Gwyneth Paltrow has one of the most enviable closets in Hollywood, and she recently highlighted some of the more memorable pieces in a video for her lifestyle brand, Goop. From red carpet accessories to the dress she wore when Brad Pitt proposed, Paltrow shared some of her most special fashion items.

In the video, Paltrow showed off the storage facility where she keeps all of her clothes and accessories. “I pull things from this closet every once in a while,” she explained. “It’s really, like, if I need something special, or things that I just love that I’m saving for myself if things come back in style or for Apple [her 18-year-old daughter].”

Some of the most notable looks came from the ’90s, when Paltrow was one of the biggest trendsetters in Hollywood. One dress she pulled out was a white Calvin Klein shirt dress.

“[It’s] very ’90s,” Paltrow said of the dress, which she wore to the 1996 premiere of The Pallbearer. “It’s slouchy, it’s relaxed. It’s giving that very ’90s ‘I don’t give a f*ck.’”

Paltrow also showed off some red carpet accessories, including the light pink Manolo Blahnik heels she wore to the 1999 Oscars ceremony. That year, Paltrow won the Oscar for Best Actress for her performance in Shakespeare in Love

Another ’90s item shown was a Christian Dior brown suede slip dress that she wore “when [she] had brown hair. A real look at the time,” Paltrow laughed. The actress also showed off a red Gucci suit from the 1996 MTV Movie Awards that she said she’s worn “many, many times.”

One of the items viewers loved seeing was the dress Paltrow said she was wearing when Pitt proposed to her. The pair was together from 1994 to 1997 and got engaged when she was 24 years old.

“We were in Italy,” Paltrow remembered as she looked at the floral, long-sleeve dress. “We climbed up to, like, a roof-deck thing and he surprised me!” She and Pitt eventually split, with Paltrow saying she was not ready to be married.

Fans of Paltrow’s ’90s fashion sense loved getting a closer look at some of the most memorable pieces from her extensive wardrobe. Who knows? Maybe we’ll see Apple rocking these pieces in the future!

Get To Know Trixie Mattel’s Boyfriend, David Silver https://www.suggest.com/trixie-mattel-boyfriend-david-silver/2722818/ Wed, 08 Feb 2023 15:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2722818 David Silver (L) and Trixie Mattel posing in dark room

The name Brian Michael Firkus might not sound familiar. However, you may recognize him by his stage name, Trixie Mattel.

Firkus, a performer who is a drag queen, singer, and TV personality, has created a character in Mattel that is memorable for her voluminous blond tresses, dramatic black-and-pastel eye makeup, flamboyant outfits, and delightfully campy aura.

Mattel’s empire has continued to flourish and grow, extending to a YouTube channel and a cosmetics collection. She has sometimes collaborated with another drag queen, Katya Zamolodchikova. Their camaraderie led to the publication of a New York Times best-selling book, Trixie and Katya’s Guide to Modern Womanhood (2020).

David Silver has been at Mattel’s side throughout her ascent to stardom as a boyfriend, staunch ally, collaborator, and rock to lean upon. Here’s what we know about Trixie Mattel’s real-life love.

Who Is David Silver?

David Silver is a film and TV producer who was a production assistant for Batman Begins (2005) starring Christian Bale and Katie Holmes and The Break-Up (2006) with Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston.

Silver was a producer for Kittie: Spit In Your Eye (2000) with Fallon Bowman and executive producer for Please Baby Please (2022), whose cast included Demi Moore and Andrea Riseborough.

Mattel And Silver Have Been Dating Since 2016

Sometimes, the pair gives fans a peek into their lives with snaps of their trips and activities on their Instagram accounts. Silver might even drop in on one of Mattel’s YouTube videos from time to time for a cameo appearance.

In 2020, Mattel confided to 48 Hills how she feels about Silver. “I love my boyfriend. He’s really my world and he comes on tour and stays on the bus with me.”

She also mentioned that she’s “pretty private” about him. “I don’t post a lot of pictures, but I definitely write songs about him.”

They’ve Collaborated On Several Creative Projects Together

Silver was the executive producer for Mattel’s 2019 Netflix documentary, Trixie Mattel: Moving Parts, which revealed some aspects of their relationship.

As The WOW Report stated, Mattel summed up the essence of the film succinctly: “It’s a lot of what happens in the other 23 hours in a day of being a drag queen.”

Mattel admits that she was a bit wary of working so closely with the man in her life. She told The WOW Report, “Originally, I don’t like to work with anybody that I have a relationship with, but my manager at the time and David both came to me separately and said, ‘You should do a film about this section of your life because so many things are happening.’”

In the end, working with Silver turned out to be a great move. Mattel seemed very pleased with the result, even though being observed during awkward or personal moments while filming it wasn’t always easy for her.

“This is you in a cab with me, in a shower with me, backstage with me. Everywhere. I never once asked them to leave the room or stop filming. You got the best and worst of it. But there really were some moments where I’m watching it back, like, this is magical.”

In 2022, Mattel told The Cinemaholic that she lovingly wanted Moving Parts to be a major artistic triumph for Silver, rather than just a vehicle to make herself and her brand even more famous. Silver was actually one of the first people who encouraged Mattel to make a documentary about herself.

“Our relationship has been five years…of watching all my dreams come true,” Brian [Mattel] said, “…and this project is one of David’s dreams that I really, really want to see come true.”

Silver was an executive producer and starred as himself in Trixie Motel (2022), a Discovery+ reality TV show that depicted his and Mattel’s latest splashy adventure: renovating the run-down Ruby Montana’s Coral Sands Inn in tony Palm Springs, California, by imbuing it with outrageous, Trixie Mattel-style decor.

This project wasn’t any old fixer-upper, however. Silver and Mattel reportedly sunk a cool $2 million into the endeavor, according to Entertainment Weekly

Thanks to Mattel, there was tons of over-the-top extravagance, plenty of wacky whimsy, and help from a bunch of famous folks like Lisa Vanderpump and Iggy Azalea. Voila—the perfect site for a glam getaway!

Mix it all together and you have  a reality TV feast that was co-produced by Jonathan and Drew Scott of Property Brothers renown.

Mattel explained to Entertainment Weekly how the idea for the project suddenly popped into her and Silver’s minds. “My partner and I were watching A Very Brady Renovation during COVID, and we had a joke about a ‘Trixie Motel’ because of the play on the words. Then we were like, what if we actually did?”

She added, “I’m a drag queen. This motel is the ultimate stunt that no other drag queen or other celebrity would even attempt because it’s psycho. It’s psychotic to do this,” Mattel joked.

Mattel clearly took great pride in the whole effort from start to finish. It was probably even more special to her because she and Silver did it together. “We thought of something brilliant, we pursued it, and this is going to be the most lit thing that’s ever existed.”

Trixie Mattel and David Silver are successfully sharing their lives and careers. With Silver’s support and creative input, Mattel has risen to new heights of fame, fortune, and fantasy. We certainly want to see what this talented celebrity couple dreams up next!

Here’s Why We Think Ken Jennings’ Net Worth Is Far Higher Than $4 Million https://www.suggest.com/ken-jennings-net-worth/2723004/ Wed, 08 Feb 2023 13:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2723004 screenshot of Ken Jennings hosting Jeopardy! in a gray suit

Ken Jennings is arguably the most famous game show contestant in the world. He holds the record for most games won on Jeopardy!, and he’s won a wild amount of money on four other game shows. Additionally, Jennings lives a fairly frugal lifestyle, and he’s maintained a steady income even after acquiring his massive winnings. Yet, despite Jennings’ lucrative circumstances, some estimate his net worth to be only $4 million. Here’s why that just doesn’t sit right with us.

Jennings Won Over $4.5 Million On ‘Jeopardy!’

To fully understand Jennings’ net worth, we need to start with the show that made him famous. In 2004, Jennings made his first appearance on Jeopardy!. The former software engineer dominated for 74 consecutive games, taking home $2.52 million during that time—he currently holds the record for most money won in regular season play. However, his Jeopardy! career wouldn’t end there.

Jennings returned to the show later that year for the 2004 Ultimate Tournament of Champions. He ultimately lost to contestant Brad Rutter, taking home $500,000 for second place. Jennings and Rutter went on to compete against each other once again in 2011, this time battling against IBM’s Watson supercomputer. Jennings took victory over Rutter but wasn’t able to defeat Watson. He received $300,000 for second place and pledged to donate half of his winnings to charity.

Just four years later, Jennings returned to the Jeopardy! stage for the show’s Battle of the Decades tournament. Jennings once again finished second to Rutter, taking home $100,000. There’s just no keeping Jennings away from America’s favorite game show, though. In 2019, Jennings finished second in the Jeopardy! All-Star Games, winning another $100,000. Finally, in 2020, Jennings won the Greatest of All Time Jeopardy! tournament, earning a whopping $1 million.

Throughout his entire competitive Jeopardy! career, Jennings won a total of $4,522,700. His earnings are second only to Brad Rutter, who won $4,938,436 during his time on Jeopardy!.

He Has Earned Over $700,000 On Four Other Game Shows

Jennings didn’t isolate his game show aspirations to just Jeopardy!, though. In 2006, Jennings appeared on NBC’s 1 vs. 100, although he only earned about $700. In 2007, he competed on Grand Slam, taking home the grand prize of $100,000. The following year, he won $500,000 on Are You Smarter Than Fifth Grader?. Finally, Jennings appeared on Who Wants to be a Millionaire in 2014, winning another $100,000.

In total, Jennings won $700,000 from other game shows. Taking into consideration his Jeopardy! winnings, Jennings amassed more than $5.2 million in game show earnings during his competitive career, making him the highest-earning American game show contestant in history.

His Salary As ‘Jeopardy!’ Co-Host Is Harder To Determine

Of course, these days Jennings commands the Jeopardy! stage not as a champion but as its host. In July of 2022, Jennings was officially named as one of Alex Trebek’s successors, taking over the day-to-day hosting duties of standard broadcasts and tournaments.

As you might expect, salaries are a bit more confidential than widely-publicized game show earnings. It isn’t certain how much Jennings earns for each Jeopardy! episode. However, The Guardian reported in 2019 that Trebek made $10 million a year for hosting the show. The Hollywood Reporter also revealed that Dr. Oz earned $268,000 for his two-week guest hosting gig, all of which he reportedly donated to charity.

We’re certain Jennings doesn’t earn as much as Trebek, but we trust that he’s paid well for the position. Some sources report Jennings makes as much as $75,000 per episode. As there are about 230 Jeopardy! episodes every year and Jennings has been splitting hosting duties with Mayim Bialik, that rate would turn into about $8 million a year. However, that figure is impossible to verify, and it’s likely quite a bit less than that.

Anyone claiming to know exactly what Jennings is being paid is almost certainly lying as the matter is highly confidential. What is for certain though is that Jeopardy! is a ratings powerhouse, and Jennings will likely see his salary grow the longer he holds the position.

He’s A Published Author

If you were expecting Jennings to reserve his brilliant mind for game shows, you’d be mistaken! The trivia master has published multiple books expanding on his deep well of random knowledge. According to Jennings’ website, he actually kept his day job as a programmer all the way through his Jeopardy! streak. However, when he got his first book deal, he then decided that a change in career was in order.

In 2006, Jennings published his first book titled Brainiac: Adventures in the Curious, Competitive, Compulsive World of Trivia Buffs. The book journeys through both the evolution of trivia and Jennings’ own experiences as a competitor.

In 2008, Ken Jennings’s Trivia Almanac: 8,888 Questions in 365 Days—the single largest collection of trivia questions ever compiled. He dipped his toes into geography with his 2011 book Maphead and investigated the origins of old wives’ tales in his 2012 book Because I Said So!.

He published a series of informative kids books in 2014 called The Junior Genius Guides and turned his inquisitive eye on comedy in his most recent book, Planet Funny. Prior to landing his hosting gig on Jeopardy! Jennings considered himself a full-time freelance writer, and he has yet another book scheduled to hit shelves in June titled 100 Places to See After You Die: A Travel Guide to the Afterlife.

He’s Co-Hosted The ‘Omnibus’ Podcast Since September 2017

If idle hands are the devil’s playthings, then count Ken Jennings safe from corruption. In addition to hosting Jeopardy! pretty much full-time, the trivia  wiz also co-hosts a podcast titled Omnibus with his friend and fellow Seattleite John Roderick. For those unfamiliar with the term, omnibus refers to a volume containing several other novels or published works.

So, similar to the massive tomes it takes its name from, the Omnibus podcast aims to compile “an encyclopedic reference work of strange-but-true stories” to serve as a “time capsule for future generations,” per the project’s website.

The pair started the project in 2017, and they currently release two episodes a week. They also offer Patreon tiers ranging anywhere from $5 to $100 per month. Per their Patreon profile, the operation brings in $11,872 a month. Jennings could be earning as much as $5,936 from the podcast every month. Although, a good portion of that likely gets eaten up by production costs.

He Lives A Modest Lifestyle

Some might expect someone with Jennings’ wealth to live a high-roller lifestyle, but that assumption couldn’t be farther from the truth. The Seattle native has been a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His Mormon faith even led him to dedicate two years of his young adulthood working as a missionary in Madrid, Spain.

He regularly donates 10% of his income to the church, a practice known as “tithing,” and credits his faith with helping him stay grounded. According to Jennings, he didn’t even purchase a new car with his winnings as so many of us would. He told the Washington Post that he drove the same Toyota Corolla for years after Jeopardy! because it got him where it needed to go.

“I had this very kind of strong pioneer-era Western ethos of like, wealth is not just immoral, but it is a little bit unseemly,” Jennings told the publication. He wrote on his website that he doesn’t drink alcohol, although he garnered an extensive knowledge of spirits while studying for Jeopardy!.

He still lives in Seattle, sharing a home with his wife of 22 years, Mindy. They have two children, a son born in 2002 and a daughter born in 2006. Jennings will likely need to shell out a pretty penny for college educations, although we don’t see that making too big of a dent in his wealth.

We Think His Net Worth Is Likely Much Higher Than $4 Million

Ok, let’s recap. Jennings had more than $5 million in game show winnings—about $4 million once you shave off taxes. He has published nine books in total, which certainly made him more than a couple of bucks. He recently made another book deal, and he earns an easy few thousand a month from his podcast. All of that is before noting his Jeopardy! hosting gig, which likely earns him a few million dollars a year.

He once said that his most extravagant purchases post-Jeopardy! were his home in Seattle and a big-screen TV. He also notes on his website that most of the money went right into stocks, bonds, and real-estate. “I don’t want to be one of these lottery winners you see bankrupt on TV a few years later,” he wrote. If he invested wisely, and chances are that he did, he could have multiplied his wealth a few times over by now.

Yet, despite Jennings’ many, many money-making pursuits, sites like Celebrity Net Worth estimate Jennings’ net worth to be only $4 million. Now, we are no mathematicians, but that figure seems fishy at best. It looks like these sources are only really accounting for his game show winnings rather than all of his activities after that.
Unfortunately, we have no way of truly confirming our suspicions. Given Jennings’ modest lifestyle, he is one of the last public figures you’ll see flaunting his wealth. Although, those Jeopardy! paychecks are just going to keep stacking up. As it stands today, though, Jennings’ true net worth is between him, his family, and the IRS.

This $18M ‘Invisible Home’ Owned By ‘American Psycho’ Producers Gives Serious Patrick Bateman Vibes https://www.suggest.com/invisible-house-american-psycho-producers/2722133/ Tue, 07 Feb 2023 23:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2722133 photo of the Invisible House, a rectangular home covered in rectangular reflective window panels in the desert with a cutout of Christian Bale in American Psycho

The stark, unsettling scenes of cult film classics like American Psycho and The Virgin Suicides were made in part by famed producers Chris and Roberta Hanley. And in partnership with architect Tomas Orsinski, the couple created a stunning desert home that mirrors their projects’ stoic, offbeat nature.

Nestled in the desert of Joshua Tree, California, the 5,500-square-foot home is a striking rectangular structure covered entirely in mirrored windows. Its glass walls reflect the desert scenery back at the viewer, earning it the nickname “The Invisible House.” And now, Aaron Kirkman and Matt Adamo of AKG have listed the house for a cool $18 million.

Will we be making an offer? Probably not. Will we be perusing the listing as though we ever would? Yes. And does the house of the American Psycho producers give off serious Patrick Bateman vibes? Also yes.

A Space Odyssey In The Desert

The Hanleys and Orsinski did have a film in mind when they created their multi-million dollar invisible home. But it wasn’t American Psycho. According to TopTenRealEstateDeals, the sci-fi classic 2001: A Space Odyssey inspired this futuristic house. And indeed, stepping up to this incredible structure must feel similar to approaching a spacecraft.

The home’s listing states that the house “directly connects inhabitant with the environment through a mirrored glass exterior that seamlessly bridges the gap between indoor and outdoor space, masking itself as an indistinguishable component of the dramatic, rocky, desert landscape” Joshua Tree is famous for.

Just as the mirrored exterior allows nature to be the star of the show from the outside, the breathtaking glass walls extend this concept from the inside, bringing the desert scenery directly into the home itself.

Exploring The Interior

Thanks to its rectangular shape, the Invisible House’s 3-bedroom, 4-bathroom floor plan is fairly simple to follow. While there is plenty of privacy to enjoy in this roomy abode, each living space naturally flows into the next. Similarly, sliding glass doors throughout the home allow a seamless transition from indoors to nature.

The Invisible House also boasts a world-class chef’s kitchen with dual ovens, separate refrigerator and freezer storage, white marble surfaces, concrete flooring, and sleek, minimalist lines. Rocky desert formations stretch up just outside the kitchen windows, making you feel like you’re cooking dinner in the desert (minus the bugs and wind).

The roomy bedrooms feature gorgeous en suites with 5-star-resort-inspired bath features. (Because if you’re building an $18 million home, it better be worthy of a 5-star resort.) The primary suite includes a bath with a soaking tub, floating vanities, a rain shower, and, of course, stunning desert views around every corner.

Keep Things Cool With An Indoor Pool

The desert is infamous for its dramatic temperature swings—frigidly cold at night and swelteringly hot during the day. But that’s nothing future Invisible Homeowners will have to worry about, thanks to a luxurious, 100-foot swimming pool. The pool area offers ambient lighting that both “illuminates the landscape and communicates with the constellations above,” the home’s listing reads.

(Brian Ashby, Chris Hanley and Masek Imagining/TopTenRealEstateDeals.com)

The pool is capped by a 224-square-foot projection wall perfect for screening films (this was the home of two film producers, after all). If anyone has a better idea for a more lavish pool and movie party, we’re all ears.

Invisible Home patio with door open to pool
(Brian Ashby, Chris Hanley and Masek Imagining/TopTenRealEstateDeals.com)

Finally, if you somehow get the urge to leave this modern work of art, there’s plenty to do around Joshua Tree, too. The Invisible House’s 67.5-acre plot is bordered by Section 5 Federal National Park land and a Section 6 BLM, gated nature and tortoise reserve. You can truly immerse yourself in nature in every sense of the word.

A Home With Some Star Power

If this house looks vaguely familiar, you’re not going crazy. The gorgeous home has made cameos in numerous film projects and was even featured on Netflix’s The World’s Most Amazing Vacation Rentals when it was available on Airbnb with a $2,500 per-night price tag.

(Brian Ashby, Chris Hanley and Masek Imagining/TopTenRealEstateDeals.com)

And it isn’t just the house itself that boasts serious star power—the whole desert has a long history of housing stars, rockers, and other pop culture icons. The Joshua Tree area is a well-known pilgrimage for artists of little and global fame, from working artists seeking affordable studios outside of Los Angeles to rock legends like Jim Morrison, Keith Richards, and Bono.

