[I plan] to bring my game and play as well as I can.”

DeArruda’s episodes are still airing, so it’s unknown how long his own winning streak will continue, but fans of the game show are loving his detailed blog posts about his games and his relatable nerves when it comes to facing a champion.

Monochromatic outfits are another great way to make yourself appear longer and leaner. Many of us love our all-black ensembles or other dark colors to smooth over the areas we want a little more coverage.

While most of these tips focus on color and style, the fabrics you wear can also have a profound effect on your silhouette—and this goes beyond how stretchy, thin, or lightweight they might be. In this case, we’re talking about wearing a very specific fabric.

Metallic fabric is eye-catching in a way that, with the proper styling, can produce an instant slimming effect. We know flashy metallic may not be the first fabric you think of when it comes to hiding unwanted curves, but it makes sense when you think about it.

A metallic texture plays on the principle of light and shadow to guide the eye. Similar to the way light is used in paintings and makeup to draw the eye to some areas and away from others (think: highlighting and contouring), metallics can reflect light to visually slim your figure.

Using the right combination of metallic pieces with solid-colored basics will help you achieve this amazing sculpting effect. We’ve rounded up some of the best ways to incorporate metallics into your wardrobe.

Metallic Jackets

Try pairing a metallic jacket with a neutral top and bottom to highlight the glam. You can see below how the shorter, structured jacket with a looser bottom helps cinch the waist and flatten the tummy, instantly resulting in a slimmer silhouette.

Levi’s Faux-Leather Moto Jacket

  • Available in sizes XS-XL.
  • Fits true to size.

On the other hand, you could choose a longer jacket to elongate your figure and make the metallic fabric the defining feature of your ensemble.

  • Available in sizes XS-3X.
  • Multiple colors available (Rose Gold and Pink).
  • Fits true to size.

Metallic Skirts

Metallic skirts are super in this season, but to achieve maximum va va voom, opt for a high-waisted A-line skirt. The shiny, flowy movement on bottom will help create a beautifully balanced appearance.

Metallic Pants

We’ve also noticed some modern iterations of the fierce glam rock pants from the ’70s and ’80s. While embracing similar heavy metal hues, this high-shine trend kicks tackiness to the curb. Consider balancing out your look by pairing a wide leg with a more figure-hugging top.

Alternatively, you can match a pair of skinny metallic bottoms with a black top and/or long jacket to slim your upper half.

Express High-Waisted Metallic Skinny Jeans

$80 Shop Now at Express
  • Available in sizes 00-14.
  • Runs small, consider sizing up.

No matter what style you choose, the key to making metallic fabrics look chic is to invest in quality-made pieces. Opt for leather or faux leather metallics, silks or satins, and as much as possible, avoid polyester.

Your Daily Horoscope: February 4, 2023 https://www.suggest.com/daily-horoscope-february-4-2023/2721978/ Sat, 04 Feb 2023 11:15:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2721978 Daily horoscope 2/4

This Saturday, a full Moon in Cancer directly opposes Pluto under Capricorn. This cosmic alignment suggests powerful transformations that will be revealed in the full Moon’s light. It will be essential to keep an eye on our emotional states and immediate environments today, as our proximity to both tends to blind us to their realities. These revelations might not be easy to experience, but they are critical nonetheless.

Where does your sign fit into the mix today?

Aries

Mar 21 – Apr 19

Sometimes we’re required to remain stagnant for brief periods in order to have adequate financial and mental resources when it’s time to move forward. This is all part of the process, Aries. Trust it (and yourself).

Taurus

Apr 20 – May 20

Rather than forcing yourself to conjure up motivation, consider whether your body is trying to tell you something. Not everything in life has to be an endurance contest, Taurus. If you need to rest, then you ought to take it.

Gemini

May 21 – Jun 20

You’re quick to assume that everyone around you has good intentions, and that’s certainly an admirable habit. But be careful not to fall in love with the ideas of people, Gemini. You must remain grounded in the present moment.

Cancer

Jun 21 – Jul 22

Don’t underestimate the ability of nuisances to hide in plain sight in our immediate environment. Indeed, our sense of comfort can blind us to what’s right in front of us. Take a closer look, even if you think it isn’t entirely necessary.