(Brian Ashby, Chris Hanley and Masek Imagining/TopTenRealEstateDeals.com)

There’s no doubt that the Invisible House exudes a stark sense of extravagant wealth and cool minimalism all within the backdrop of the notoriously harsh, unforgiving desert. We can’t help but compare this home’s attributes with that of American Psycho‘s leading man and murderer, Patrick Bateman. But hey, it’s just a movie, right? Maybe just double-check that there are no plastic suits hanging up in the closet before you make your final offer.

Howard Stern’s Daughter, Emily, Is Something Of A Renaissance Woman: Find Out About Her Artistic Pursuits https://www.suggest.com/emily-beth-stern-howard-stern-daughter/2722741/ Tue, 07 Feb 2023 21:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2722741 Screenshot of Emily Stern smiling in blue patterned top

Howard Stern dubbed himself “King of All Media,” and that’s not just empty swagger. He has achieved tremendous success on radio with The Howard Stern Show, in publishing, with films, and on television.

One of Stern’s daughters, Emily Beth Stern, is a talented and accomplished artist who has chosen a uniquely different path from her famous father’s. Emily’s admirers are eager to learn more about her life and career. Here is the scoop on this gifted woman.

Emily Is Howard Stern’s Eldest Daughter

Howard Stern has three daughters—Emily, Deborah, and Ashley—from his first marriage to Alison Berns. The couple married in 1978, separated in 1999, and divorced in 2001.

Emily is the eldest of the three. She was born on May 7, 1983, in New York.

She Studied Theatre At New York University

Emily graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, but her dreams of a career as an actress hit an unexpected snag.

She landed the role of Madonna in an off-off-Broadway play, Kabbalah, at the Triad Theater on W. 73rd Street in 2005. Emily was reportedly so thrilled about the opportunity that she dyed her dark hair blond to resemble the Material Girl more closely. She also went nude, the New York Post reported.

The production got negative reviews and attracted few theater-goers. To lure larger audiences, director Tuvia Tenenbom allegedly exploited Emily’s connection to Howard Stern and a non-consensually filmed video of a scantily clad Emily during a rehearsal.

Emily left the show after six weeks. She was backed up by Howard’s lawyers, the Post reported. “I told the director, ‘Don’t advertise who I am.’ He manipulated my love for the show for his gain,” Emily said.

Tenenbom had a very different take on the situation. He told the New York Daily News that Emily is a “Jewish-American princess” and Howard is “a psycho.”

He allegedly said he had not exposed Emily’s relationship to Howard and that it was actually made public on two websites for Howard Stern’s fans. Tenenbom also claimed that Howard deterred Emily from appearing in the play.

Tenebom argued that Emily said, “My father basically told me that if I take the role [which requires her to be on stage nude for the last 10 minutes], that his enemies would buy blocks of tickets, throw garbage at my vagina, take nude pictures of me and put them all over the Internet.”

She’s A Singer

Emily released an album called Birth Day in 2012. Her website explained that she drew upon the sounds of nature, such as rain storms and bird songs: “After exploration with a band, Emily came to realize the natural world was the only thing wild enough to come close to where these songs were born in her.”

She’s Studying To Become A Rabbi

Emily’s Instagram bio describes her as a rabbinical student. In an interview with The Jewish Journal in 2008, she seemed to be at peace with herself and what she was doing at that time.

Emily said that she combined Jewish religious practices with Transcendental Meditation, which “her family had practiced since she was young.”

She also studied the use of Balinese masks in theatrical contexts, wrote songs that she recorded and performed, appeared in a musical, Earth Sucks, and attended a Jewish renewal synagogue.

Emily had long felt connected to her Jewish heritage, according to an archived post from Jew in the City, but “the ritual element was always missing.” She evidently found what she was seeking in Orthodox Judaism.

She experienced a stunning moment of clarity when she happened upon a Havdalah ceremony at a yoga studio. A Jewish Renewal Havdalah is a religious ceremony at the conclusion of the Shabbat, or day of rest, on Saturday that also heralds a new week.

That ceremony resonated deeply with Emily and catalyzed a new, even stronger sense of connection with her Jewish faith.

Emily’s recommitment to her religion was not greeted with “too much pushback,” as Jew in the City phrased it, from her relatives and others close to her. They apparently respected her for embarking upon a spiritual journey that was so meaningful to her.

An incident that gave Emily pause occurred in Israel, when her mother watched her praying and voiced concern about “losing her daughter” (per Jew in the City).

Emily kept uniting her artistry with her spiritual and religious faith. She joined an art fellowship at the Drisha Institute for Jewish Education in New York. While she was there, she authored a play.

Emily also was inspired to study the Torah (the first five books of the Hebrew Bible) at Nishmat, The Jeanie Schottenstein Center for Advanced Torah Study for Women in Jerusalem.

She’s Passionate About Art

Her passion for creating art is intertwined with her love of the Torah. Its text inspired themes and characters she writes about. Emily’s art and her devotion to her faith are inseparable. One is typically present with the other. Those dual passions have come to define who she is.

It seems as though this period of religious discovery—and self-discovery—spurred Emily’s artistic growth. She wrote Love Psalms, which she described as “a series of short, devotional love poems.”

Emily took a series of photographs titled Wells of Miriam. Those images depict what was once an arid, withered landscape in Portugal that was miraculously reinvigorated by the introduction of water through water-retentive landscaping.

That technique is impressively simple. As Jew in the City explained, it involves digging deep trenches that can fill with rainwater that can bring the soil back to life. Jew in the City concluded, “The final (and most fascinating) step is when the ditch is full to capacity…and becomes a mikvah.”

That word, as noted on Emily’s website, can have several interpretations. In Hebrew, it can mean gathering, hope, and immersive bath.

Emily’s photos celebrated the concept of revitalizing the land as seen through the lens —both actual and metaphorical—of her religious faith. Her children’s book, The World’s a Song: So Come and Play, uses “poetry, whimsical illustrations, and 5 notated songs” to emphasize “support, discovery, and universal love.”

Emily Stern has emerged from her father Howard Stern’s shadow and created an artistic identity that is triumphantly her own. She has forged a career by exploring her vision of the world as seen from a religious and spiritual perspective. We hope Emily continues to produce artistic works that allow us to share her spiritual quest.

Viola Davis Is The Latest Member Of The EGOT Club, But The Actor Who Coined The Term Has Never Won Any Of The Four Prestigious Awards https://www.suggest.com/viola-davis-latest-member-egot-club-actor-coined-term-never-won-any-four-prestigious-awards/2723134/ Tue, 07 Feb 2023 13:48:08 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2723134 Viola Davis smiles in brown shimmery gown

It’s official: Viola Davis has officially achieved the most prestigious status in the entertainment world. Now that the celebrated actress has won a Grammy for the audiobook version of her memoir Finding Me, Davis has now achieved EGOT status.

The term “EGOT” stands for “Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony” and is meant to honor the talented few who’ve won at least one of each of the four major American entertainment awards in a competitive category. The star to most recently make the list before Davis was Jennifer Hudson.

EGOT status is often seen as the ultimate achievement for any American entertainer. However, the man who coined the term EGOT unfortunately never notched a single nomination for any of the major awards.

In 1984, Miami Vice actor Philip Michael Thomas first publicly used the term during an interview with ET.

“[In January], I put a plan in motion, which I call ‘EGOT,’” he told the outlet while on the set of the popular TV show. “And EGOT is ‘E’ for Emmy, ‘G’ for GRAMMY, ‘O’ for Oscar and ‘T’ for Tony. And I’m putting this on a five-year plan. I hope to win all of those in the next five years.”

It seemed like Thomas did his best to manifest the honor, even fashioning the acronym onto a gold pendant for him to wear while he chased his goal. In 1985, he followed up with ET, telling the publication that he had the Emmy in his sights as Miami Vice celebrated multiple nominations for its pilot episode.

He added that had a plan to secure the next three awards. He first anticipated a Grammy with his debut studio album Living the Book of My Life, but he wouldn’t stop there.

“The Oscar will come when I buy the rights to No Place To Be Somebody and do it as a film,” Thomas explained. “And the Tony will come when I produce the musical I wrote, which is called The Legend of Stagolee.”

Unfortunately, those five years passed for Thomas without receiving a single EGOT-eligible win or even nomination. However, Thomas indisputably left his mark on the entertainment world by coining the oft-used term. In fact, in a roundabout way, every EGOT winner owes the prestigious designation to Thomas himself.

Thomas’ story was eventually satirized on the Emmy-award winning show 30 Rock. During the series’ fourth season, Tracy Morgan’s semi-autobiographical character Tracy Jordan insisted he was taking on Thomas’ quest.

The character even purchased Thomas’ supposed “EGOT” necklace, setting the plan into motion. While the storyline was played for laughs on the show, it also helped solidify the term “EGOT” in the public’s consciousness.

It doesn’t look like Thomas gets much work these days with his last acting credit being in 2009. However, never say never! According to his IMDB page, he actually has multiple projects in pre-production, meaning Phillip could be planning a full-on come-back. As we saw with so many actors this year, all it takes is one good role to bring an entertainer’s career back to life!

Shania Twain Brought New Meaning To The Word ‘Cowgirl’ With Grammys Red Carpet Look https://www.suggest.com/shania-twain-brought-new-meaning-word-cowgirl-grammys-red-carpet-look/2722970/ Mon, 06 Feb 2023 21:15:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2722970 Shania Twain smiling in a black leather top with long bright red hair

We didn’t think anyone could outdo Pharrell’s big hat moment at the 56th Grammy Awards in 2014, but Shania Twain has proved us wrong! At the 65th Grammy Awards, Twain came out to play in an outfit that brought new meaning to the word “cowgirl.”

On February 5, 2023, Twain wowed fans with a one-of-a-kind white and black ensemble. All eyes were on the musician as she took the red carpet by storm in a head-to-toe glittery black and white polka dotted suit. The outfit included a longline blazer and enormous bell bottom pants that grazed the ground.

If a suit with large sequined polka dots wasn’t enough of a statement piece, the award-winning singer opted to top off her fun outfit with a matching sky high hat! Complementing the playful look, Twain donned a super long red wig with matching cherry red lipstick. The only place where the singer kept it simple was with her jewelry, if you can call diamond accessories by Messika basic.

However, the whimsical suit designed by young British-American designer Harris Reed stole the show. It’s no surprise since the 26-year-old designer is already taking the fashion industry by storm. The revolutionary creator has not only worked with Twain but also with one of her biggest fans, Harry Styles.

The polka dot suit was released in the fall as part of a collection. According to Reed, the suit centers “around community, collaboration and all the incredible individuals that it takes to create safe spaces for everyone to feel their most authentic selves.”

During a red carpet interview, Twain shared that she chose the incredible piece because she “just fell in love with the fun” of the suit. Turns out, the singer is all about having fun in her 50s and that includes being on the red carpet. When asked if the red carpet ever gets old, she said no, “It’s an opportunity to wear fun clothes! I love it … I just love the whole spirit of all of it.”

Twain attended the Grammys to present the award for Best Country Album and “to represent country music” as she said on the red carpet. Plus, the singer recently released her new album, Queen of Me. In the spirit of having fun, the artist referred to this as her “cheer myself up album.”

From her new album to her playful polka dot suit, Twain is certainly spreading cheer!

Head Of Elvis Presley Enterprises Weighs In On Priscilla Presley’s Lawsuit https://www.suggest.com/head-elvis-presley-enterprises-weighs-in-priscilla-presley-lawsuit/2722475/ Mon, 06 Feb 2023 21:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2722475 photo of Priscilla Presley speaking into a microphone dressed in black at Lisa Marie's public memorial

When Lisa Marie Presley passed away earlier this month, her will left everything—including partial control of Elvis Presley’s estate—to her daughters. Now, her mother, Priscilla, is contesting the will and fighting an amendment to the document she claims is invalid.

Joel Weinshanker, managing partner at Elvis Presley Enterprises, recently weighed in on the situation, telling Sirius XM’s Elvis Radio that Lisa Marie was “quite certain” she wanted her children to carry on Elvis’ legacy.

“We discussed this many many times [before] she passed, and that was always Riley and Ben,” Weinshanker said, referring to Riley Keough and Benjamin Keough, her children with ex David Keough. “There was never a question in her mind that they would be the stewards, that they would look at it the exact same way that she did. And obviously when Ben passed, it really sat with Riley.”

Benjamin died by suicide in 2020, leaving Riley and twins Harper and Finley Lockwood, 14, as the co-trustees of Lisa Marie’s Trust, which includes the famous Graceland property and 15% ownership of Elvis’ estate.

Why Priscilla Is Contesting Her Daughter’s Will

While Weinshanker is insistent that Lisa Marie wanted her children to take charge of her trust, Priscilla is not so sure. Previously, the will stated that Priscilla and Barry Siegel, her former business manager, would be co-trustees.

This 2010 amendment to her will was replaced in 2016 with a new amendment that made her children co-trustees of Lisa Marie’s Trust instead. Priscilla is contesting this amendment, claiming she had no prior knowledge of the change. This would make the 2016 amendment invalid, as Priscilla did not receive the amendment while Lisa Marie was alive “as required by the express terms of the Trust.”

Priscilla has also claimed that there are “many issues surrounding the authenticity and validity” of the amendment, including the fact that her name was misspelled on the document, the amendment was not witnessed or notarized, and Lisa Marie’s signature is “inconsistent” with her usual signature.

It’s unknown whether or not Priscilla’s petition will change the outcome of Lisa Marie’s trust and Elvis’ estate but, despite her mother’s claims, it seems clear that Lisa Marie wanted her children to carry on her father’s legacy.

Jill Biden Stole The Show In A Shimmering Gown On The Grammys Stage While Presenting Historic Award https://www.suggest.com/jill-biden-stole-show-shimmering-gown-grammys-stage-while-presenting-historic-award/2722901/ Mon, 06 Feb 2023 20:52:37 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2722901 Jill Biden smiles in closeup image against orange backdrop

For centuries, the first ladies of the United States have represented the pinnacle of style and poise. Current First Lady Jill Biden proved at the 2023 Grammy Awards on Sunday that her legacy will be no different as she gave some of the night’s biggest stars a run for their money.

On Sunday, Dr. Jill Biden made a surprise appearance at the 65th Grammy Awards, cementing her as one of the few first ladies of the United States to ever present at a major awards show. The night was historic for multiple reasons as Biden became the first person to present the Grammys’ brand new competitive category, Best Song for Social Change.

As Dr. Biden announced, she was there to celebrate “a song that responds to the social issues of our time and has the potential for positive global impact.” That song was “Baraye,” a powerful ballad penned by Iranian singer-songwriter Shervin Hajpour in response to the alleged murder of Mahsa Amini.

Back in September, 22-year-old Amini was detained by Iran’s morality police for supposedly wearing her hijab improperly. Eyewitnesses alleged Amini was severely beaten by the police, contributing to growing unrest in Iran over compulsory hijab laws. Her death sparked massive global protests over the violence against Iranian women.

Inspired by Amini, Hajpour recorded “Baraye” (roughly translating to “because of”) which became the unofficial anthem of the protests. The singer was subsequently arrested for allegedly inciting violence acts against the Iranian government.

“Shervin was arrested but this song continues to resonate around the world with its powerful theme—women, life, freedom,” Dr. Biden said on Sunday, calling the song a “powerful and poetic call for freedom and women’s rights.”

While Dr. Biden was there for an important reason, she certainly did not forget the dress code. The first lady looked like a trophy herself in a dazzling off-the-shoulder Oscar de la Renta gown.

The long-sleeved dress was structured with gorgeous floral details, and the silver pattern put off a disco-ball-like shine, making it one of the more eye-grabbing looks of the night.

Dr. Biden wasn’t the only one to grace the Grammys stage in a silver ensemble. Harry Styles accepted his award for Album of the Year in a dazzling silver top before changing into a bold jumpsuit for his performance.

Lizzo accepted her award in a metallic silver ruched mini dress, and Beyonce became the most-awarded artist in Grammys history while wearing a shining silver and camel strapless gown.

So, while Dr. Biden looked timeless and elegant in her gown, she was also ridiculously on-trend. Honestly, Biden’s dress was one of the best looks of the night, and it certainly just served to highlight her important reason for attending. Not to mention, it just goes to show that glamour has absolutely no age!

Martha Stewart Shared A Filter-Free Selfie And We Need To Know Her Skincare Regimen ASAP https://www.suggest.com/martha-stewart-shared-filter-free-selfie-skincare-regimen-asap/2722206/ Sun, 05 Feb 2023 21:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2722206 Martha Stewart smiles in all-white outfit

Martha Stewart can teach us all more than how to make perfect scrambled eggs. During a recent visit to the hair salon, the businesswoman shared a filter-free selfie, and WOW! We can’t get over how amazing her skin looks!

At 81 years old, how does Stewart do it? The interior designer credits “a mostly dry January and pilates every other day” for her incredible skin. But we suspect that her skincare routine also plays a role in her flawless complexion.

Thankfully, Stewart mentions the products she can’t live without on her website. The lifestyle icon stresses that it’s not just what products you use but also when and how you use them.

An early riser, Stewart begins her daily routine at 5 a.m. with a face mask that sits for 30 minutes. Her top choice is Yon-Ka Gommage 305, a gentle facial peel that clarifies the skin and reduces redness. Since it’s perfect for any skin type, this magical mask renews the skin and makes it look brighter than ever.

When she’s looking for something a bit more comprehensive, she reaches for the Mario Badescu Super Collagen Mask. This collagen and clay-based mask tightens, purifies, and nourishes skin of all types while reducing the appearance of lines and making skin look more vibrant.

After the face mask sits for 30 minutes, Stewart jumps into the shower and then chooses products based on how her skin feels that day. A frequent choice is Mario Badescu Facial Spray. Simple, gentle, and effective, the facial spray is the perfect way to achieve smooth and refreshed skin.

When it comes to serums, Stewart is a firm believer in layering. One of her favorite treatments is SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic Serum. This vitamin C serum protects skin from the environment while reducing the appearance of lines.

Another go-to for Stewart is the Mario Badescu Vitamin C Serum. The brightening serum uses Vitamin C, collagen, and lavender oil to reveal a luminous look for all skin types. It’s also known to reduce lines, scars, and tighten skin.

Stewart also blessed us with a third serum to try: BioEffect EGF Day Serum. This wrinkle-fighting treatment is ultra-hydrating and environmentally friendly. In fact, the serum only has 7 ingredients that are grown in the company’s ecologically-engineered greenhouses.

While Stewart’s skin may look superhuman, even she’s not immune to the sun. Her favorite sunscreen is SkinCeuticals Physical Fusion UV Defense SPF 50.

The lightweight product is water-resistant and boasts broad-spectrum sun protection while boosting the skin’s radiance. Stewart applies it right before going outside for maximum effectiveness.

After spending the day in the sun, it’s important to moisturize. Stewart most frequently opts for Yon-Ka Pamplemousse because it helps dry and dull skin regain its radiance.

She also uses Mario Badescu Revitalin Moisturizer, which visibly brightens and improves dull skin with allantoin and vitamin E.

With such a great skincare routine, Stewart shows us that age doesn’t matter when it comes to an incredible complexion. You just need a few good products!

Pamela Anderson Looks Straight From The Set Of ‘Baywatch’ At ‘Pamela, A Love Story’ Premiere https://www.suggest.com/pamela-anderson-looks-straight-from-set-baywatch-pamela-a-love-story-premiere/2722064/ Sun, 05 Feb 2023 19:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2722064 Pamela Anderson smiling and laughing while sitting in a chair on stage in a white dress

What’s more classic than Pamela Anderson in red? When you think of Vivien Leigh, she’s in the green curtain gown; when you think of Marilyn Monroe, you picture the white halter dress; and when you think of Pamela Anderson, you see her in that red swimsuit.

Sure, Anderson had countless iconic looks. So many, in fact, that TikTok invented the “#PamCore” trend in appreciation of the ’90s sex symbol. However, on Monday, Anderson proved that red is still her color.

At the LA premiere of her new Netflix documentary, Pamela: A Love Story, Anderson paid tribute to her days as C.J. Parker with a glamorous crimson Naeem Khan gown. The dress featured a scooped neckline, much like her Baywatch swimsuit.

She paired the floor-length piece with strappy red open-toed sandals. She wore her signature bleach-blonde locks in a perfect up-do that showed off her diamond drop earrings, and she kept her makeup look simple but glamorous.

In addition to feeding our ’90s nostalgia, Anderson also matched all of the Netflix logos at the premiere of her new film, which critics are already hailing as the ultimate tribute to the legendary public figure. The documentary dropped on the streaming service on January 31, the same day her memoir Love, Pamela hit shelves.

Both projects are incredibly raw and revealing portraits of a criminally unknown woman. Sure, everyone knows who Pamela Anderson is. They’ve seen a lot more of her physically than they have most other celebrities. However, like so many women in the public eye, Anderson never really had a voice.

Anderson even says in the film that it’s easy to watch Baywatch with the sound off. “It wasn’t actually about the storylines,” she quips. However, she insists she has good memories of her time on the show. “We were having a ball. We couldn’t even believe that we were working because we were on the beach every day getting paid for this.”

It wasn’t all blissful reminiscing, though. She also touched on some extremely painful moments of her life, including her experiences with sexual abuse and the infamous invasion of her and Tommy Lee’s home.

On that note, she was outspoken against the 2022 Hulu series Pam & Tommy which revisited the theft and subsequent distribution of her and Lee’s sex tape. So, with this documentary, Anderson is finally getting to set the record straight.

A Timeline Of John Oliver’s Relationship With His Wife, Iraq Veteran Kate Norley https://www.suggest.com/john-oliver-wife-kate-norley/2722004/ Sat, 04 Feb 2023 23:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2722004 John Oliver (L) in black suit and tie standing next to Kate Norley, who is wearing a black gown

John Oliver got his first big career boost on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (1999-2015) in 2006. Stewart, on Ricky Gervais’ recommendation, summoned Oliver across the pond to the United States from his native England (according to The Hollywood Reporter).

After scoring various gigs over the years, Oliver received his very own program, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, in 2014. The Emmy-winning series has wowed viewers and critics alike. The show is believed by some to be so influential that it gets credited for having “the John Oliver effect” on legislation and popular culture.

Oliver’s wife, Kate Norley, who is from Arlington, Virginia, is truly a remarkable person in her own right. We looked into who she is and what the Olivers’ relationship is like. Here’s the lowdown on the amazing woman who shares the humorist’s life.

Who Is Kate Norley?

Kate Norley has definitely faced her share of major challenges. At the age of 16, she was struck by a vehicle while riding her bicycle. She sustained a head injury that was so severe she had to re-learn basic skills such as writing and reading.

However, that did not deter her from enlisting in the U.S. Army just three years later at age 19, motivated by a desire to serve following the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

Norley, an Iraq War veteran, was a mental health specialist who helped soldiers who were dealing with emotional trauma. She was also a counselor and a combat medic.

Norley has expressed tremendous gratitude for her military service, which she felt helped her to push her boundaries in unexpected ways. “The Army has given me a chance to do things I never dreamed I was capable of doing.”

Oliver has voiced his unabashed admiration for Norley, calling her “one of [his] heroes,” Parade reported. “I’m incredibly proud of her for everything that she did and has done and is continuing to do and supporting everyone who she has served with.”

Even after her military service ended, Norley ardently wanted to continue to support our troops and veterans.

Working with an organization called Vets for Freedom, her activities have included advocating for funding to assist veterans and speaking out on their behalf on national media outlets such as Fox News (per Yahoo).

Norley also reportedly supports Team Rubicon. They describe themselves as “a veteran-led humanitarian organization” that responds following disasters and crises.

Oliver and Norley first crossed paths in 2008 at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota. There’s a bit more to the story, however.

Oliver, who was covering the GOP gathering for The Daily Show, was in a restricted area on the second level of the venue, the Xcel Energy Center, stated The Hollywood Reporter.

With event security taking notice and carrying only a temporary work visa, Oliver could have landed in big trouble. He was even at risk for deportation!

Fortunately, Norley—who was there with Vets for Freedom—along with other veterans who were in attendance, came to Oliver’s rescue by concealing him.

Looking back on it, Oliver tersely assessed his plight on that day. “The end result is romantic; at the time, it just felt harrowing.”

As for Oliver and Norley, they were friends for a while, then they began dating. Their relationship clearly caught fire and blossomed.

They Married In October 2011

(Imeh Akpanudosen/Getty Images)

Oliver proposed to Norley in July 2010 while they were vacationing in St. Thomas after they had been seeing each other for a couple of years.

“I was a medic in the Army,” Norley told People. “It was difficult, but right now it’s nice that I get to spend time with the love of my life.”

Oliver characteristically joshed, “It’s the most emasculating thing I could possibly do to go out with someone who has actually done something valuable with their life.”

Evidently, the comedian’s joke couldn’t be further from the truth. Oliver doesn’t see his wife’s success as emasculating. In fact, he sometimes wears a 1st Cavalry Division pin on his lapel to honor Norley’s patriotism, bravery, and military service.

Oliver and Norley make their home in New York City, close to the studio where he tapes Last Week Tonight.

They Share Two Sons

(Andrew H. Walker/Getty Images)

The Olivers became a happy trio in 2015 when their son was born. Near the conclusion of an episode of Last Week Tonight, Oliver said, “I have a son. He is 19 months old. He was born prematurely following a very difficult pregnancy.”

In 2018, at the Emmy Awards Governors Ball, Oliver told People that he and Norley had a second child three months earlier.

Oliver had his reasons for not trumpeting the birth of his and Norley’s new baby. It wasn’t because he’s not a genuinely proud papa. As he wittily told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show (per The Hollywood Reporter), “We didn’t really announce it because it doesn’t matter. To me, it matters a great deal. Let me make that clear.”

He continued, “This is not a royal baby. In terms of how far in line he is to the throne, it’s a peasant. I have a peasant child. So it didn’t even cross my mind that we should make a public thing about it.”

In 2015, Oliver said cheekily to Vanity Fair that “he has entertained thoughts of giving his children ‘whatever the opposite of elocution lessons are, a kind of reverse-Pygmalion process: ‘By George, I think she’s lost it!’”

John Oliver and Kate Norley evidently have a solid partnership. He has been totally supportive and conspicuously admiring of her military service. It seems as though they are each present for the other publicly and privately, a key ingredient for a happy, enduring marriage.

Naomi Watts’ 40-Year-Old Throwback Shows She’s Always Advocated For Confidence About Body Changes https://www.suggest.com/naomi-watts-throwback-shows-always-advocated-confidence-about-body-changes/2721872/ Sat, 04 Feb 2023 21:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2721872 Naomi Watts smiles in cream-colored dress

Naomi Watts has always been open about her experiences with hormonal changes and encourages all women to be confident in their own skin. In fact, she’s been an advocate for positive change in this arena for over 40 years!

Watts just posted a fantastic side-by-side image on her Instagram. On the left, we see a throwback photo from a tampon commercial she did as a teenager with the caption “When can I start using tampons?” On the right appears a photo of the actress in a similar pose, asking a similar question about lubricant.

Watts, 54, asked in the post, “Why is it that we can talk about periods and puberty with ease, but when it comes to menopause, and yes, dryness… we all get a little skittish…. I created this post in an attempt to capture a woman’s hormonal bookends.”

However, as women age, so do their bodies. For far too long, menopause has been a taboo topic, but Watts wants to change that. In reference to the current-day photo of herself, Watts said, “[This] is a take on what it could look like if we tackled midlife hormonal challenges with the same kind of boldness.”

The actress is no stranger to hormonal changes in midlife. In fact, Watts experienced perimenopause in her 30s and was shocked to find a lack of resources and community on the topic.

She decided to do something about that by talking openly about her experience. As she said in the post, “When it comes to the ‘adult version’ of hormonal changes we’re thrust into the shadows of secrecy and shame… with a total lack of information, plus misinformation!”

But the actress is more than just talk. In fact, Watts founded Stripes, a company that believes that menopause isn’t a dirty word. The brand offers resources, education, and most importantly, a community to women who are experiencing perimenopause and menopause.

After all, as Watts pointed out, “More than 1 billion people worldwide will be menopausal by 2025.” That’s a lot of people who can support one another and break the stigma of menopause.

We’re thrilled to see Watts come full circle from promoting period protection as a teen to providing resources and a place for women to openly talk about menopause. It’s a cause we’re eager to get behind.

Jennifer Aniston’s 5-Second Hair Hack To Get Major Volume Is An Oldie But Goodie https://www.suggest.com/jennifer-aniston-5-second-hair-hack-get-major-volume-is-oldie-but-goodie/2721227/ Fri, 03 Feb 2023 19:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2721227 Jennifer Aniston smiling in a black striped dress against a neutral background

Jennifer Aniston became a hair icon after debuting “The Rachel” bob on Friends nearly 30 years ago. The ’90s hairstyle that solidified Aniston as a hair legend was created by hairstylist Chris McMillan.

Since then, the actress has partnered with McMillan for all her hair looks, whether she’s rocking natural beachy waves hair or a sleek blowout. Recently, the actress revealed one technique by McMillan that gives major volume to any hair in just seconds.

Turns out, the secret to major volume is so simple that many of us have been doing it for years. In a quick Instagram reel, Anniston shared that her full-proof volumizing technique doesn’t require a stylist or expensive products. In fact, all you need is a hairdryer and hairspray.

Simply flip your hair upside down, spray with hairspray, shake your head, blow with a hair dryer while you continue to shake your hair, stand up, and voila, major volume!

It’s a technique that many of us who grew up in the ’80s and ’90s remember well. In fact, some people have been using it ever since! One person commented, “It’s really easy. We’ve been doing it since the ’80s.” Another Instagrammer shared that “everyone that lived through the ’80s” uses this tried and true technique.

After seeing the video, we wanted to know what products McMillan uses on Aniston. Thankfully, the stylist revealed in an interview with Vogue that Aniston’s go-to hairspray is Oribe Superfine Hairspray.

The hairspray offers “flexible, brushable, shiny-soft control” that’s perfect for adding volume to all hair types. Just remember to follow McMillan’s advice that less is more.

Another volumizing spray that’s popular with many celebrities is Serge Normant Volumizing Spray. Brooke Shields, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Meghan Markle are just a few stars who swear by the hair product. And it’s no wonder why! The weightless spray provides texture and volume to all hair types but is best for thinning and fine hair.

As for Aniston, Living Proof products are a brand she has raved about in the past. One fabulous hairspray the company offers is Living Proof Style Lab Control Hairspray.

The hairspray is lightweight, affordable, and delivers hold and shine that lasts throughout the day. It’s the perfect product to get Aniston’s look. Plus, Living Proof is committed to sustainability and certified cruelty-free by PETA, so you can also feel good about using their products.

Regardless of whether or not you’re going for “The Rachel” look, Aniston’s simple 5-second hack along with a quality hairspray is sure to give you the volume you’re looking for each and every day!

Anne Hathaway Beckons Memories Of Her Catwoman Days In Her Head-To-Toe Leopard Print Ensemble That Somehow Isn’t Tacky https://www.suggest.com/anne-hathaway-head-to-toe-leopard-print-ensemble-actually-not-tacky/2721040/ Thu, 02 Feb 2023 23:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2721040 Anne Hathaway as Catwoman in 'The Dark Knight Rises'

Fashion events are a time for people to go all out, and this year’s Paris Fashion Week was no exception. While most people were talking about Kylie Jenner’s eye-catching lion-head gown, we couldn’t stop looking at Anne Hathaway’s bedazzled Valentino big cat-inspired look.

The actress wore a spaghetti-strap bedazzled mini dress; the gems made a glamorous leopard pattern on the dress. She accessorized with tights that also featured the sparkly cat-inspired motif, leopard print stilettos, and a matching clutch.

Leopard print is always tricky to pull off, especially when it’s a head-to-toe look. However, Hathaway’s look is the perfect example of how to wear the pattern well.

The actress’ bottom half was covered with the gemstone animal print, but she balanced the dramatic look by showing plenty of skin up top. The tights were sheer as well, keeping things light behind the gems.

Hathaway’s accessories were also perfectly picked to keep her Valentino look from feeling overpowering. Her shoes and clutch were leopard print, but by choosing a darker version of the print and keeping the pieces sleek and subtle, Hathway avoided any clashing.

With such a bold look, it’s no surprise Hathaway went simple when it came time for hair and makeup. She sported on-theme cat eye makeup and long, loose waves.

This outfit is classic Valentino. The Italian fashion house goes for eye-catching features, whether it’s the bright pink outfits and accessories from their Fall/Winter 2022 collection or the bedazzled looks they sent down the runway at 2023’s Paris Fashion Week.

It’s no surprise Hathaway brought some big cat energy to Paris Fashion Week. She famously played Catwoman in 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises where, in addition to the trademark leather catsuit and mask, she also wore a series of classic little black dresses.

The pattern on her outfit wasn’t the only thing getting wild at the Valentino show. A video taken at an afterparty shows Hathway letting loose on the dancefloor to LaBelle’s “Lady Marmalade.” The video quickly went viral, with fans calling her “the love of my life” and a “queen.”

Hathaway’s high-fashion look is a perfect example of how to rock a bold pattern without looking over-the-top, and yet another reminder that the actress’ fashion choices are always pitch perfect.

McNichol’s fans would like to know what she has been doing since she retired from acting years ago. This is what we found out about this talented former star who still has a loyal following.

She Announced Her Retirement From Acting In 2001

Her career kept her busy, and she made guest appearances on shows such as The Bionic Woman, The Love Boat, and Starsky & Hutch. She was in a trio of ABC Afterschool SpecialsMe and My Dad’s New Wife, Pinballs, and Fawn Story. McNichol was in films including Little Darlings (1980) with Tatum O’Neal and The Night the Light Went Out in Georgia (1981) with Mark Hamill and Dennis Quaid.

In 1988, Kristy McNichol landed a role in the NBC sitcom Empty Nest. It was a spin-off of the hugely successful sitcom The Golden Girls. McNichol departed from the show four years later when she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. She came back in 1995 for Empty Nest’s concluding episode. That was McNichol’s final on-screen appearance.

She voiced the character of Angie Romar in the TV series Invasion America (1998). It was McNichol’s last acting role. In 2001, she released a statement (per MSN Entertainment) explaining the reason why she decided to leave acting permanently. She seemed glad to have the opportunity to concentrate on her well-being.

“A lot of people have wondered what I’ve been up to,” McNichol said. “I retired from my career after 24 years. My feeling was that it was time to play my biggest part—MYSELF! I must say that it has been the best thing that ever happened to me. So many fans are disappointed that I’m not currently acting; however, some may not realize that the process I’m in at this time is necessary and vital for my personal happiness and well-being.

After Retiring, She Focused On Teaching And Charity

McNichol has seemingly been comfortable with maintaining a low public profile. She reportedly has been involved with charitable endeavors and taught acting at a private school in Los Angeles (per Turner Classic Movies).

For three years, McNichol hosted a tennis tournament that benefited the Help Group charity. McNichol is also a volunteer at Emerald City Assisted Living in Glendale, California. In 2022, she filmed a video asking for donations to Aspiranet’s holiday gift drive so underserved youngsters could have holiday presents.

She Came Out In 2012

In 2012, Kristy McNichol announced her sexuality via People. She was nearing the age of 50 and said she wanted to be authentic about who she was while also supporting young people who got mistreated by their peers because of their own sexuality.

People ran a story and a snap of McNichol with her longtime partner, Martie Allen. They had been together for 20 years at that point. Jeff Ballard, McNichol’s publicist, said, “She hopes that coming out can help kids who need support. She would like to help others who feel different.”

After stepping back from acting and constantly being in the public eye, McNichol seems to have found contentment. She reportedly enjoys travel, yoga, tennis, and raising miniature dachshunds (per People). According to Ballard in 2012, “She is very happy and healthy. And she enjoys living a very private life.”

McNichol had ample reason to walk away from acting and her very public life. Her decision to do so is more readily understood when you are aware of what preceded it.

McNichol Deserves The Quiet Life Now

She had previously spent much of her existence squarely in front of millions as a famous, widely admired celebrity. Kristy McNichol seemed to have the enviable life of a golden girl, but behind the scenes, she said she was beset by doubts, depression, and inner turmoil.

A People cover story from 1989 titled “To Hell And Back” described McNichol’s torment in painful detail. According to People, her emotional crisis came to a head in 1982 when she was on her way to France to film a movie called Just the Way You Are

“I was so confused,” she remembered. “I was so depressed. I was so full of anxiety. I was a wreck. And there I was filming a movie.”

McNichol admitted that at that time, she could not eat or sleep, she lost weight, and she felt like she was always crying. She acknowledged that leading up to this moment, she went through “years of hell.”

McNichol had experienced an emotional  breakdown, People reported. All her pent-up feelings from having a high-profile, high-pressure career at such an early age came roaring out. “It all came to a head. All the rejection, all the ups and downs of my career—not having a childhood, coming from a broken home …”

Things reached rock bottom for McNichol, then she found her footing again with the help of a psychiatrist. Eventually going back to work doing Empty Nest was restorative for her, too. Years afterward, the formula for McNichol’s happiness turned out to involve exiting the limelight and living her life on her own terms.

McNichol apparently has no regrets. She told ABC News in 2014, “This phase of my life is so good. My home life is happy and serene. I love singing. I also enjoy traveling and seeing the world. One of my favorite stops is Hawaii. I like everything about it and may eventually move there part-time.”

McNichol responded cryptically at that time when questioned about possibly returning to acting someday.  ”Never say never,” she replied.

Kristy McNichol earned a place in America’s heart as a teenager with her precocious acting skill, especially in Family, and later on, with her forthrightness about her own sexuality.

Since McNichol began leading a more private life, she has helped others through volunteering while spending time on leisure pursuits she likes. McNichol also finds joy by being at the side of her partner of many years, Martie Allen.

We, along with her other fans, would love to see McNichol back on the screen again at some time in the future. Regardless of whether that ever happens, we wish her the abundant happiness she deserves.

A Legal Battle Battle Is Brewing Over Lisa Marie Presley’s Will As Priscilla Presley Contends ‘Invalid Signature’ https://www.suggest.com/lisa-marie-presley-priscilla-presley-legal-battle-brewing-over-will-invalid-signature/2720995/ Thu, 02 Feb 2023 17:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2720995 Closeup of Priscilla Presley pushing back a strand of her hair

Now that Lisa Marie Presley has been laid to rest at Graceland, her surviving family and their counsel are left with the task of sorting out her estate. In an unfortunate turn of events, reports now claim that Priscilla Presley is contesting her daughter’s will in a bid to gain control of the trust.

Priscilla Presley Challenges 2016 Amendment To Daughter’s Will

The petition concerns a 2016 amendment to Lisa Marie’s will that removes Priscilla and her former business manager, Barry Siegel, as trustees, subsequently replacing them with her eldest children, Riley and Benjamin Keough.

However, since Benjamin died by suicide in 2020, Riley currently stands as the sole inheritor of her mother’s fortune—including the remaining inheritance from her legendary father, Elvis Presley.