Leo

Jul 23 – Aug 22

Your pride makes it difficult to welcome new ideas readily, but your warm heart is far more welcoming. Try to prioritize the latter as you venture into this new opportunity, Leo. There will always be time to edit and improve later.

Virgo

Aug 23 – Sep 22

Even someone as logical as you can fall victim to the fantasy of a honeymoon phase, Virgo. While you should certainly enjoy this positive endeavor, the stars urge you to keep a watchful eye open for potential missteps.

Libra

Sep 23 – Oct 22

Just because you have the urge to help doesn’t necessarily mean you must act on it. Despite what your people-pleasing tendencies are telling you, there is a way to express solid empathy without overextending yourself, Libra.

Scorpio

Oct 23 – Nov 21

The universe offers an intense emotional revelation today, Scorpio. Be sure that you’re in a proper headspace to receive it. As uncomfortable as this vulnerability might feel, the stars suggest great prosperity lies just ahead of it.

Sagittarius

Nov 22 – Dec 21

As nice as it would be to get everything right on the first try, trial and error is an inevitability of life. Don’t let minor missteps and start-overs dishearten you. You’re making more progress than you think, Sag.

Capricorn

Dec 22 – Jan 19

When things get intense and overwhelming, it’s best to look into our pre-existing toolbox to find a solution. There is a way to utilize your strengths and skills to overcome this dilemma, Cap. You got this.

Aquarius

Jan 20 – Feb 18

Involving yourself in your community won’t diminish your shine; it will brighten the glow of yourself and others around you. The life of a lone wolf trendsetter is a lonely one, Aquarius. Stop alienating yourself for no reason.

Pisces

Feb 19 – Mar 20

As tempting as it might be to make a rash decision and get out of this predicament quickly, the stars urge against this tactic. Your future self will be grateful that you took the necessary time to reflect, analyze, and redirect.

How Much It Costs To Use The ‘Ghostbusters’ Song In A Show Is Mind Boggling https://www.suggest.com/how-much-it-costs-to-use-ghostbusters-song-in-show-is-mind-boggling/2721326/ Fri, 03 Feb 2023 23:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2721326 screenshot of the Ghostbusters walking up the courtyard of the Empire State Building in uniform

Have you ever wondered just how much copyrighted music costs TV and film productions? It’s a huge expense to be sure. However, it turns out that the price for the 1984 hit song “Ghostbusters” blows even some of the most recognizable tracks out of the water.

On a recent episode of The Always Sunny Podcast, Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day, and Glenn Howerton looked back on one of the most iconic episodes of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia: “The Gang Solves the Gas Crisis.” As the actors tell it, that particular episode included the major expense of licensing the “Ghostbusters” theme song for the final joke. The song first quietly plays on the radio of a van full of gasoline that the gang is driving then blares over the credits after said van explodes.

“This is the episode where we spent the most amount of money ever on a song,” McElhenney remembered. The actors, who also serve as writers and executive producers on the show, recall the “Ghostbusters” theme costing them around $70,000 to $80,000.

“We hadn’t paid more than $20,000 for a song, including with Michael Jackson songs,” McElhenney said of the expense. “We got The Doors, The Doors didn’t even cost that much,” Howerton noted.

According to McElhenney, around 2008 when the episode premiered, producers were considering reviving the Ghostbusters franchise and wanted to protect the intellectual property, hence the ridiculous price. He said that the movie didn’t even end up happening, but at least Ghostbusters: The Video Game came out the following year.

However, in the greater scheme of copyrighted music, this kind of deal isn’t unheard of. Artists set their own prices, and some simply don’t want movies and TV shows to infringe on their artistic vision. For example, Neil Young is notoriously picky about how productions use his music.

Artists usually delegate these matters to artistic rights management organizations like ASCAP, but the rights holders ultimately have the final say. You’d be surprised how many music-centered projects have been stalled or scrapped altogether because of music copyright issues.

Regardless of the price, McElhenney and Howerton insist they’re happy they included “Ghostbusters” in the episode. Howerton admitted he had his doubts at the time: “Yeah it’s funny, but it’s not $80,000 funny,” he said on the podcast. “Looking back now, I’m certainly glad we did it.”

McElhenney even says that his young son actually took an interest in the episode once he heard the “Ghostbusters” theme. “It’s transcended generations because of that choice,” McElhenney said of the episode. “It’s a hell of a song.”