Suggest previously reported that Graceland is being held in a trust benefiting all three of Lisa Marie’s daughters, including her 14-year-old twin daughters, Finley and Harper Lockwood.

Priscilla has now filed documents in the Los Angeles Superior Court challenging multiple aspects of said amendment. According to Elvis Presley’s ex-wife, Lisa Marie’s signature on the document “appears inconsistent with her usual and customary signature.”

In addition to the claim about the autograph, Priscilla also notes that her name was misspelled on the document. The motion goes on to claim that the amendment wasn’t notarized and was never delivered to Priscilla, apparently violating their 2010 trust arrangement.

Value Of Lisa Marie Presley’s Estate Currently Unclear

Priscilla hasn’t publicly commented on the development, and it’s unclear how the legal battle will play out from here. It’s been widely reported for years that Lisa Marie struggled financially.

She even sued Siegel for “recklessness and negligence” in his handling of her father’s inheritance, claiming her trust had dwindled from $100 million to just $14,000, via Classic Country. “Siegel repeatedly led Lisa to believe she was in ‘good shape’ with her finances,” the suit claimed.

However, Siegel counter-sued Lisa Marie for $800,000 in unpaid fees. Siegel publicly stated that Lisa Marie had “uncontrollable spending habits” and that she “squandered” her father’s fortune. At this time, it isn’t clear how valuable Lisa Marie’s estate really is—or how strong her mother’s claim is.

What we are certain of is that this is just the beginning, and we’ll certainly be watching closely from here as the legal battle unfolds.

How Drama With Edward Norton’s Ex, Courtney Love, Affected His Relationship With Salma Hayek https://www.suggest.com/edward-norton-courtney-love-salma-hayek-how-drama-ex-affected-relationship/2720746/ Thu, 02 Feb 2023 15:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2720746 Side by side image (L): Edward Norton with Courtney Love, R: Edward Norton with Salma Hayek

Edward Norton has been making headlines for his personal and professional life for years, including his high-profile relationships. The actor once dated two major stars back-to-back, creating complications in his relationships with both Courtney Love and Salma Hayek.

Love Slammed Hayek After Her Own Breakup With Norton

Norton and Love met on the set of 1996’s The People Vs. Larry Flynt and started dating shortly after the movie premiered. They dated on and off for the next three years and even got engaged at one point.

However, the couple ultimately called it quits in 1999 and Norton wasted no time moving on. That same year, he was set up on a date with Hayek and sparks flew. They were happily coupled up, but Love soon made it clear she was not a fan of her ex moving on so quickly.

In a 2003 interview, Love said she still “love[d] Edward so much.” At the time, Norton was dating Hayek, but the Hole frontwoman shared her not-so-nice thoughts on the relationship.

Love said she didn’t think Norton and Hayek would get married because “he can barely understand half of what she’s saying,” referring to Hayek’s accent. Love faced backlash for her comments about her ex’s new relationship and ultimately issued an apology to Hayek.

Norton And Hayek’s Mysterious Split

That same year, Norton and Hayek split, which was confirmed by the actress’ young co-star Daryl Sabara. While appearing on the TODAY show, Sabara said, “She isn’t with Ed Norton anymore” before host Matt Lauer quickly cut him off.

The couple was famously private, so not much is known about why they broke things off, but having Norton’s ex-girlfriend publicly talk about them in the press probably didn’t help matters. However, it seems as if Norton is still on good terms with both of his exes.

Norton Is Still Friendly With Both Exes

Love still speaks highly of Norton today and has even said that she left him “everything” in her will. She has also said that she “should have married Norton,” but left him because she wasn’t ready for commitment at the time (per Metro UK).

Norton and Hayek are also still close—he was on the guest list for her 2009 wedding to billionaire businessman Francois-Henri Pinault. His date to the wedding was Shauna Robertson, whom he ended up marrying in 2012.

While not much is known about why Norton and Hayek called it quits, it’s clear that Love’s insulting public statements leveled towards Hayek definitely didn’t help matters.

Linda Ronstadt Was Way Ahead Of Her Time Calling Out Rupert Murdoch’s BS 40 Years Ago https://www.suggest.com/linda-ronstadt-was-way-ahead-her-time-calling-out-rupert-murdochs-bs-years-ago/2721079/ Wed, 01 Feb 2023 23:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2721079 1970s photo of Linda Ronstadt singing into a microphone on a darkened stage

It’s about time Gen Z gets acquainted with Linda Ronstadt! Ronstadt’s song “Long Long Time” looks like it could get the “Running Up That Hill” treatment since it appeared in Sunday’s episode of The Last of Us. However, in addition to possessing a massive, timeless discography, Ronstadt is a trailblazing icon for her public presence as well. Just watch her absolutely rip billionaire Rupert Murdoch to shreds in this 1983 interview.

Rupert Murdoch Was King Of The Tabloids

Today, the world knows Rupert Murdoch as one of the richest people on the planet. He’s the head of one of the largest media empires in the world, presiding over Fox News, The Times of London, The New York Post, and The Wall Street Journal. However, before he was the international media mogul that we know him as today, he was king of the tabloids.

Originally operating in his home country of Australia, Murdoch essentially invented the tabloid format that we all know and loathe today. The profession certainly made him a few enemies, including legendary musician Linda Ronstadt.

Before Murdoch renounced his Australian citizenship to launch a hostile takeover of some of America’s sleaziest news networks, Ronstadt was already publicly criticizing his work. In 1983, Ronstadt appeared on Australia’s Don Lane Show via satellite broadcast, and she was ready to give Australian journalists a piece of her mind.

“It’s amazing to me that people read stuff in People Magazine or The National Enquirer. Your press down there is really… I mean you gave us Rupert Murdoch! The most horrible man in the world,” Ronstadt said candidly. “Australia gave us Rupert Murdoch, thanks a lot you guys. Take him back, we don’t need him here.”

‘It’s Bad For Journalism’

By 1983, Ronstadt had certainly experienced her fair share of tabloid slander. She was the highest paid woman in rock, she was outspoken about political and social issues, and she had plenty of high-profile romances with the likes of Jim Carrey and George Lucas.

In other words, Ronstadt was one of the many celebrities with a target on her back. However, in that same interview, she pointed out that Murdoch’s signature style isn’t just damaging for the subjects, but for journalism as a whole.

“He’s very irresponsible, too,” Ronstadt went on. “You see these screaming headlines in his newspapers about politics or about a shooting or killing that are only meant to inflame terror and horror. It drives me crazy … It’s bad for journalism! It’s bad for the responsible journalists that are out there.”

It’s clear that Ronstadt was ahead of her time in more ways than one. Her genre-defying musical style made strides in the music industry, but her unapologetic outspokenness is refreshing even in today’s age.

Chris Distefano’s Relationship With His Wife Jazzy Got Off To An Abrupt Start https://www.suggest.com/chris-distefano-wife-jazzy/2720962/ Wed, 01 Feb 2023 15:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2720962 Chris Distefano (L) and his wife, Jazzy posing outside in brightly colored clothing

Chris Distefano perfected his stand-up comedy technique by performing at clubs and lounges in New York. MTV welcomed him to its shows such as Guy Code, which launched in 2011, and Girl Code, which began in 2013. He also appeared on popular TV programs such as Late Night with Seth Meyers and Late Night with David Letterman

Distefano has toured nationally as well as worldwide. He established himself as a master of his craft when he starred in his own hour-long special on Comedy Central, Chris Distefano: Size 38 Waist, in 2019.

His arrangement with Comedy Central actually encompassed two series in the pipeline: a series called Stupid Questions with Chris Distefano and Stand-Up with Chris Distefano, which was a podcast that began in 2019.

Distefano’s career is obviously flying high. Romantically, he’s on track as well. The special lady in his life is Jasmine “Jazzy” Canuelas. People want to know more about her life with him and what she does professionally. This is the lowdown on Chris Distafano’s partner in life and love.

Who Is Jazzy Distefano?

Jazzy’s career, like Distefano’s, is sizzling. She is a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) certified personal trainer, Zumba-certified instructor, fitness instructor, and spin instructor. Jazzy teaches at Spin Forest Hills in New York, where they apparently love her.

They posted on Instagram that “[n]ot only is she a dear friend and bad ass mom of 3, but she’s also one of the best instructors around. We’re so happy to have her on the team still.”

They’ve Been Together Since 2014

Distefano explained how he met Jazzy when he was a guest on the Howie Mandel Does Stuff podcast. In 2014, the two were both at a Coney Island, Brooklyn bar called Place to Beach which boasted a lively social scene. There was music, dancing, the whole works. “She’s Puerto Rican, I was Italian, it was like West Side Story stuff,” Distefano recalled.

Jazzy mentioned to Distefano that she was a salsa instructor. “Do a move,” she told him. He quipped that he couldn’t because he had a kidney issue. “You’re an idiot,” she said to him.

That was not an auspicious beginning for the couple, but they eventually did get together. They went on their first date a week later. As he explained to Mandel, Jazzy got pregnant with their first daughter on their second date.

They Live In A New Jersey Suburb

Distefano, Jazzy, and their kids make their home in a New Jersey suburb. It seems to suit him very well. “I love it,” he enthusiastically declared on his podcast.

Distefano and Jazzy share three young children: two daughters, Delilah and Violette Luna, plus her son from a previous relationship, Tristan.

He has been candid about the challenges of parenting young kids. “One is pretty easy,” he said, “but if you have two, you might as well have 2000.” Distefano went into detail about the hectic regimen that he and Jazzy have to keep in order to raise their thriving trio of youngsters.

Early in the morning, there is what he termed a “mad dash” to get all three off to school. The kids get home between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. Then he and Jazzy supervise their homework, either cook dinner or order out, and get them into the shower and to bed, which the children don’t always want to do.

“By the time it gets to 7 p.m.,” Distefano said, “you are beyond exhausted.” He added, “I genuinely think that parenting is the hardest thing to do,” and yet he said he couldn’t imagine life without their three precious tots.

They Support Each Other’s Careers

What cements Distefano and Jazzy’s relationship is the fact that each is supportive of what the other does professionally. Both have demanding careers but Distefano is always steadfastly there for Jazzy and she is always steadfastly there for him.

She sometimes appears on Distefano’s podcast. Jazzy seems to have a healthy sense of humor. In fact, she looks right at home sitting beside her beau while his sometimes-pointed wisecracks come thick and fast. Jazzy frequently joins in the hilarity while guffawing heartily at the goings-on.

Chris features Jazzy’s workouts on his podcast. In one, he is like her student while she expertly guided him through exercises like jumping jacks and squats. He complained periodically even though he gamely—and humorously—tried to keep up.

In another, Distefano grabs a container of spinach lasagna straight from the fridge and chows down without even bothering to heat it up. Jazzy comes in and scolds him, saying “We’re going to train right now!” Finally, they head out to the backyard by the swimming pool where Jazzy oversees Distefano’s workout with water weights.

Jazzy Got Her Breast Implants Removed To Set A Good Example

Jazzy got breast implants when she was 25, but went on to have them removed. When she was asked on Distefano’s podcast if she felt different without them, she said there was a “huge difference” in how she felt now as compared to when she had them. Jazzy also said that she felt like herself again without the implants.

Distefano added that what Jazzy did set a good example for their daughters about taking control of their bodies and doing what felt right for them. He said, “We support individual choices of what people want to do.”

Jazzy wants her daughters—and women who watch the show—to feel comfortable in their own bodies, whatever they decide to do.

They Disagree About Whether To Get Married

Distefano and Jazzy clearly have different ideas about whether they should get hitched. They don’t quite agree on exactly what the institution of marriage represents.

He said, “We’re married by the laws of nature,” and added that his definition of marriage is “a law that is a piece of paper that some guy made up.” Distefano explained that, “The reason why I don’t like marriage is because I’m a child of divorce.”

He seems to feel that the two of them are already fully committed to each other in every way that truly counts, especially because they have children who they are parenting together.

Jazzy, on the other hand, evidently would like to tie the knot with Distefano. She said that to her, marriage represents “a nice level of commitment.” She doesn’t like the way he calls her his wife although she is not. “I don’t think that’s right,” Jazzy said.

Chris Distefano and his partner, Jazzy, have built a cozy life for themselves and their kids. Whether wedding bells will be pealing for them anytime soon is up in the air. Whatever they decide to do, we wish this couple loads of love and laughter always.

At 44, Karen Elson Is The Stunning Face Of A New Gucci Campaign https://www.suggest.com/karen-elson-stunning-face-new-gucci-campaign/2720618/ Tue, 31 Jan 2023 15:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2720618 Karen Elson smiles in red dress with black undergarment peeking out

The fashion industry has always lauded the fountain of youth as the premiere beauty standard. From featuring the youngest models possible to gearing advertisements toward teens and tweens, the world of beauty and fashion often forgets that women of all ages are beautiful.

Thankfully, Gucci recognizes that women in their 40s are just as lovely as those in their 20s. The proof is in their new Gucci Cruise 2023 collection that features 44-year-old Karen Elson as the face of the new campaign.

Beauty Doesn’t Fade After Your 20s

We’re thrilled to see Gen X women such as Elson set the record straight and tell the fashion industry that beauty doesn’t stop after your 20s.

In the ad campaign, Elson is captivating in a retro-inspired silk turtleneck and wool skirt set by Gucci. The diagonal striped ensemble is a play on textures and patterns that Elson brings to life effortlessly.

Seeing Elson as the face of the campaign is refreshing since young models are often the chosen ones in the fashion industry. However, the supermodel is no stranger to the limelight. In fact, Elson began her modeling career as a teenager and appeared on the cover of Italian Vogue on her 18th birthday.

Since beginning her modeling career, Elson has walked the runway for designers such as Marc Jacobs, Versace, Dior, and, of course, Gucci. She’s also a musician and the ex-wife of Jack White, with whom she shares a daughter, Scarlett Teresa White, 16, and a son Henry Lee White, 15.

Could The Tides Be Turning?

Although Elson began her career in her teens, the fashion industry is slowly waking up to the fact that beauty is ageless. In fact, Elson is one of many Gen Xers to continue her modeling career into her 40s. Charlize Theron, 47, continues to model for Dior and became the face of Dior’s J’adore Parfum d’eau perfume in the fall of 2022.

Other supermodels, such as Cindy Crawford, continue to model in their 50s and even later in life. Crawford, 56, is both surprised and grateful that she is able to model in midlife. In a recent interview, Crawford admitted that when she began modeling, “There was no way [she] thought [she] would still be quote-unquote ‘modeling’ to this day.”

As supermodels in their 40s and 50s reign supreme as the faces of well-known fashion brands, we hope to see more and more Gen X women featured in the fashion industry.

Angie Dickinson Is Enjoying The Quiet Life After Leaving A Lasting Legacy With ‘Police Woman’ https://www.suggest.com/angie-dickinson-enjoying-quiet-life-lasting-legacy-police-woman/2720595/ Mon, 30 Jan 2023 23:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2720595 Screenshot of Angie Dickinson speaks while wearing a black jacket

If you watched the NBC drama Police Woman (1974-1978), then you certainly remember Angie Dickinson, who played the title role of Sergeant Pepper Anderson. She brought a quiet dignity, intensity, and refinement to her portrayal.

Dickinson, born Angeline Brown on September 30, 1931, in Kulm, North Dakota, had a lengthy and distinguished career in films and on television both prior to and after Police Woman

Her fans wonder how she is today and what she’s been doing professionally. We have the scoop on Angie Dickinson, whose classiness was always her trademark.

Dickinson Continued Acting Into The 2000s

2000 was a busy year for Dickinson. She had four separate projects, most notably Pay It Forward, in which she played Helen Hunt’s homeless, alcoholic mom. She appeared in Big Bad Love (2001) with Arliss Howard and Debra Winger, and Elvis Has Left The Building (2004) with Kim Basinger and Tom Hanks. Dickinson’s last film appearance was in the TV movie Mending Fences in 2009.

She’s happy with where she is in her life and isn’t looking to extend her career by accepting more acting jobs. As Dickinson told AARP in 2011, “I am not looking for work, I don’t really care. I’ve had my day in the sun, and I am very content.”

Her ‘Police Woman’ Role Has Had A Lasting Legacy

Although it may seem incredible that it took until the 1970s to reach these milestones, Police Woman was the first television program to star a woman in an hour-long show and the first to feature a woman as a law enforcement officer.

Dickinson reflected on the trailblazing nature of that show in 2001 on the radio program Fresh Air. “It was absolutely groundbreaking,” she said. Prior to Police Woman, she noted that women starred in comedies on TV, not dramas.

The show also inspired women to want to become real-life law enforcement professionals. Dickinson said, “Yes, there was a surge [of applications from women who were eager to join the police force.]. And a lot of fan letters with that—I became a cop because of you” (per CBS).

Having the distinction of being the first actress to open those doors meant a lot to Dickinson, but it came at a steep personal price. She said she worked grueling 12-hour days and sacrificed much of her social and family life because of her job’s daily demands.

“I lost friends,” she acknowledged. “I lost a husband,” referring to her spouse at the time, composer Burt Bacharach. They divorced in 1981, three years after Police Woman ended its run.

She Lost Her Daughter In 2007

Dickinson has had a life filled with success, glamor, and the satisfaction that comes from having a bold-face Hollywood name for decades—but she has experienced her share of heartbreaking sorrow as well.

Dickinson and Burt Bacharach had a daughter named Lea Nikki (whom they called ‘Nikki’) in 1966. The child was born three months premature and was later found to have Asperger’s syndrome along with an eye condition called strabismus, a condition that causes someone’s eyes to focus in different directions.

“She was very smart and funny and wonderful,” Dickinson recalled affectionately. “Yeah, so all the memories of her are my best memories.”

Dickinson understood the painful circumstances at the root of her daughter’s situation. She told Los Angeles Magazine in 2010, “If she hit me, she would hit me out of frustration, of not being able to cope with whatever it was, was her problem. She had no coping skills.”

Dickinson explained how pervasive and frustrating this was for Nikki. “People think, ‘Oh, coping skills—that means that you can deal with it if you sprain your ankle or you didn’t get the job.’ The other person does not know and will never know that it means not being able to cope with anything …

Added to that was the little-known nature of Asperger’s at that time, which only made Nikki’s life even more keenly challenging.

Dickinson brought her daughter to a residential facility, the Constance Bultman Wilson Center in Faribault, Minnesota, where she remained for 10 years. From Dickinson’s account, Nikki’s stay there was not a success.

She finally decided to be with her daughter full-time. “Nikki and I did everything together,” Dickinson said. “We traveled together and saw movies together, even more than before. My life—conscious, subconscious, every conscious—was Nikki; I was completely dedicated to her. She just was my soul mate.”

Sadly, as Dickinson eventually learned, even a mother’s powerful and unyielding love was not enough to save Nikki. She took her own life in 2007 at the age of 40.

She Enjoyed An Active Love Life

Dickinson was married twice. Her first husband was former football player Gene Dickinson. They were married from 1952 to 1960.

Her second spouse was composer Burt Bacharach, whom she wed in 1965. They separated in 1976 and dated others before they were divorced. From Dickinson’s perspective, their relationship was rocky.

“He should never have been married. He never loved me, I can tell you that right now, the way one loves. He loved in his own way, which is not too good. And so, he had no respect for me,” she told CBS.

Dickinson moved in a world filled with charismatic men. She was linked romantically with some of them. She and Frank Sinatra had a relationship, but Ol’ Blue Eyes didn’t envision himself marching to the altar with Dickinson, who appeared with him in Ocean’s 11 (1960).

Their lifestyles were not alike, either. He was apparently a hard-core nocturnal socializer. “And he said, [according to Dickinson}, ‘You know, I’m not going to marry an actress.’ And I said, ‘Well, I don’t blame you. I wouldn’t wish that on anybody,.’ Dickinson said.

“And I actually didn’t want to marry him. So, I didn’t want him to ask me to marry him. ‘Cause I didn’t wanna say no to Frank Sinatra!”

In the 1980s, Dickinson was involved with another A-lister, actor Glenn Ford. “He was a stay-at-home guy and when we were together he just didn’t talk a lot which made it difficult to keep the relationship going,” Dickinson told CBS. She and television personality Larry King were reportedly an item in the 1990s.

Angie Dickinson stayed true to herself throughout her life and career. She rose through the ranks in Hollywood at a time when women were often subjugated to men, both on-screen and off.

She stood her ground and set the stage for actresses who followed her in woman-led TV dramas like Cagney & Lacey. We say bravo to this acting legend who is strong, independent, and at peace with herself.

Esme Bianco Settles Suit Against Marilyn Manson; What Happened To The Other Lawsuits Against Him? https://www.suggest.com/esme-bianco-settles-suit-against-marilyn-manson-what-happened-other-lawsuits-against-him/2720383/ Mon, 30 Jan 2023 18:20:44 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2720383 side by side close ups of Esme Bianco smiling in a colorful blouse and Marilyn Manson looking unhappy in a grey coat

Actress and burlesque performer Esmé Bianco has settled her lawsuit against Marilyn Manson for an undisclosed amount, drawing one battle of the singer’s legal war to a close. However, Bianco is far from the only woman to file a civil suit against the controversial singer.

Since launching his career in the late ’80s, Manson—whose real name is Brian Hugh Warner—has been accused of advocating for violence and depravity through his over-the-top goth persona. However, his reputation reached new lows during the #MeToo movement of the late 2010s when multiple women accused him of sexual abuse. Here’s what we know about the subsequent lawsuits the singer has faced.

Esmé Bianco Settles Her Lawsuit Against Manson

In April 2021, Game of Thrones actress Esmé Bianco filed a lawsuit against her ex-boyfriend, musician Marilyn Manson, for alleged sexual assault, sexual battery, and trafficking. Thinking Manson would help “launch her career,” Bianco—who’s originally from the UK—moved to California in 2011 and began a relationship with him. She’s since alleged that she endured “constant abuse,” both physical and sexual during their time together.

Interestingly, the presiding judge ruled Bianco’s case admissible despite the described events occurring a decade ago, long past the statute of limitations. According to the judge, the lasting effects of Manson’s abuse on Bianco’s personal and professional lives landed the defendant’s alleged offense well within the legal time window.

Since the suit was filed, we’ve had little updates on the case. That is until January 24 when Howard King, Manson’s lawyer released the following statement to Rolling Stone: “Ms. Bianco has agreed to resolve her claims against Brian Warner and Marilyn Manson Records, Inc.”

Ashley Walters’ Suit Was Dismissed With Prejudice

In May of 2021, Manson’s former personal assistant Ashley Walters filed her own civil suit against her former employer. According to the suit, Manson created an extremely toxic workplace environment during the year she spent in his employ. Walters, who worked for Manson from 2010 to 2011, alleges she endured sex discrimination, sexual harassment, sexual assault, interference with the exercise of civil rights in violation of the Bane Act, sexual battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

One year after Walters filed the suit, the presiding judge dismissed the case with prejudice, meaning she’s barred from refiling, per Billboard. The judge cited the statute of limitations, insisting that Walters failed to file within the proper time frame after she severed ties with Manson. Walters insists it isn’t that simple, though. According to the plaintiff, she feared retaliation from Manson if she spoke up.

Ashley Smithline’s Was Dismissed Without Prejudice

In June of 2021, model Ashley Morgan Smithline also filed a lawsuit against Manson. In the suit, she graphically described enduring nightmare-inducing abuse at the hands of Manson over the course of their two-year relationship. The singer has denied all of the allegations, insisting that he and Smithline dated for less than a week.

In late 2022, Smithline discharged her lawyer for unknown reasons. The presiding judge then advised her to find new counsel by December 5, but she either chose not to or was unable to do so. The judge subsequently dismissed her lawsuit without prejudice, meaning she can choose to refile at any time. It’s unclear why Smithline chose not to continue her legal battle, but, of course, Manson and his legal team insist it was because there was never a case to begin with.

“We thank and commend Ashley Smithline for dismissing her claims against Brian Warner without seeking or receiving anything in return,” Manson’s lawyer told Page Six. “Ms. Smithline has refused to be manipulated by others who are trying to pursue their own agendas against Mr. Warner. We wish her well and will continue to work to assure that a significant price will be paid by those who have tried to abuse our legal system.”

Jane Doe’s Suit Is Ongoing

In May of 2021, an anonymous woman filed a civil suit against Manson. According to the plaintiff, she dated the singer for years after meeting him at a pre-Grammy party in 2011. “Defendant lured plaintiff, a musician, into what was, at first, a consensual romantic relationship. A short time later, however, he raped Ms. Doe. He also subjected Ms. Doe to further degrading acts of sexual exploitation, manipulation, and psychological abuse,” the suit reads, via NBC News.

She describes Manson depriving her of food, subjecting her to violent outbursts, and even threatening to kill her. Her suit was initially dismissed for surpassing the statute of limitations and she was given 20 days to refile, which she did.

According to Doe, she repressed the traumatic memories and only rediscovered them after other women spoke up about Manson’s abuse. On the basis of “delayed discovery,” the suit was deemed admissible, per Billboard. The civil suit is still ongoing, and there have been very few updates since its 2021 filing.

Another Jane Doe Has Come Forward

In January 2023, Manson was served with a new lawsuit from an unnamed plaintiff who claims the musician sexually assaulted her multiple times between 1995 and 1999, starting just after the plaintiff turned 16 years old. The suit also includes Manson’s former record labels, Interscope Music and Nothing Records. Nothing was started by Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor, who has spoken out against Manson in the years since Manson was dropped from the label.

The accusations, to which Manson has not yet responded, include a litany of assaults against Jane Doe in addition to the claim that Manson threatened to kill her family if she ever said anything. This case has not seen the inside of a courtroom as yet and is in its very early stages, which is important to note.

Evan Rachel Wood Never Filed

Westworld actress Evan Rachel Wood has arguably been Manson’s most outspoken accuser over the years. According to Wood, she began a relationship with Manson when she was just 18 years old. Manson was 37 at the time. They dated on-and-off for about four and a half years and even became engaged in 2010. They ended their relationship seven months later.

She’s since described being groomed, raped, physically abused, drugged, and much, much more while dating the singer. Wood, who was raised in the Jewish faith, even suffered relentless antisemitic attacks from Manson, which included being hit with a Nazi whip from the Holocaust.

According to Wood, she never filed a civil suit against Manson because, by the time she fully understood the abuse she endured, the statute of limitations had run out. Since going public with her story, she’s been an outspoken advocate for victims’ rights. She even detailed her journey in the HBO docu-series Phoenix Rising, which premiered in 2022 and included the stories of multiple other Manson accusers.

Per Rolling Stone, Marilyn Manson and his legal team have filed a defamation lawsuit against Wood for the series.

The Unlikely Famous Friend Who Courtney Love Credits With Helping Her Live Cleaner https://www.suggest.com/courtney-love-gwyneth-paltrow-unlikely-famous-friendcredits-helping-live-cleaner/2719851/ Sun, 29 Jan 2023 23:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2719851 Courtney Love standing in black jacket while holding black crossbody purse against off-white backdrop

Some recent Instagram posts have revealed a Hollywood friendship that many were not aware of before now. An Instagram post from Paris Fashion Week gave Love the perfect opportunity to show Gwyneth Paltrow some love for helping her live healthier.

Love Reveals A 10-Year Friendship With Gwyneth Paltrow

Love posted some pictures of herself attending a Dior event for Paris Fashion Week. Fans and friends commented on the star’s glam look, including Paltrow. The actress wrote, “Um, excuse me looking GORGE,” with a red heart emoji.

Love responded with a lengthy message about the pair’s friendship, which many were unaware of until now. “10 years ago you told me to buck up. To take control of my appearance. To do me & stop reading things about myself. I finally HEARD you,” the rocker wrote.

“FURTHER,” she continued. “I was about to write you privately, but i want people to know. Where I’m staying, due to YOUR influence, they are taking my health & allergies seriously, they even added your PANCAKES ! to the menu! Hopefully our insane European & [American] dependence / addiction, to dairy, will start to abate. You are such a force for good in the world … (Hey .. it was the dairy. The titanium. Or the ozempic that almost killed me, or a sick triad of all [3] in the first place) I love you.”

This isn’t the first time Love and Paltrow have shown each other love on social media. In 2012, the pair rang in the New Year together and Love posted a picture of the friends celebrating. She has also mentioned Paltrow and her advice in previous interviews.

Love’s Latest Appearance: ‘I Don’t Want To Be Around Rich People’

Love might need to lean on Paltrow’s friendship as she weathers her current social media backlash. The controversy started with a video posted by i-D from Paris Fashion Week. In the clip, Love urged viewers to stay offline because it would affect their ability to get jobs and said she was looking forward to getting away from the Fashion Week crowds, saying, “I don’t want to be around rich people.”

The comments section soon filled with people pointing out that Love frequently posts on various social media platforms and that, as a wealthy, world-famous rockstar attending Paris Fashion Week, she is one of those rich people.

Love has responded to the criticism, saying her responses were taken out of context and she didn’t mean to cause any offense. As the singer works to move past this social media storm, it’s good to know she has a true friend like Paltrow to go to when things get tough!

All Of Christina Aguilera’s Most Aggressively Y2K Fashion Looks Featured Her Favorite Accessory https://www.suggest.com/christina-aguilera-most-aggressively-y2k-fashion-looks-featured-favorite-accessory/2719866/ Sun, 29 Jan 2023 21:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2719866 Christina Aguilera poses in magenta top with high bun

When Christina Aguilera came onto the music scene in the ’90s, she made waves with both her four-octave vocal range and her, cough, *unique* sense of style.

Although her sense of style has developed over the years, Aguilera has always enjoyed trying out various fashion looks. In fact, the Grammy Award winner told Elle, “I look back at the looks I’ve had over the years. I’m proud of myself that I had the courage to experiment with crazy hairstyles and some fashion things. Would I do it again? No. But that’s part of the learning process and getting from point A to point B.”

Turns out, many of her “point A” ensembles included some crazy hats. Let’s take a look!

On November 14, 2002, the musician appeared on MTV’s TRL for their “Spankin’ New Music Week.” The singer topped off her outfit with a fedora-inspired lavender hat.

Apparently the singer loved a good newsboy cap because she sported another version a few months later at the 30th Annual American Music Awards in Los Angeles on January 13, 2003.

True To Her Roots

Although Aguilera’s style has certainly changed over the years, she still loves to accessorize with a good hat. At the 2022 Latin Grammy Awards, Aguilera donned headwear on stage.

Earlier in the year, she even sported a glittery hat on Instagram as she thanked fans for a great summer tour. As Aguilera continues to experiment with her “point B” looks, we’re thrilled that her wardrobe still includes her favorite accessory.

Find Out Where ’90s Talk Show Powerhouse Jenny Jones Is Now https://www.suggest.com/jenny-jones-now/2719639/ Sat, 28 Jan 2023 17:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2719639 screenshot of Jenny Jonesi n a red blouse smiling in her kitchen

Millions of viewers gravitate to daytime TV talk shows. People flock to watch them because they can be humorous, controversial, shocking, and enlightening. Former hosts like Jerry Springer, Sally Jessy Raphael, and Phil Donohue seemed almost like our personal friends because they came into our living rooms and lives every weekday to discuss subjects—including intimate and embarrassing ones—that riveted many of us.

One popular syndicated talk show host from the 1990s, Jenny Jones, seemed to disappear after enjoying popularity throughout most of her show’s run from 1991 to 2003.

Why was her program canceled and what is she doing now? Her fans want to know, so we looked into Jones’ past and current activities. This is what we learned about what this versatile and resilient woman is up to.

Jones’ Show And The Murder Of Scott Amedure

There was an unforeseen incident stemming from an episode of The Jenny Jones Show that was in a category all by itself. It not only rocked the public to its core but proved to have tragically lethal consequences for an unsuspecting guest.

That show also prompted an examination of whether talk programs like Jones’ sometimes go too far for the sake of a hefty ratings boost and sensational, tabloid-style headlines.

On March 6, 1995, Jones taped a show whose theme was secret admirers. The New York Times reported that a guest on the program named Jonathan T. Schmitz believed that his admirer was female because he claimed that’s what producers of the show told him, according to Lieut. Bruce Naile of the Sheriff’s Department in Oakland County, Michigan.

Naile said that Schmitz saw a woman he knew seated in the show’s audience, which seemed to confirm his hunch that his admirer was a lady.

Naile observed that Schmitz “figured she was his secret admirer and walked up and kissed her. But then they told him: ‘Oh, no, she’s not your secret admirer. This is.’ And out walked Scott Amedure. The show was about men who have secret crushes on men.”

Amedure was gay. Schmitz said on the show that he was “definitely heterosexual.”

Naile claimed that Schmitz was “stunned.” Apparently not sure how to behave or react, he played along with the show’s premise. Schmitz looked conspicuously uneasy, especially when Amadure hugged him when he walked onstage.

He and Amedure had allegedly been introduced weeks previously by Donna Riley, who was the person Schmitz recognized in the audience. She was a resident of Schmitz’ apartment complex.

Schmitz allegedly told police that what happened on The Jenny Jones Show with Amedure had “eaten away” at him. Schmitz said he then discovered an anonymous, sexually provocative note left at his residence, presumably by Amedure.

The Times reported that Naile, the police lieutenant, said that Schmitz purchased a gun and bullets, then traveled to Amedure’s mobile home three days after the show (which was not broadcast at the time due to its aftermath) was taped and “shot [Amedure] twice in the chest,” killing him.

In 1999, Schmitz was convicted of second-degree murder. He was sentenced to prison for 25 to 50 years. Schmitz had gotten the identical sentence three years earlier, but his conviction was subsequently overturned on appeal, The Times reported. Schmitz was paroled in 2017, according to Oxygen True Crime

There was an avalanche of publicity and attention surrounding this crime, including a probing documentary titled Talk Show Murder on Netflix in their Trial By Media: The Truth Behind the Crimes (2020) series.

Amedure’s family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the show, according to Variety. They claimed that Amedure was “ambushed” into being a guest on The Jenny Jones Show and was not aware that the topic was going to be same-sex crushes.

There was a $29 million verdict against the show that was overturned by the Michigan Court of Appeals in 2002. In its ruling, the appeals court said that the show could not possibly have known that Schmitz would later use deadly force toward Amedure.

The ‘Jenny Jones Show’ Was Canceled In 2003

The show’s ratings reportedly slid considerably during its last two seasons. During its final season, The Jenny Jones Show had the unfortunate distinction of being “the lowest rated daytime talk show.” It was canceled in 2003.

That was not the end of Jones’ professional career, however. On her YouTube channel called Jenny Jones Can Cook!, she demonstrated how to prepare flavorful, healthy dishes ranging from meatloaf to cabbage rolls. Jones’ gusto and enthusiasm clearly bubble to the fore as she stands in what could be her own homey-looking kitchen.

With over a million subscribers, it certainly seemed to be a big hit with viewers. Jones also maintains a website by the same name. A quote from her is on the home page: “This is my passion … cooking, baking, but keeping it simple. No ads. No paid endorsements. It’s just me, sharing my recipes with the world.”

She released her autobiography, Jenny Jones: My Story, in 1997. She also published a cookbook in 2007, Look Good, Feel Great Cookbook : How Eating Superfoods Can Help You Turn Back the Clock with Over 80 Comfort Food Recipes. Judging from the rave reviews it got on Amazon, it was a major smash with readers of all culinary skill levels.

She’s An Active Philanthropist

Jones turned her attention to philanthropy in 2005 when she established the Jenny Jones Foundation to assist those who needed a helping hand in this country and Canada (Jones grew up in London, Ontario, Canada). The foundation concentrates on women’s health and education.

She also founded Jenny’s Heroes U.S.A. and Jenny’s Heroes Canada to award funds to people who used the money to improve their community in some meaningful way.

Jones’ Heroes website depicts dozens of her funding recipients and their projects, such as astronomy teacher Milton Johnson, who bought new telescopes for a high school astronomy club in Phoenix, Arizona, with $10,000 from Jones.

Another passion of Jones’ is the well-being of women. To that end, she has been the honorary chairperson of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation’s Chicago Race for the Cure, which raises money each year to support breast cancer research.

Cook County Hospital in Chicago has also benefited from Jones’ generosity. In 2000, she donated a mobile mammography unit to that facility so underserved women could get mammograms.

Jones has dealt with problems from silicone breast implants, as have countless other women. Knowing first-hand how traumatic and distressing such physical issues can be, Jones launched the Image Foundation in 1992 so women could learn more about this condition. After enduring half a dozen surgeries, Jones finally had her implants removed.

She Has Enjoyed An Active Love Life

Jones has had some serious relationships. She wed musician Al Gambino in 1970. Two years later, they were divorced. In 1973, she walked down the aisle with record marketing executive Buz Wilburn. The couple split in 1980. Jones had another marriage that was annulled. As far as we know, she’s currently the partner of film location manager Denis McCallion.

Jenny Jones has not allowed anything to stop her, including the cancellation of her TV show. Jones reinvented herself and relaunched her brand. She became a successful YouTube home cook, author, and philanthropist. Those are impressive accomplishments from a woman who is truly a survivor.

Gabrielle Union’s Glitzy Gown Gave Us Major Flashbacks To This Forgotten Fashion Trend https://www.suggest.com/gabrielle-union-glitzy-gown-gave-major-flashbacks-forgotten-fashion-trend/2719382/ Fri, 27 Jan 2023 21:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2719382 Gabrielle Union smiles in closeup image against purple backdrop

Gabrielle Union sparkled on the red carpet for the January 19 premiere of Truth Be Told. Showing off a glitzy gown at the show’s season three premiere, Union gave us major flashbacks to the forgotten fashion trend of color blocking.

On the red carpet, the actress wore a color-block, beaded Prada dress that descended from top to bottom in three colors. Starting with lime green, the dress then turned to pink and finally to black with a glittery skirt that plunged to the floor.

Letting the outfit speak for itself, Union accessorized with dangling gemstone earrings and several statement rings in gold and silver. She also nailed her evening-ready look with a smokey eye and nude matte lip. To top it off, Union wore her hair in an intricate bun.

Although Union looked glamorous from head to toe, we can’t get over how her look is signaling the return of the color block fashion trend. For those of us who grew up in the ’90s, it’s a fashion statement we remember making.

Everyone Was Wearing It In The ’90s

If you were a child, teen, or young adult in the ’90s, odds are that you had at least one color block item in your wardrobe. From windbreakers and aerobic leotards to oversized jackets and patchwork jeans, you were all that and a bag of chips in your color-block clothing.

Pairing together primary colors and even neon hues, people donned the color block look on-screen, on stage, and even at school. Musicians and actors, such as Will Smith and Salt-N-Pepa, made the trend famous. This isn’t surprising since the ‘90s version was a continuation of the ’80s color-block look that took shape thanks to many hip-hop artists.

The Trend Has Its Roots In Modern Art Movement

While we’re familiar with the ’90s look, color blocking in fashion became famous in the 1960s. In 1965, French fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent created a collection of six dresses that were inspired by the abstract art of Dutch painter Piet Mondrian. The dresses included bold black lines with blocks of white and primary colors, a take on Mondrian’s artwork.