The Unexpected Health Benefits Of Playing Video Games https://www.suggest.com/video-games-mental-physical-health-benefits/2720830/ Fri, 03 Feb 2023 22:15:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2720830 Woman playing a virtual reality video game

Life has a funny way of getting in the way of our health goals; there never seems to be enough time or motivation. Consequently, achieving our mental and physical goals can begin to seem more and more impossible.

But what if video games could help with this lapse in progress? The computer, video, and mobile gaming industry is as massive as it is varied. Even if you’ve never considered yourself a “gamer,” there’s likely an entire category of games that would cater to your specific interests and preferences.

And while you certainly can use games simply as an entertaining way of passing the time, they also have the potential to help us reach our physical and mental wellness goals. Here’s how.

Stressed, Anxious, Or Overworked? Try Cozy Gaming

On the opposite end of the spectrum from prevailingly popular, intense, violent video games is the concept of “cozy gaming.” GamesIndustry.biz wrote that “the essential nature of cozy gaming is that of helping other people through non-violent means, often by nurture and generosity. Self-expression is core to the games’ progression goals, which tend to be open-ended.”

This genre can trace its roots all the way back to a 1985 game called “Little Computer People” and Natsume’s “Harvest Moon,” which came out a little over a decade before “Farmville” took our Facebook feeds by storm in 2009. More recently, “Animal Crossing” and “Stardew Valley” cemented their place as cozy game staples.

By offering a non-threatening, low-stakes environment to explore and enjoy, cozy games offer a much-needed respite from the stress and anxiety of everyday life. And considering just how much of our physical health is related to our stress levels, these calming games offer dual benefits for both mental and physical wellness.

Cozy gaming is a great way to decompress, de-stress, enjoy a feeling of community, and explore one’s curiosities in a safe, comfortable setting. As gaming writer Melissa Brinks wrote for Forbes, cozy gaming eliminates the need for gamers to meet their characters’ most basic needs (shelter, thirst, hunger, and safety), leaving them with a sense of “connectedness, self-reflection, and mastery.”

TheGamer listed some of the best cozy games as “Unpacking,” “Spiritfarer,” and, of course, the wildly popular and equally cute “Animal Crossing: New Horizons.”

Want To Exercise But Hate The Gym? Try This Instead

Physical fitness goals can be particularly difficult to attain for a number of reasons—but working out doesn’t have to suck, we promise. Remember when everyone and their grandma was playing either “Wii Fit” or “Dance Dance Revolution?” Well, those types of games haven’t gone anywhere, and they’re even better now.

The rise of virtual reality gaming has brought about even more immersive exercise experiences, from the music-driven “Beat Saber” to the sci-fi obstacle courses in “Sprint Vector.” And yes, “Just Dance” is still a thing (and just as fun as ever). For some individuals, these games can be an even better option than regular exercise.

A March 2019 press release published in Lifespan covered the results of a study led by behavioral scientists from The Miriam Hospital’s Center for Behavioral and Preventive Medicine in Rhode Island. The study itself had sedentary individuals participate in either traditional exercise or video games that involved moderate-to-intense aerobic activity.

“People who played the physically active video games continued to do more exercise than the standard group because they got more enjoyment, better management of stress and depressive symptoms, felt more engaged in physical activity, and were more confident about their ability to exercise than people doing standard exercise,” reported Dr. Beth Bock, the study’s lead scientist.

TheGamer cited “Nintendo Switch Sports,” “Zumba Fitness: World Party,” and “Ring Fit Adventure” as some of the best fitness video games of all time. “Ring Fit Adventure” in particular was difficult to find at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic due to the Nintendo Switch game becoming a popular way of working out during lockdown.

Get The Most Out Of Your Gaming

According to FinancesOnline, 64% of U.S. adults play video games on a regular basis. And despite common stereotypes of gamers being that of 20-something, Dorito-eating dude-bros, gaming is becoming increasingly popular with women at many stages of life.

Whether you’re a pro gamer or a total video game novice, finding ways to use games to your advantage is a fun, highly motivational way to reach your overall wellness goals. After all, you’re the main character of your own life. So what’s stopping you from taking the controls and completing your personal objectives?