Although Laurent typically receives credit for bringing color blocking to fashion, two other designers used the technique before Laurent. Another French designer, Michèle Rosier, made similar dresses in the 1960s. Plus, in 1963, American designer John Kloss created dresses with the color block technique.

Regardless of when the first color-block dress was invented, we hope that the updated version of the color block is here to stay.

Finding ‘The One’ Won’t Make You A Great Partner: Keke Palmer’s Refreshing Take On Practicing Compassion https://www.suggest.com/keke-palmer-refreshing-take-practicing-compassion-finding-the-one-make-great-partner/2718972/ Fri, 27 Jan 2023 19:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2718972 Keke Palmer smiles in silver sparkly dress

Keke Palmer is wise about more than just what it takes to be a great actress. The star just shared a powerful commentary on love, compassion, and finding “the one” that we all need to hear.

In a recent tweet, Palmer shared her thoughts on a viral TikTok video. The actress began, “I’ve been wanting to do a little video about this for a minute. Check the next clip.”

Viral TikTok Touts ‘Liberating’ Epiphany About Love

The video then cut to a TikTok of a young man sharing what he called “the epiphany of a lifetime.” In the video, the TikToker admitted that he hurt a girl he had been dating.

When the woman brought the pain he caused her to his attention, he told her he cared and their discussion continued. However, when his partner began to cry, he realized that he felt “nothing at all,” and went on to break up with her.

The TikToker continued his story, describing his lack of emotion at seeing his partner cry as “liberating.” He then realized that he may have been “pretending to care this entire time” about the girl he was dating.

Though the end of the video was cut off, we find out he went on to say that he believes he would have cared about hurting this woman if she had been “the one.”

Palmer’s Insight: Compassion Is ‘A Choice You Make’

Apparently, this is a topic that Palmer is passionate about. In fact, she feels very strongly that compassion isn’t necessarily something you’re born with; often, compassion needs to be learned.

As Palmer said, “People assume that when they find the one, they’re going to all of a sudden have these magical qualities that they never had before. If you’re not compassionate, emotionally available, loving, or you’re not choosing…to be that kind of person, it’s never going to happen.”

The actress was quick to point out that she was not trying to take down the guy in the video. Instead, she just wants people to know, “No one (no matter how awesome) can make you be someone you aren’t trying to be.”

She continued by saying that compassion is “something that you learn. Ultimately…if you don’t work for it, you’re never going to have it. No one is going to be able to make you have it. And if you’re expecting them to, they’re always going to lose, love.”

Several people concurred with Palmer on Twitter. As one reply said, “I agree. You either already possess those qualities or you choose to learn how to possess them but it’s not because of a person…it’s a choice you make.”

It’s a great reminder that people usually don’t simply change after finding “the one.” You have to be intentional in order to be loving and compassionate—love is a choice.

Marlee Matlin, Two Others Walked Out Of Sundance Showing Of ‘Magazine Dreams’ Over Accessibility Issue https://www.suggest.com/marlee-matlin-two-others-walked-out-sundance-showing-magazine-dreams-over-accessibility-issue/2719371/ Fri, 27 Jan 2023 17:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2719371 close up of Marlee Matlin smiling in a green dress

Every few years, news comes out of audience members walking out of movies during film festivals like the Toronto International Film Festival or the Venice Film Festival, for example. This year, Marlee Matlin was one of three jury members who left a Sundance screening of Magazine Dreams—and for a very good reason.

Matlin, playwright Jeremy O. Harris, and screenwriter Eliza Hittman walked out of a showing of Magazine Dreams, a drama that was being shown at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. Their reason? The captioning device used by the festival was malfunctioning, leaving Matlin unable to fully experience the movie.

Matlin has been deaf since she was 18 months old and has won an Oscar, a Golden Globe, and four Emmys during her successful acting career. The actress is serving as a jury member for Sundance this year and was frustrated when she was given a captioning device that didn’t work.

Following the walk-out, Matlin, Harris, and Hittman sent a letter to filmmakers at Sundance, writing, “The U.S. independent cinema movement began as a way to make film accessible to everyone, not just those with the most privileges among us. As a jury our ability to celebrate the work that all of you have put into making these films has been disrupted by the fact that they are not accessible to all three of us.” They requested that screenings include open-captioning packages in order to afford all jurors and viewers the ability to fully experience the movie.

Matlin has been a major advocate for the deaf community throughout her career, successfully petitioning the Academy of Arts and Sciences to add subtitles to its awards screeners, as well as pushing the White House to provide onscreen sign language interpreters at press conferences.

The trio’s letter had the impact they wanted; Sundance CEO Joana Vicente replied to the letter, saying that the festival’s goal is to make all movies “as accessible as possible for all participants.”

“Our accessibility efforts are, admittedly, always evolving and feedback helps drive it forward for the community as a whole,” Vicente continued. She did point out that the captioning device worked “without malfunction” at other screenings.

Most might assume that people who walk out of movie screenings are simply being dramatic, but Matlin, Harris, and Hittman’s protest was much needed. Let’s hope that this statement will move accessibility in movies forward in the coming years.

Monica Lewinsky Unwillingly Became Famous 25 Years Ago This Week—Here Are Her Thoughts On How Things Have Changed For Women Since https://www.suggest.com/monica-lewinsky-became-famous-twenty-five-years-ago-thoughts-how-things-have-changed-women-since/2718940/ Thu, 26 Jan 2023 23:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2718940 Monica Lewinsky smiles in navy blue dress with red trim

This week marks 25 years since “the Clinton Scandal” hit the airwaves. On January 21, 1998, news broke that President Bill Clinton had a relationship with White House intern Monica Lewinsky. Overnight, Lewinsky became a household name and inevitably the butt of late-night jokes.

As we mark the 25th anniversary of the scandal, Lewinsky recently shared some interesting thoughts on how things have both improved and regressed for women since 1998. Now 49 years old, Lewinsky isn’t holding anything back.

In a piece Lewinsky wrote for Vanity Fair, the activist and writer shared 25 things she has learned since her infamous relationship with Clinton. While she opened up about her mistakes, being bullied, and how things have changed for women, she also had much to say about compassion, the body-positive movement, and how laughter is often the best way to survive.

‘You Can Make The Right Decision And Still Have Regret’

In the past 25 years, the biggest takeaway for Lewinsky is based on regret. “You can make the right decision and still have regret,” reflected the writer. “Also, don’t judge your insides by other people’s outsides,” she continued and admitted that she learned these lessons from her therapist.

Lewinsky then shared that while many things are better for women today, some things have reverted in society since 1998. As the writer pointed out, “In 2023, we are (sadly) closer to the reality of Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale than we were when the book was published in 1985” (This remark is likely in reference to Roe v. Wade being overturned in 2022.)

Even while abortion rights are bleaker today than 25 years ago, there have been some improvements since 1998. “The blame-the-woman mindset has thankfully receded over time through social conditioning,” Lewinsky remarked.

She then reflected on the scandal that she found herself in. “What began in 1998 as ‘the Lewinsky Scandal’ or ‘the Lewinsky Affair’… underwent a nomenclature upgrade as the years marched on.”

As the writer pointed out, “The culture and the media adapted—at the insistence of many offended observers and arbiters, including [Vanity Fair]—to rebrand the whole narrative as ‘the Clinton Scandal’ or ‘the Clinton Impeachment’ or other taglines that were more in keeping with the original power dynamics.”

After all, when the President of the United States is involved in a scandal, their name should be the leading headline.

Lewinsky also reflected on how bullying has changed since 1998. “As evidenced by some members of the political-operative class in this country,” she wrote, “bullying, both online and in public, has become not only an accepted line of work but an ever-growing profit center.”

While public bullying may not be a thing of the past, Lewinsky is thankful that bullying comedy “has gotten tired.” As the activist pointed out, she was one of the top people Jay Leno made fun of while he was The Tonight Show host. In fact, Lewinsky “was the only one in the top 10 who had not specifically chosen to be a public person.”

Still, Lewinsky chose then and continues to look on the bright side of life. One of the top lessons she has learned over the years includes not taking life too seriously. As she said, “If you can’t laugh at yourself, you are so f*cked.”

‘#MeToo is Now A Baseline, Not An Aberration’

Although Lewinsky did not choose to be thrown into the spotlight 25 years ago, she is grateful that other people willingly stepped into the limelight during the #MeToo movement.

The writer is grateful for all the women who bravely spoke out about being sexual assault survivors. Although sexual assault and violence are still pervasive, more and more people are being held accountable for their actions. As Lewinsky said, “#MeToo is now a baseline, not an aberration.”

Other changes have occurred since 1998 that have helped women and all persons. One such “benchmark of social triumph” as Lewinsky called it is “the freedom to marry whomever one wants was made possible (2015) and protected (2022).”

Another triumph has been the body-positive movement. In fact, Lewinsky is thankful that “the ‘heroin-chic’ emaciation of the late ’90s and early aughts finally went out of fashion. So much so that we now have store mannequins of myriad body shapes and sizes.”

The activist then shared, “I often imagine how such body-positive messaging would have impacted my own self-esteem growing up—and wonder if it might have ameliorated the fat-shaming that other young women of the time experienced.”

Obviously, much has changed for women in the past 25 years. Thankfully, we’re mostly on an upward trend of improving society. However, there is still much work to be done.

As we continue to make great strides, Lewinsky reminds us to offer ourselves “as much compassion as [we] can muster” and know that we, too, “can survive the unimaginable.”

All About Jesse Lee Soffer’s Love Life And Past Girlfriends https://www.suggest.com/all-about-jesse-lee-soffer-love-life-past-girlfriends/2719305/ Thu, 26 Jan 2023 19:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2719305 Jesse Lee Soffer smiles in black top and charcoal blazer against white backdrop

Actor Jesse Lee Soffer made his name by portraying Will Munson in the long-running daytime soap As the World Turns on CBS. His performance on the show garnered him a trio of Emmy nominations. Soffer went on to appear in the TV drama Chicago P.D. from 2014 to 2022.

Soffer’s fans are curious about his romantic doings and whether he has a girlfriend or a wife. This is what we know about his relationships with the ladies he has paired up with and if someone has caught his eye lately.

Jesse Lee Soffer Doesn’t Appear To Have A Girlfriend Now

Soffer, who was born in Ossining, New York on April 23, 1984, seems to be going solo right now. There are no indications that he has been seeing anyone regularly since he broke up with actress Torrey DeVitto in May 2019. He has never been married.

Soffer Dated ‘Chicago Med’ Star Torrey DeVitto For Eight Months

Beginning in September 2018, Soffer was seeing DeVitto, an actress from the TV drama Chicago Med. Soffer enthusiastically confirmed their relationship to Us Weekly when he said, “It’s great, it’s awesome.” Unfortunately, their cozy twosome fizzled in May 2019 after less than one year.

Soffer Was In A Relationship With Sophia Bush From 2014 To 2016

Soffer and Bush crossed each other’s paths in 2014 while they were both acting on Chicago P.D. They were reportedly dating but apparently broke it off in June 2015. They were observed holding hands while walking together in New York City in September by E! News, which ran a snap of them looking like a bit more than just chummy pals.

Bush was sporting aviator shades and wearing a sleeveless, lightweight gray dress with a pair of comfy flats. Soffer was equally relaxed in his choice of an outfit. He wore aviator sunglasses, a button-down shirt rolled up at the wrists, and jeans. Soffer’s right hand was obviously clasped around Bush’s left one.

E! News called their body language “innocent PDA.” The publication hinted that people might be wondering if Bush and Soffer’s relationship could be on again. The signals that might have been interpreted as romantic by some evidently were not because Bush and Soffer went their separate ways by November 2016. Bush left the cast of Chicago P.D. the next year.

Soffer spoke about Bush graciously when she made her exit from the cast. TVLine reported that he said, “You know, it’s always sad when a cast member leaves a show. We’re a huge family, and she’s a huge part of making the show what it was. We all created something together, and so that’s always difficult. But the show must go on. That’s how it works.”

He Was Never With On-Screen Wife Tracy Spiridakos In Real Life

Sometimes when actors portray spouses on TV or in films, they do it so convincingly that folks have the erroneous impression that they are really married to each other or at least romantically involved.

There is always the possibility that people pretending to be wed because of a storyline do fall for each other off screen, as was the case between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie when they were in the movie Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

With Soffer and his TV co-star Tracy Spiridakos, however, if viewers think they see amorous fire, in reality, there isn’t even any smoke. Their chemistry seems utterly natural and unfeigned, so fans of the show can be forgiven for mistaking them for a real-life couple, which they do not appear to be.

On Lie Detector Test, it’s priceless to watch Soffer and Spiridakos as they genially horsed around, clearly at ease with each other and having plenty of harmless fun. He good-naturedly fired questions at her while a solemn-looking technician seated near them registered Spiridakos’ responses on a make-believe lie detector.

“Have you ever had a crush on a co-worker?” Soffer asked her. “For sure,” she quipped, smiling broadly.

But the best was yet to come. Soffer jokingly wanted to know if Spiridakos had ever murdered someone. After a brief, tense pause, she straight-facedly replied, “No,” then dissolved into gales of laughter.

The two do love ribbing each other. When they were interviewed by ET Canada and Spiridakos was questioned about how it was when she first joined the cast of Chicago P.D., she lightheartedly quipped, “Everyone but Jesse was amazing!”

Neither one has indicated or confirmed that they are in a relationship, so it’s reasonable to assume that these two are no more than colleagues and good friends.

Jesse Lee Soffer seems to be enjoying his personal and professional life without outwardly putting loads of pressure on himself to settle down with someone. The romantic relationships that he has had—at least the ones that we are aware of—seem to have run their course and ended in a friendly way.

Soffer is a talented young star whose career is going places and whose romantic life will hopefully stay on the upswing.

TBT: Who Ashley Olsen And Dax Shepard Dated After Each Other Is Even More Surprising Than Their Relationship https://www.suggest.com/tbt-ashley-olsen-dax-shepard-who-dated-after-each-other-even-more-surprising-than-relationship/2719420/ Thu, 26 Jan 2023 17:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2719420 side by side close ups of Dax Shepard and Ashley Olsen in 2007

Last year, Dax Shepard shocked listeners on an episode of his Armchair Expert podcast by revealing that he once dated actress-turned-fashion mogul Ashley Olsen. This previously unconfirmed coupling apparently met at a party sometime around 2006.

Shepard spoke highly of Olsen, commending her for her business expertise, sense of humor, and taste in cars. However, this was a pairing clearly not meant to last. By 2007, both Shepard and Olsen had moved on with other people—and their rebound relationships are somehow even less expected.

Dax Shepard Dated Kate Hudson For A Few Months

Shepard has admitted that he wasn’t a fan of monogamy in the early 2000s, so his relationship history gets a little bit fuzzy around that time. His next confirmed relationship, though, was with Kate Hudson in 2007. While this coupling had been cloaked in mystery, Hudson actually appeared on Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast in 2019, and they took a stroll down memory lane.

As Shepard tells it, he and Hudson met in Toby Maguire’s backyard and immediately hit it off, but they were in relationships with other people. About a year later, they met up for dinner—although they still weren’t looking for something romantic. However, as they were leaving the restaurant that night, they thought it would be funny to trick the paparazzi into thinking they were on a date.

“While we were there, we said, ‘Wouldn’t it be funny if we came out holding hands and I was your new boyfriend?’” Shepard recalled. “We were just pals.” However, in typical rom-com fashion, they weren’t able to deny their very real chemistry. The pair dated for a few months before ultimately realizing they had different priorities. Shepard credits Hudson with helping him realize he wanted to settle down and have kids.

Hudson, on the other hand, already had a son and had just finalized her divorce from Chris Robinson. According to the actress, she wasn’t looking to start all over again so soon. Thankfully, both Hudson and Shepard can look back on their time together fondly. Later that same year, Shepard met his wife Kristen Bell at a party and the rest was history.

Ashley Olsen Had Brief Fling With Lance Armstrong

It’s clear that, like Shepard, Olsen had no problem moving on from their short-lived romance. In 2007, Olsen made headlines for her rumored relationship with professional cyclist Lance Armstrong. According to a Page Six report from the time, Olsen and Armstrong were spotted getting cozy at a bar.

There weren’t many other credible sightings of the couple from the time. However, in 2014, an investigative tell-all about Armstrong later alleged that the then-36-year old father of three caught flack from his friends and co-workers for his fling with the 21-year-old fashion designer.

According to the book Cycle of Lies, Armstrong’s friend John Korioth told him, “Whoa, dude, bad idea. You’ve got to put a stop to this right now.” Apparently, Armstrong’s friends were worried about what the relationship would do to his public image. However, undeterred, Armstrong allegedly responded, “She’s 21 … F*ck you.”

It’s unclear when their fling fizzled out, but it couldn’t have been long after they got together. By 2008, Armstrong had moved on to his next high-profile romance with…wait for it…Kate Hudson! It just goes to show that, in Hollywood, everyone knows everyone.

Paula Abdul Got Slammed In The Comments For Heavily Edited Photos, But Is That Fair? https://www.suggest.com/paula-abdul-got-slammed-in-comments-heavily-edited-photos-is-that-fair/2718908/ Thu, 26 Jan 2023 13:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2718908 Paula Abdul smiling in a black sweater during rehearsal for the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade 2022

Be honest, have you ever enhanced a photo that you’ve shared online? From filters to color editing and even using the Face Beauty feature on your phone, the answer is most likely yes. Thankfully, most of us aren’t scrutinized for our highly edited photos like celebrities are.

In a recent Instagram post, Paula Abdul showed that she is forever your youthful-looking girl. After attending a holiday party, the singer posted several pictures and videos of the celebration. Although the “Opposites Attract” singer looked stunning in a beautiful green dress, it wasn’t her clothing that made a splash on social media. Instead, it was her obviously edited face.

The former Laker Girls was immediately slammed for her photos. As one user said about Abdul, “The first photo you like you are 12!” Another person shared, “What in the overly edited photos are these?! Ladies, this is beneath you. And a terrible example for young women.” One Instagrammer even asked, “Is that Paula Abdul’s daughter?”

After reviewing the six photos and one video in the carousel, it’s no surprise that fans have questions for the choreographer. After all, the singer is hardly recognizable in the photos. Plus, the 60-year-old star looks nowhere near her age.

The question is, are these comments fair? Should Abdul be slammed for posting pictures of herself that are heavily edited? The short answer: no!

Women in Hollywood already have enough pressure to look a certain way. In fact, female celebrities often are forced to get plastic surgery and other procedures in order to maintain a youthful glow as they age. At the very least, many celebrities have makeup artists that can easily take off several years just with the stroke of a contour brush.

Plus, should we be criticizing anyone due to how they present themselves online? From highly edited photos to branding ourselves and carefully curating images on social media, most of us noncelebrities choose how we present ourselves to the world. And yes, that includes editing our photos.

A few replies to Abdul’s post reflect this sentiment. As one person said, “You know how much makeup young women put on! Leave Paula alone. I seriously doubt this would impact someone’s life! These young women look up to the Kardashians!!” Another user simply shared, “Paula you look gorgeous!!! Forever in your 20s!!!”

We agree! Abdul and all women should have a choice in how they present themselves online. The only important thing about the singer’s photos is that she looks like she’s having an absolute delight of a time.

Why The Burial Garden At Graceland Is Controversial For Some Elvis Presley Fans https://www.suggest.com/elvis-presley-why-burial-garden-graceland-controversial-some-fans/2719271/ Wed, 25 Jan 2023 21:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2719271 Photo of Elvis Presley's grave with lots of flowers and momentos showered over it

On Sunday, hundreds of friends and fans flooded the Graceland burial garden to honor the memory of Lisa Marie Presley. However, fans of the singer may not know that the burial grounds at Graceland have been the subject of various controversies and conspiracies ever since Presley was laid to rest there in 1977.

Why Elvis Presley Is Buried At Graceland

Few people know that Presley wasn’t originally buried at Graceland. Immediately after his death, the rock and roll legend was laid to rest near his mother in Forest Hill Cemetery in Memphis.

However, just a few months later, graverobbers threatened to steal his coffin, prompting Presley’s father, Vernon, to exhume his body and rebury him in the meditation garden at Graceland.

Vernon also had Elvis’ mother, Gladys, moved to Graceland, creating a private family graveyard on the property. Today, the graves of the Presley family attract legions of tourists every year, serving as a place where fans can pay their respects to the famous family.

Why People Believe The King’s Grace Is Empty

Given the circumstances surrounding Presley’s burial, fans and conspiracy theorists have speculated that the King of Rock and Roll doesn’t actually rest at Graceland.

Of course, there are those who believe Presley faked his death in 1977, which would mean he couldn’t have been buried at the original gravesite at all. These theorists cling to alleged sightings of the legend, insisting that he never really died.

However, other theories actually suggest Presley and his family are resting in another private cemetery and the Graceland meditation garden is just for show. The primary piece of “evidence” for this conspiracy theory is in the headstones.

Gladys’ original headstone apparently had the Star of David engraved into the stone as a tribute to her Jewish heritage. However, her Graceland headstone does not.

Similarly, Elvis’ middle name is spelled “Aaron” on his headstone while it’s spelled “Aron” on his birth certificate. It’s these little inconsistencies that suggest the possibility that the mediation garden serves as just a memorial site rather than a cemetery.

Who Else Is Buried With Elvis?

Of course, this would suggest that the other Presley family members supposedly resting in the meditation garden are actually buried elsewhere as well.

In addition to Elvis and Gladys, Vernon and his mother, Minnie Mae Presley, were also laid to rest at Graceland. When Lisa Marie’s son Benjamin Keough died by suicide in 2020, he was the first person buried at Graceland in over 40 years.

Sadly, Lisa Marie followed her son less than three years later as the sixth and most recent Presley family member buried at Graceland.

As the public is still mourning Lisa Marie’s passing, we see why so many people feel the need to keep the Presley family alive through conspiracy theories.

The truth is that, whether it’s a symbolic memorial or a legitimate gravesite, Graceland is an important part of the Presley family history and is as good a place as any to pay tribute to their memories.

Why Cindy Crawford, Lady Gaga, And Others Swear By The Health Benefits Of Infrared Saunas https://www.suggest.com/why-cindy-crawford-lady-gaga-others-swear-by-health-benefits-infrared-saunas/2717703/ Wed, 25 Jan 2023 19:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2717703 circular photo of Cindy Crawford smiling placed over a stock photo of an infrared sauna

In recent years, infrared saunas have become all the rage. After all, celebrities like Cindy Crawford and Lady Gaga have long praised these saunas for their health benefits. But do infrared saunas really make a difference? Turns out, studies have shown that they can help with both physical and mental health!

Since infrared saunas use infrared lamps to make heat, the magic happens when the light penetrates your skin, and you begin to sweat. Plus, the temperatures in infrared saunas are usually between 110 and 135 degrees Fahrenheit, making them cooler and more comfortable than a traditional sauna that can reach 195 degrees.

Infrared saunas also come with many health benefits. According to the Cleveland Clinic, these saunas can improve heart health, soothe sore muscles, and even reduce pain. They also help reduce chronic pain—just ask Lady Gaga.

Back in 2017, Lady Gaga shared that she has long suffered from fibromyalgia. For the “Born This Way” singer, infrared saunas have been a great way to deal with her chronic pain. “When my body goes into a spasm,” Lady Gaga shared on Instagram, “one thing I find really helps is an infrared sauna.”

Beyond helping with chronic pain and heart conditions, other celebrities such as Cindy Crawford and Jennifer Anniston use infrared saunas post workouts. In an interview with Allure, Crawford remarked, “I love my infrared sauna, which I use after my workout. My husband put a TV in it, so it’s easy to make it through a half an hour.”

Aniston agrees. “I love the infrared sauna,” Aniston told People. “I discovered it a few years ago, and it went from a little portable igloo thing that you put your body in to a little sauna we have now in our gym.”

Infrared saunas can also help fight off illnesses with better sleep and relaxation. In fact, studies have shown that these saunas can decrease depression, anxiety, and stress. For someone like me who has a difficult time getting through the cold and dreary winter season, using an infrared sauna has certainly been a mood booster.

If you’re thinking about using an infrared, just be sure to check with your doctor, especially if you have any underlying health conditions. You should also keep in mind that starting with a short amount of time is important before working your way up to a 30-minute session, which is the maximum amount of time the Cleveland Clinic suggests.

Plus, staying hydrated while in the sauna is key. You may need even more than your typical 32-ounce water bottle! It’s also recommended to rinse off afterward so that the toxins you’ve sweated out aren’t reabsorbed in your skin.

Whether to help with pain, sore muscles, or stress, infrared saunas are a great tool to look in to for your health!

Al Roker Shares What May Have Saved His Life After Recent Health Scare And Why It’s Never Too Late To Get Healthy https://www.suggest.com/al-roker-shares-saved-life-after-health-scare-never-too-late-get-healthy/2718883/ Wed, 25 Jan 2023 17:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2718883 Al Roker smiling in a red suit

Al Roker is still recovering after his lengthy stay at the hospital and his home following complications caused by blood clots. Part of that recovery includes continuing healthy lifestyle choices, from his diet to his fitness routine.

The Fitness Routine That ‘Helped Save’ Roker’s Life

Roker has been very open about his health struggles and has shared some tips with TODAY fans about some of the things doctors say helped him survive this terrifying time. “My doctor said the physical condition I was in because of the walking—because of the cardio—that probably helped save my life,” he said

“Whatever you do to start moving, to start getting up and doing stuff—it doesn’t matter how much or how little as long as you’re doing something—that makes a big difference,” he continued.

The Today anchor joked that he was given some health advice that he’s never received before. “I’ve heard something that I’ve never heard in my adult life, which was ‘Oh you’ve got to gain weight,’” Roker laughed.

He explained, “Because of my blood work, my doctors said you need more protein. I went from 190 pounds to 155 pounds.” This weight loss is common, and Roker is working on putting back on the pounds, telling fans he’s back to 165 pounds.

Roker’s New Diet Includes ‘Good Fats’ And Mediterranean Meals

Roker also shared that he’s had to focus a little more on his diet, especially now that his gallbladder has been removed. He explained that his doctors want him to eat more protein, so he’s trying to only eat “good fats.”

“Last night for dinner, we had salmon, quinoa and roasted brussels sprouts and salad,” Roker listed off. “And at night, I had a scoop of ice cream. As opposed to eating the entire pint, I just had a scoop.”

He’s also been working on his skills in the kitchen, sharing that he and his wife Deborah Roberts are “mov[ing] toward a Mediterranean diet.” This means more grains, like quinoa, brown rice, and sweet potatoes.

“When we eat red meat, it’s not as much as we used to get,” Roker went on. “Now a good bone-in ribeye, the three of us will eat that and most of the meat is being eaten by Nick [his son, 20]. Now that he’s going back to school this weekend, we’ll actually have food in the house for longer than an hour.”

From continuing his cardio routine to making smart choices about what he eats each day, Roker is keeping his health at the forefront of his mind as he works to fully recover. His work to change his diet and fitness habits show that it’s never too late to make healthy changes!

Sarah Michelle Gellar And Freddie Prinze Jr. Just Appeared On Red Carpet Together For The First Time Since 2007 https://www.suggest.com/sarah-michelle-gellar-freddie-prinze-jr-just-made-first-joint-red-carpet-appearance-fifteen-years/2718703/ Tue, 24 Jan 2023 23:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2718703 Freddie Prinze Jr. (L) and Sarah Michelle Gellar smiling together on red carpet

Since the early aughts, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. have proven that acting couples really can go the distance. They are an anomaly as far as Hollywood marriages are concerned. Howard Stern memorably bet Prinze in 2002 that their marriage wouldn’t last 10 years. Thankfully, the radio host was wrong; last year, Gellar and Prinze celebrated 20 years of marriage.

Now, the couple is putting their love on display once again. On Thursday, Gellar and Prinze made their first red-carpet appearance as a couple in over 15 years. The event was in anticipation for Wolf Pack, a new Paramount+ series produced by and starring Gellar. The series is being touted as a descendant of Gellar’s iconic teen series Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

The Couple’s Scene-Stealing Ensembles

For the red carpet, Gellar donned an absolutely stunning mini dress. The piece was constructed with a sheer material overlayed with gorgeous floral details. She topped off the look with large, eye-grabbing earrings and a subtle-glam makeup look.

Prinze also brought his A-game to the red carpet. The She’s All That star went with an all-black ensemble, pairing a black top and trousers with a sleek bomber jacket. He also got the memo about accessorizing, accenting his look with a fedora and striped fingerless gloves.

Gellar and Prinze first met on the set of their 1997 film I Know What You Did Last Summer, but they didn’t start dating until 2000. In 2002, the couple co-starred in the live-action Scooby-Doo film as Fred and Daphne. Later that year, they tied the knot in an intimate Mexico wedding.

Gellar took a step back from acting in the early 2010s to focus on raising her and Prinze’s two children, Charlotte Grace and Rocky James. She recently made a triumphant return in the 2022 Netflix film Do Revenge and is back in full force with her new Paramount+ series.

Gellar And Prinze Jr.’s Marriage Is Stronger Than Ever

In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Gellar revealed that her daughter, Charlotte, wants to follow in her famous parents’ footsteps and join the acting business. However, the Cruel Intentions star insists she won’t let Charlotte start working until she graduates high school.

In the interview, she also revealed that, 20 years later, she and Prinze are still the picture of marital bliss. Prinze even gave a rare statement about his wife, praising his wife for her time on working on Buffy.

“She had to deal with a lot of bullsh*t on that show for all seven years it was on,” he told the publication. “The stuff they pressed upon her, without any credit or real salary, while she was often the only one doing 15-hour days… yet she was still able to get the message of that character out every single week and do it with pride and do it professionally.”

That isn’t to say that Gellar isn’t still proud of the show, though. She told the publication that her kids have seen Buffy and are big fans. It remains to be seen if they’ll be tuning into Wolf Pack, though. The first episode of the new series will be available to stream on January 26.

Bob Dylan Now: A Status Update On His Life And Health In 2023 https://www.suggest.com/is-bob-dylan-still-alive-health-now/2632428/ Tue, 24 Jan 2023 21:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2632428 LOS ANGELES, CA - FEBRUARY 13: Musician Bob Dylan performs onstage during The 53rd Annual GRAMMY Awards held at Staples Center on February 13, 2011 in Los Angeles, California.

Bob Dylan has certainly cemented his place as one of the greatest and most prolific songwriters of modern music history. From folk revival classics like “Mr. Tambourine Man” and “Blowin’ in the Wind” to the 1974 rock-driven record Blood on the Tracks, the “voice of a generation” has sold over 125 million albums and earned ten Grammys.

While many are familiar with his work—or, at the very least, his name—not all may be up-to-date on Dylan’s health. His aloof demeanor, a trademark of his since the ’60s, exacerbates this mystique even further.

We take a look at Dylan’s wellness, work, and life as of this year.

The Early Days Of The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan

Bob Dylan, born Robert Allen Zimmerman on May 24, 1941, in Duluth, Minnesota, took the world by storm as a vanguard of the 1960’s folk revival movement. Whether your mind wanders to his classic 1963 The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan or his rock-driven work of the ’70s and ’80s, we typically associate Dylan with the mid-20th century music scene.

Dylan garnered even more international acclaim with the formation of The Band and The Rolling Thunder Revue, two outfits that toured the world and featured outstanding talents in their own right. He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1988.

In 2012, he received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from former President Barack Obama, who said, “there is not a bigger giant in the history of American music. Then, in 2016, he won a Nobel Prize in Literature “for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition. This was the first time a musician had earned the prestigious award

Throughout his decades-long career, he has undergone countless musical transformations. From duets with Johnny Cash to Christian complications and seemingly everything in between, Dylan’s influences and style have been as turbulent and malleable as the changing times he crooned about in 1964.

However, he boasts a tremendous career in both the arts and otherwise. From 2006 to 2009, Dylan hosted a satellite radio show called Theme Time Radio Hour. He has also published books of his lyrics and art, the latter of which has been featured in many galleries. Dylan has also released literature, including his memoir Chronicles: Volume One and a collection of prose and poetry titled Tarantula.

In 2018, Dylan went into the distilling business with liquor entrepreneur Marc Bushala to create a trio of Heaven’s Door Spirits, including a Tennessee straight bourbon, double barrel whiskey, and straight rye whiskey. To avoid appearing like a vanity project, the Heaven’s Door team kept the brand name subtle and included Dylan’s signature on the bottle’s back, so it’s only visible once the bottle is empty.

Two years later, the singer-songwriter sold his songs to Universal Music Publishing Group. While Dylan still retains exclusive rights to his work, songwriter income, and copyrights, Universal will take in profits from Dylan’s work going forward. The deal included over 600 songs for over $300 million, though some estimated it was closer to $400 million.

How Is Bob Dylan’s Health Today?

Dylan has made a career of being a sullen-eyed, wild-haired vagabond. But how does that translate to the soon-to-be 82-year-old’s health? As of late last year, the songwriter was on his second leg of the Rough and Rowdy Ways World Wide Tour. While the tour is slated to last through 2024, there are currently no upcoming tour dates on his website.

We’re unsure whether this has to do with any health-related issues, although it wouldn’t be the first health scare the singer has experienced. In the 1960s, he was in a serious motorcycle accident before taking time out of the public eye in Woodstock in the ’70s.

In the late ’90s, Dylan went to the hospital for chest pain that turned out to be histoplasmosis, an infection from fungus. According to Express.co.uk, his agent, Barry Dickins, gave an update, saying “the infection is potentially fatal. He will remain at the hospital until his condition is stable and he has improved.”

After several weeks, the histoplasmosis morphed into pericarditis, which causes the tissue around the heart to swell and become painful. Doctors told him he would be better in a month or so, after which Dylan shared, “I’m just glad to be feeling better. I really thought I’d be seeing Elvis soon.

Besides these two incidents, there have been no major credible updates regarding the musician’s health.

Channing Tatum Calling His Divorce From Jenna Dewan ‘Super Scary’ Is Actually So Refreshing https://www.suggest.com/channing-tatum-jenna-dewan-calling-divorce-super-scary-actually-so-refreshing/2718668/ Tue, 24 Jan 2023 21:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2718668 Channing Tatum (L) and Jenna Dewan pose on red carpet

Channing Tatum isn’t afraid to get in touch with his feelings. In fact, The Lost City actor is getting real about his divorce from Jenna Dewan, and it’s super refreshing.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Tatum opened up about his relationship with Dewan, why they split, and all the feelings he experienced during and after their divorce. Turns out, the Magic Mike actor learned from his experience, even though it was difficult to do so during the divorce.

The Couple Split After Welcoming Their Daughter

Tatum and Dewan met back in 2006 when they both starred in the dance movie Step Up. Although their relationship reflected the movie plot of a professional dancer and a rough street dancer, their off-screen relationship took a toll on both of them.

“We fought for [our relationship] for a really long time, even though we both sort of knew that we had sort of grown apart,” Tatum admitted. “I think we told ourselves a story when we were young, and we just kept telling ourselves that story, no matter how blatantly life was telling us that we were so different.”

Becoming parents to Everly Elizabeth Maiselle Tatum, now 9, showed the ex-couple that they weren’t meant for each other. “When you’re actually parents,” Tatum remarked, “you really understand differences between the two of you. Because it is screaming at you all day long. How you parent differently, how you look at the world, how you go through the world.”

The Split Helped Tatum Get In Touch With His Feelings

Once Tatum and Dewan decided to stop going through the world together, the actor got in touch with his feelings. “It was super scary and terrifying,” he shared. “Your life just turns on its axis. This whole plan that you had literally just turns into sand and goes through your fingers and you’re just like, ‘Oh, sh*t. What now?’”

It’s a familiar experience for anyone going through a divorce. Most people are scared in the beginning and have a difficult time facing a new way of life. But just as Tatum described, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

“It was probably exactly what I needed. I don’t think I would’ve ever done the work, I think, on myself in the way that I had to do the work on myself to really try to figure out what next. And really, it just started with my daughter. I just dropped everything and just focused on her. And it was truly the best possible thing that I ever could have done.”

While divorce and other major life changes can be scary, it’s refreshing to see celebrities like Tatum getting in touch with their feelings. We can all take a lesson from the actor and do what’s right for us, even if we’re scared.

Dakota Johnson’s Head-To-Toe Denim Red Carpet Look Has Us Reevaluating Everything We Know About The Rules Of Fashion https://www.suggest.com/dakota-johnson-head-to-toe-denim-red-carpet-look-reevaluating-rules-fashion/2717936/ Tue, 24 Jan 2023 17:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2717936 Dakota Johnson poses in all-denim outfit

Dakota Johnson recently stepped out onto the red carpet in an ensemble that goes against all the rules of fashion. In fact, we’re reevaluating our fashion sense after seeing Jonhson’s chic look.

On January 19, Johnson turned heads at the Sundance Film Festival when she attended Sundance Institute’s ”Opening Night: A Taste of Sundance” in Park City, Utah. Foregoing the typical dress and glamorous pants suit, the 33-year-old actress upped the ante with a triple-denim look. And she definitely made it work!

The Iconic Look In Question

While an all-denim look typically includes a denim top paired with jeans, Johnson added a new level of sophistication to the Canadian Tuxedo.

On top, the Fifty Shades star wore a midriff-baring denim corset by Magda Butrym under a double-breasted jean jacket. The matching pieces were paired with high-waisted tapered jeans, complete with pleated detailing in the same wash.

With such a bold look, Johnson chose minimal accessories, allowing the denim to speak for itself. The actress accessorized the ensemble with a Jessica McCormack diamond pendant necklace and black pointed-toe pumps.

To keep all eyes on her chic denim look, Johnson also opted for minimal hair and makeup. She wore her brunette locks loose with her signature bangs and went for a rosy makeup palette with soft pink lips and cheeks.

While the celebrity’s hair and makeup were standard for her, the denim look has us rethinking the Canadian Tuxedo and how we can also bring sophistication to it.

The Trend Has Been Around For Quite A While

But where exactly did the term Canadian Tuxedo come from? According to legend, the term originated in 1951 with Bing Crosby, when he and a friend were denied entry to a Canadian hotel because they were wearing jeans.

Afterward, Levi’s designed a denim tuxedo for Crosby so that he could have a formal denim look. Since then, head-to-toe denim ensembles have gone in and out of style.

While many of us will never forget the matching denim ensembles that Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake wore to the 2021 American Music Awards, Johnson’s look adds a new wave of chic to the look. Other stars, such as Hunter Schafer, have also jumped on the Canadian Tuxedo bandwagon.

As denim continues to trend, we can’t wait to see more Canadian Tuxedo looks this year!

Regina King’s First Instagram Post In More Than A Year Heartbreakingly Commemorates Her Son’s Life https://www.suggest.com/regina-king-son-instagram-post-suicide-anniversary/2717696/ Tue, 24 Jan 2023 15:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2717696 Regina King and Ian Alexander Jr. at the 45th NAACP Image Awards

It’s been a whole year since Regina King last posted on Instagram, but she recently returned to the app to share something intensely personal. The actress posted a touching tribute to her son, Ian Alexander Jr., whom she lost at this time last year.