Here’s What Happened To The Couples From Season 1 Of ‘Marrying Millions’: Find Out Where They Are Now https://www.suggest.com/find-out-where-season-one-couples-marrying-millions-are-now/2720738/ Fri, 03 Feb 2023 21:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2720738 screenshot from Marrying Millions of Bill Hutchinson kissing Brianna Ramirez in a kitchen

You might think that tying the knot with someone extremely wealthy would solve a lot of your problems. Well, as shown in the Lifetime reality show Marrying Millions, which debuted in 2019, it can eliminate some issues while creating others.

Some of the couples depicted on the first season of the show had to deal with concerned relatives, onlookers’ harsh comments, and the tricky task of making their dissimilar backgrounds mesh.

It’s not always easy to navigate that path, as proven by a few of the lovebirds who encountered rough patches along the way. Viewers want to know what has happened to the romantic duos from Marrying Millions. Were their lives together a fairy tale or a fizzle? We looked into where they are now and the state of their marital unions.

Married: Sean Lourdes And Megan Thomas Lourdes

The way these two met could have come straight out of a romcom. Megan Thomas, a stunning model, medical student, and yoga instructor with a knockout resume, sought a position at The Lourdes Foundation, where Lourdes is the director. He wasn’t on time for her interview, so she took a hike.

End of story? Not quite. The beautiful working-class gal and the handsome mega-millionaire, who reportedly has $30 million in his bank account, were seemingly destined to be together.

After Lourdes diligently pursued Thomas, she agreed to a date. They shared a definite spark, according to Lourdes. “We had an immediate, intense, and real connection from the moment we met, and we’ve been inseparable ever since. The rest is history.”

His family wondered about Thomas’ sincerity, according to The Knot, but true love triumphed. She and Lourdes skipped the prenup and got married in Malibu at a venue with spectacular views. They now share wedded bliss and a son, Sean Jr.

Married: Drew Gemma And Rosie Marin

Gemma is a wealthy—as in multi-millionaire—landscaping and construction company owner. Marin lived with her folks at that time and had graduated from college. He introduced her to the high life, showering her with pricey gifts and dinners. Her family frowned on their relationship.

Add a couple more interesting plot twists to this story—Gemma, who is divorced, and Marin met on a sugar daddy website. There was a 17-year age gap between them.

Despite those snags, the couple became engaged on the show and love won out. Soon, they ran off to Costa Rica to get hitched.

There have been a few storm clouds in paradise for Gemma related to his finances. Starcasm reported in 2019 that he had “numerous tax liens over the past decade.” In addition, there were “multiple Uniform Commercial Code filings in which Drew used his contractor equipment as collateral.”

Marin’s Instagram seems to indicate that they are still going strong.

Likely Broken Up: Bill Hutchinson And Brianna Ramirez

Hutchinson and Ramirez had an age difference of almost four decades. Their May-December romance got started when the twice-divorced Hutchinson, head of Dunhill Partners Inc., a multi-billion-dollar commercial real estate company, and owner of Virgin Hotels Dallas, met Ramirez at a Dallas restaurant where she waitressed. The two continued dating after the show.

Hutchinson was arrested in 2021 for allegedly sexually assaulting several underage girls, KDFW Fox4 News reported. He denied the charges.

It appears from their Instagram accounts as if Hutchinson and Ramirez are no longer together. They have not posted any photos with each other for a couple of years.

Broken Up: Gentille Chhun And Brian Blu

Chhun, a successful Las Vegas real estate investor, led a lavish lifestyle. Blu, on the other hand, was a construction worker and actor with blue-collar roots. His personality attracted her, so they started seeing each other. Chhun’s friends had misgivings about their budding relationship and whether Blu’s intentions could be self-serving.

Their romance progressed to the altar—almost. Chhun and Blu decided to split on the day they were set to get married. There was reportedly no evidence that they had a marriage license, so the seriousness of their intent to wed is unclear.

Chhun’s Instagram account shows her having a blast, so she evidently recovered from her fling with Blu.

Broken Up: Katie Hamilton And Kolton Pierce

Katie Hamilton is the ex-wife of former pro baseball player Josh Hamilton. According to the show, she and the much younger Pierce met when he turned up at her home with a gaggle of her teenage daughter’s pals.

Hamilton’s chums and family were not too thrilled about her choice of a beau. There was a 14-year age difference between them. Furthermore, Hamilton was a millionaire as a result of her divorce while Pierce was a wannabe hip-hop performer.

Hamilton and Pierce took issue with the way Marrying Millions portrayed their initial encounter. Hamilton shared with Showbiz CheatSheet that she, her daughter, Julia, and Pierce were all at a Dallas dinner when Hamilton and Pierce chatted and clicked.

They seemed to have a future together. He reportedly thought she was a caring and empathetic listener. Hamilton appeared to shrug off their differences. “If the relationship is right and that’s who God has for you,” she said, “ultimately those differences and the different things that you bring to the table will make the relationship stronger.”

Finally, however, Hamilton decided to end things with Pierce. “She has blocked all communication from me,” he said. Their economic and age differences were the reasons she gave.

Broken Up: Shawn Isaac And Kate London

For a while, this couple made beautiful music together. Isaac, a rapper and entrepreneur, had struck gold in the tech space. London encountered him at a professional event where he was keynote speaker. She asked him to be her mentor and they hit it off.

She expected wedding bells for them in the near future, but he hesitated, possibly prioritizing his career. All was not ideal with Isaac and London. He reportedly gave her a bracelet that looked like it had diamonds, but the sparkly “gems” turned out to be cubic zirconia.

They eventually split, but still make music, mainly separately. London became a Christian artist who also does R&B and pop. Isaac kept on with his own musical ambitions, recording under the name Shawn Don. They collaborated on tunes like “Busdown,” “Cosign,” and “I Need A Savior.”

On The Sh*t Show podcast in 2020, London confirmed that she and Isaac had broken up, although she said they stayed friends. She is believed to be dating a Coast Guard member named Cameron in Florida.

These couples were a lot of fun to watch on Marrying Millions. Their relationships did not always stand the test of time, however. It seems as if the men and women who broke up moved on from each other successfully when age, money, and other factors became impossible to ignore.

Jennifer Aniston’s 5-Second Hair Hack To Get Major Volume Is An Oldie But Goodie https://www.suggest.com/jennifer-aniston-5-second-hair-hack-get-major-volume-is-oldie-but-goodie/2721227/ Fri, 03 Feb 2023 19:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2721227 Jennifer Aniston smiling in a black striped dress against a neutral background

Jennifer Aniston became a hair icon after debuting “The Rachel” bob on Friends nearly 30 years ago. The ’90s hairstyle that solidified Aniston as a hair legend was created by hairstylist Chris McMillan.

Since then, the actress has partnered with McMillan for all her hair looks, whether she’s rocking natural beachy waves hair or a sleek blowout. Recently, the actress revealed one technique by McMillan that gives major volume to any hair in just seconds.

Turns out, the secret to major volume is so simple that many of us have been doing it for years. In a quick Instagram reel, Anniston shared that her full-proof volumizing technique doesn’t require a stylist or expensive products. In fact, all you need is a hairdryer and hairspray.

Simply flip your hair upside down, spray with hairspray, shake your head, blow with a hair dryer while you continue to shake your hair, stand up, and voila, major volume!

It’s a technique that many of us who grew up in the ’80s and ’90s remember well. In fact, some people have been using it ever since! One person commented, “It’s really easy. We’ve been doing it since the ’80s.” Another Instagrammer shared that “everyone that lived through the ’80s” uses this tried and true technique.

After seeing the video, we wanted to know what products McMillan uses on Aniston. Thankfully, the stylist revealed in an interview with Vogue that Aniston’s go-to hairspray is Oribe Superfine Hairspray.

The hairspray offers “flexible, brushable, shiny-soft control” that’s perfect for adding volume to all hair types. Just remember to follow McMillan’s advice that less is more.

Another volumizing spray that’s popular with many celebrities is Serge Normant Volumizing Spray. Brooke Shields, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Meghan Markle are just a few stars who swear by the hair product. And it’s no wonder why! The weightless spray provides texture and volume to all hair types but is best for thinning and fine hair.

As for Aniston, Living Proof products are a brand she has raved about in the past. One fabulous hairspray the company offers is Living Proof Style Lab Control Hairspray.

The hairspray is lightweight, affordable, and delivers hold and shine that lasts throughout the day. It’s the perfect product to get Aniston’s look. Plus, Living Proof is committed to sustainability and certified cruelty-free by PETA, so you can also feel good about using their products.

Regardless of whether or not you’re going for “The Rachel” look, Aniston’s simple 5-second hack along with a quality hairspray is sure to give you the volume you’re looking for each and every day!