Before Alexander’s death, King posted fairly regularly, uploading red carpet shots, promotional pictures for her upcoming projects, and videos of her spending time with friends and family. These days, King seemingly prefers to stay away from social media. However, she returned to Instagram to mark the occasion of Alexander’s birth and celebrate his life with a moving post.

“January 19th is Ian’s Worthday,” she wrote under a video of a floating lantern, referring to her son’s birthday. “As we still process his physical absence, we celebrate his presence. We are all in different places on the planet … so is Ian. His spirit is the thread that connects us.”

She continued, writing directly to her son, “Of course orange is your favorite color … [It’s] the fire and the calm. I see you in everything I [breathe]. My absolute favorite thing about myself is being … Regina the mother of Ian the GodKing. Continue to shine bright, my guiding light.”

Many of King’s friends showed their support under the post, sending messages of love. Tracee Ellis Ross posted a string of orange hearts, while Niecy Nash wrote, “My friend. I think of you often. I always pray for your strength & peace in the midst of loss and grief. I love you.”

King Was ‘Devastated At The Deepest Level’ By Her Son’s Death

Alexander died by suicide on January 22, 2022 at the age of 26. King released a statement at the time, saying, “Our family is devastated at the deepest level by the loss of Ian. He is such a bright light who cared so deeply about the happiness of others. Our family asks for respectful consideration during this private time.”

Alexander was a musician and DJ who had released a new single, “Green Eyes,” just two weeks before his death. He also had a series of concerts planned for the weeks following his passing.

Alexander was King’s only child. She shared him with her ex-husband, record producer Ian Alexander Sr. King likes to stay off social media these days, but fans and friends alike appreciated getting the chance to lend their support during this time and were inspired by the way she’s processed the loss of her son.

Gotye Continues To Make Music With Some Creative Projects: Find Out What He’s Doing Now https://www.suggest.com/what-happened-to-gotye/2718805/ Tue, 24 Jan 2023 13:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2718805 Gotye holding up two grammys in a black suit and tie

The name Gotye may not ring a bell, but a song he performed that was released in 2011 will—“Somebody That I Used to Know.” It was a huge hit that went multi-platinum in ten nations, charted in the top ten in over 30 countries, and became the top-selling tune of 2012.

Those impressive milestones clearly made the song a big commercial and popular success. What has happened to Gotye, a triple Grammy Award winner, since then?

He has been likened to superstars such as Sting and Peter Gabriel, yet despite his popularity and talent, he seemed to vanish from the entertainment scene. Was Gotye someone who made an enormous splash with a song only to retreat into obscurity?

His fans are eager to know if Gotye has more music in the works. We checked it out. Here’s the lowdown on what he’s been up to professionally.

Gotye Announced His Hiatus As A Single Artist In 2014

Gotye, otherwise known by his actual name, Wouter André “Wally” De Backer, was born May 21, 1980 in Bruges, Belgium. However, his family soon moved to Australia when the musician was 2.

In an online newsletter in 2014, De Backer announced, “There will be no new Gotye music.” Then he immediately qualified that statement with this one: “Wait, maybe there will be. I’m not entirely sure right now. There are many contingencies.”

One of those considerations he mentioned was the supposed loudness of the world and what he believed was the corresponding rise of “early onset deafness.” De Backer admitted that he pondered such potentially apocalyptic developments.

There was another announcement from De Backer in 2014, this time about the launch of an independent record label called Spirit Level. It was a joint effort between him and a friend of his since his teen years, Tim Shiel. Spirit Level was eventually shelved and then reactivated in 2016, according to Howl & Echoes.

De Backer Continued To Perform With The Basics

The Basics is an Australian musical group that De Backer formed in 2002 along with Kris Schroeder. Another musician, Tim Heath, linked up with them in June 2004. The Basics’ style is highly eclectic, encompassing such diverse genres as pop rock, country, reggae, electro pop, and folk.

The Basics’ web site described the band with this droll, unassuming comment; “They’re pretty silly but the music is rather good, especially on a Saturday night.”

De Backer has done vocals and drums for the group since its formation. They have released five studio albums between 2003 and 2019 and five live albums between 2010 and 2020. They toured both in Australia and internationally between 2014 and 2016.

In 2021, Noise11 reported that The Basics planned to quit touring. They said that family and career demands, plus the emergence of COVID-19, were factors that motivated their decision.

Their announcement also featured the following explanation of why there would not be a farewell tour: “Now we could have announced a ‘goodbye tour’ or show, or had a record to sell or something to capitalize on this announcement. But we’ve always tried to be as genuine as possible, and so with respect to our decision have no such finale to offer.”

They left the door open on the possibility of resuming live gigs at some unspecified future time. The Basics’ members said they still intended to continue recording.

He Launched The Ondioline Orchestra In 2016

You’re not alone if you have never heard of a musical instrument called an Ondioline! It’s a forerunner of the contemporary synthesizer that was invented in 1941 by Georges Jenny, a French poet and musician, according to The Guardian.

Ten years later, in 1951, the instrument got a nice public relations boost from one of its leading proponents, Jean-Jacques Perrey. He enthusiastically touted the Ondioline’s virtues in the United States for a decade before returning to his native France.

Enter De Backer, with his seeming affinity for the unusual and knack for pushing musical boundaries. He rhapsodized about the Ondioline much as Perrey had. He apparently saw its exciting possibilities and remarkable versatility.

“I loved it—it has such an effervescence to it,” De Backer said. “On the surface it has a simplicity, it may be very charming and very childlike, but there’s also a real musical muscularity.”

De Backer was actually so passionate about the Ondioline that he traveled to Switzerland in 2013 to meet Perrey, who by that time, was in his 80s and had rheumatoid arthritis and dementia. Still, De Backer was thrilled to make Perrey’s acquaintance. He even learned French so he could converse with his idol more easily!

“The main feeling I came away with,” he said, “was that I had met a kindred spirit—I describe it as having met my grandfather, my spiritual grandfather.”

De Backer’s homage to Perrey took two forms. He curated a collection of Perrey’s recordings and released them on an album called Jean-Jacques Perrey Et Son Ondioline. He also formed the Ondioline Orchestra as a way of honoring and promoting the Ondioline and the glorious music he believed it could produce.

Besides De Backer, the Orchestra’s members include Joe McGinty, Rob Schwimmer, and musicians from the band Zammuto. In fact, the Ondioline Orchestra’s debut concert was a tribute to Perrey and his music three years after Perrey died in 2016. De Backer also performed at Mixology Festival 2018: Circuit Breakers with Gotye Presents a Tribute to Jean-Jacques Perrey.

De Backer just could not say enough about the Ondioline. “You can dial in an incredibly wide range of sounds on the Ondioline,” he explained, “and the unique mechanics for playing it allows you to create sounds very sensitively and with a musical deftness I just feel isn’t present on most other electronic instruments from the ’40s—or decades since.”.

Almost as though he were protecting an endangered species (there actually are not a whole lot of Ondiolines around), De Backer created a non-profit called Forgotten Futures to get the word out about this instrument, promote the work of its creator Georges Jenny, and ensure that there is a sufficient amount of Ondioline spare parts.

He Has Teased The Possibility Of A New Gotye Album

Amidst all his other activities, De Backer has not forgotten about Gotye. In 2017, he said, “I hope I can have some new stuff out before the end of the year.”

The next year, De Backer said that he had “ventured to send Jean Jacques [Perrey] a demo of a tribute song I’d made to him. This is a song that’s going to be on the next Gotye record.” So coming back into full-blown Gotye mode is still obviously on his mind, but maybe not with a set-in-stone timetable.

Wally De Backer, better known as Gotye to most, is a music visionary who focuses more on artistry and craftsmanship than making cash registers ring. He prods boundaries and defies what is predictable.

Although De Backer may not be producing more chart-toppers like “Somebody That I Used to Know” right now, he has been incredibly busy working on meaningful projects that ignite his imagination—and ours as well.

Jessica Simpson Posts Rare Photo With Sister Ashlee And Their Mom https://www.suggest.com/jessica-simpson-ashlee-posts-rare-photo-sister-mom/2717925/ Mon, 23 Jan 2023 15:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2717925 Jessica Simpson (L) in black dress and Ashlee Simpson in gray sweatshirt

It looks like this weekend was all about family time for Jessica Simpson and her sister Ashlee! The pair met up with their mother Tina for a birthday celebration, and Jessica shared a rare picture of the occasion.

“We are because She is…” Jessica captioned a photo of the group. “Thank you Mom for living 62 years of life to the very fullest. You inspire unwavering strength and determination with the purest of hearts. Hero status, indeed. We had a beautiful week celebrating our Mom- the natural born small and mighty!”

Tina commented on her daughter’s post, writing, “I love you @jessicasimpson even more that you said I was 62 not 63!”

In the photo, Jessica is wearing a glamorous silver and black sequined jacket and a statement necklace with turquoise beads. Ashlee is sporting a black top and leopard printed purse, coordinating with Tina, who is also wearing a black top.

Fans loved this rare glimpse of Jessica’s relationship with her sister. The pair is close, but Jessica rarely posts pictures of her younger sister.Jessica’s followers also loved seeing Tina, and many commented on how much she looks like her daughters.

“She looks like she can be one of your sisters,” one person wrote. Another commented, “I think she’s aging backwards! Literally had to zoom in to make sure this was her! She looks like a 3rd sister!”

Jessica And Ashlee’s Close Relationship

While both sisters prefer to keep their family relationships out of the spotlight, Ashlee made a rare public comment about Jessica in 2020 after the Dukes of Hazzard star published her memoir, Open Book

“I am so very proud of my beautiful, brave, kind, loving sister!!!” Ashlee wrote under a picture of the book’s cover. “It’s beautiful to see you sharing your truth with the world. You are so inspiring. I love you so much.”

Jessica’s reply was just as sweet: “I could not have done any of this without your eternal love and endless support!!! Your bravery in life has taught me how to bandage up my wings and FLY I love you”

Even though Jessica and Ashlee don’t post a lot about their relationship or the time they spend together, it’s clear the sisters are extremely supportive of each other!

Taylor Neisen: All About Liev Schreiber’s 25-Year Younger Girlfriend https://www.suggest.com/taylor-neisen-liev-schreiber-all-about-younger-girlfriend/2716803/ Mon, 23 Jan 2023 13:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2716803 Liev Schreiber in a black suit smiling with his arm around a laughing Taylor Neisen in an eggshell colored dress

Liev Schreiber clearly has proven that he’s got the multi-faceted talent to be a true Hollywood force. A gifted screenwriter, actor, narrator, producer, and actor, he has demonstrated meticulous craftsmanship in each of those capacities.

Schreiber tends to guard his private life from public view and bothersome media observation, with the possible exception of his now-ended romance with actress Naomi Watts.

There seems to be another lovely blonde lady in Schreiber’s life these days (she resembles Watts!), and his fans are agog about their relationship. Who is Taylor Neisen, and what is her background?

We wanted to know. This is what we uncovered about this glamorous Tinseltown twosome.

Who Is Taylor Neisen?

Born on June 6, 1992, Neisen is a professional model and has been a beauty pageant contestant. She was formerly Miss South Dakota and competed in the Miss USA pageant in 2012.

Neisen seems to be an animal lover, as she rehabs raccoons. She posted a great pic of herself on Instagram gently cuddling one of them. The animal must have sensed her kindness because it appears totally relaxed.

Neisen’s long blonde hair is worn loose in the snap, She has a white t-shirt on with something that’s not quite visible emblazoned across the front. With her understated pieces of silver jewelry including earrings, a ring, and a bracelet, her look seems completely fashionable yet unfussy.

Neisen cares about the raccoons she tends to even after she sets them free. She monitors them as best she can after they depart into the wild.

In the accompanying text, Niesen wrote in part, “Rehabbing these babies is so bittersweet. When they’re strong enough for release, I feel incredibly proud and happy but also selfishly sad that I must say goodbye. I put motion-sensor cameras outside because I’m a helicopter mom and seeing the footage makes me mushy inside…”

Neisen And Liev Schreiber Have Reportedly Been Together Since 2017

This pair’s togetherness doesn’t seem like a flash in the pan. Schreiber and Neisen have been an item for some years and are apparently still going strong.

That said, in October 2017, his rep at the time, Ina Treciokas, put their connection in a much different context,  reportedly telling the Daily News that they “are friends and she sometimes helps out with the kids—they are not dating.”

In photos published with the story, Schreiber and Neisen are walking along and enjoying ice cream cones. He’s clad in a lightweight shirt that is untucked while she sports a black tank top and jeans. They seem informal, uninhibited, and at ease with each other.

They do have a significant age gap. Schreiber was born on October 4, 1967, making him 25 years older than Neisen.

They aren’t bashful about posting about each other on social media. There is a photo of a beautiful birthday cake for her on Schreiber’s Instagram. It bears the words, “Happy Birthday TayTay!” across the top, which also features a large photo of her holding one of her beloved raccoons.

Schreiber posted the message, “All the critters are so happy you were born today! Most of all me.”

There is also a sweet message for Neisen from his former flame, Naomi Watts: “Happy birthday Tay!!”

Schreiber Previously Dated Naomi Watts

Schreiber and Watts were two actors who seemed like a sure bet to last a long, long time together. Even though they never wed, they were a couple for 11 years, an eternity in Hollywood when it comes to the duration of a romance. They appeared destined for another decade with each other, and maybe another decade after that.

Then, in September 2016, according to People, came the pair’s bombshell announcement – they were calling it quits.

“Over the past few months we’ve come to the conclusion that the best way forward for us as a family is to separate as a couple,” their statement explained. They share two sons—Samuel Kai Schreiber and Alexander (Sasha) Pete Schreiber.

Marriage, according to Watts, was just not a big deal for them, People reported. Watts reportedly said in 2012, “We’re very much together. We just don’t have that certificate, and that’s okay with both of us. Maybe one day, we’ll just wake up and go ‘Hey, let’s do this.’ And maybe not.”

The “maybe not” option apparently won.

Schreiber and Watts had a meet-cute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s legendary costume gala in New York in 2005. Watts reportedly invited Schreiber to go dancing with her after the event. When he arrived, Watts was already the center of attention from two acting heavyweights, Benicio Del Toro and Sean Penn.

Schreiber found it off-putting. “I think I was nervous, and I felt very embarrassed being there, and self-conscious, because all these movie stars were hovering, and I felt … awkward and out of my element.”

Even so, he hung in there. Watts reportedly gave him her phone number and their relationship took off. They subsequently co-starred in a film, The Painted Veil (2006).

Schreiber seemed to have fallen hard for Watts. “I decided I was going to make a family with this person. For better or for worse, I stepped into a partnership with somebody. We were gonna bring kids into this world and try to love and respect each other.”

Since their breakup, Watts and Schreiber have worked hard to stay on friendly terms and co-parent effectively. She told Net-A-Porter in 2019 that, “I’m pretty proud of us, corny as that may sound. We’ve made it our absolute priority to be good and kind to each other and we’re absolutely committed to that.”

Schreiber and Watts even isolated together during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic to make life less stressful for their boys, according to the Daily Mail in 2020. Neisen isolated with the Schreibers!

All that is fascinating because the Australian edition of Woman’s Day reported in 2017 that Watts and Schreiber reportedly had an understanding that neither one would pair off romantically with anybody else publicly for “at least a year after their split.”

That unverified report aside, it seems Watts and Schreiber must have smoothed over any differences, perhaps in the best interest of their kids.

Although the exact nature of their relationship is not etched in stone, Liev Schreiber and Taylor Neisen certainly seem like a couple that has overcome a big age gap to forge a mutually caring partnership. He and his ex Naomi Watts deserve a lot of credit for maintaining a healthy friendship that has enabled them to co-parent their children after they ended their romance and allowed them to move on with new relationships.

The Tragic Stories Of Pedro Pascal’s Mom And Dad https://www.suggest.com/pedro-pascal-tragic-stories-mom-dad/2717664/ Sun, 22 Jan 2023 23:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2717664 Pedro Pascal smiling in a suave black jacket and suit with black rimmed glasses

Pedro Pascal is one of the biggest actors in both film and television right now. From starring in blockbusters like Wonder Woman 1984 to hit shows like The Mandalorian and The Last of Us, the actor is everywhere these days. His life might seem charmed, but Pascal’s family life has been marred by tragedies.

Pascal was born in Santiago, Chile, in 1975 to Verónica Pascal Ureta, a child psychologist, and José Balmaceda Riera, a fertility doctor. The family fled the country shortly after his birth due to their political affiliations. They sought asylum in Denmark before finally settling in the United States.

In 1993, Pascal moved to New York City and enrolled at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Two years later, his family was rocked by a scandal involving his father and the fertility clinic he ran alongside two other doctors.

Pascal’s Father Fled The Country

Dr. Balmaceda was world-famous for his innovative fertility treatments, but in 1995, he and his partners were accused of stealing patients’ eggs and embryos and implanting them in other women without their knowledge or consent.

Around 40 former patients filed lawsuits against Balmaceda and his partner, and some even filed lawsuits against other patients, seeking custody of children they claim are biologically theirs.

Balmaceda, his wife, and the family’s two youngest children went back to Chile—allegedly to avoid the criminal charges and lawsuits. He was labeled a fugitive and indicted on twenty counts of mail fraud for insurance billing. Pascal and his sister stayed in New York and the actor maintains that his father did nothing wrong.

Unfortunately, this was not the end of the family’s troubles. In 1999, Pascal’s mother committed suicide. Pascal took her surname as his professional moniker to honor her memory. In 2001, Balmaceda was arrested at the Ezeiza Airport in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and held for extradition to the United States.

Pascal’s father was released and told not to leave Argentina but returned to Chile before his court hearing. Balmaceda claimed he would not be able to find justice under Argentinian law. Today, he serves as the director of the Latin American Assisted Reproduction Network, overseeing clinics in Chile, Peru, and Bolivia. He maintains that he is innocent of all charges

Pascal remains close with his father—Balmaceda shared the family has a WhatsApp group chat—but does not typically speak about his parents publicly. Many of Pascal’s biggest fans have no clue about the tragedies that impacted his family while he was still a young man.

Get To Know ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic’s Wife, Suzanne Yankovic https://www.suggest.com/weird-al-yankovic-wife-get-to-know-suzanne-yankovic/2717673/ Sun, 22 Jan 2023 21:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2717673 Weird Al (L) and his wife Suzanne smile together, both wearing black outfits

“Weird Al” Yankovic has been remarkably successful as a humorist, singer, record producer, musician, author, and songwriter. His musical parodies of superstars like Madonna, Lady Gaga, and Michael Jackson established his reputation for witty riffs on pop tunes we all know.

One writer deconstructed the essence of Yankovic’s magic: “Whatever is popular at the moment, Yankovic can hack into its source code and reprogram it” (via The New York Times).

There’s a special woman who shares in Yankovic’s life and success. He married Suzanne Krajewski in 2001 and they have been together ever since. We took a peek into the background of “Weird Al” Yankovic’s wife. Here’s what we learned about her.

Who Is Suzanne Yankovic?

“Weird Al” Yankovic (born Alfred Matthew Yankovic) met his wife when they were each settled into their professional lives, he as a musician and parodist extraordinaire, she as a 20th Century Fox marketing executive and skilled photographer.

They seemed, at least on the surface, to have been an unlikely match. That was actually not totally the case. Many who know Yankovic have said that he is reserved, respectful, and agreeably low-key when he is offstage.

It was Bill Mumy, the actor/writer/musician from the campy 1960s TV series Lost In Space who got Yankovic together with the lady who became his bride. She balked a bit at first. According to Rolling Stone, Krajewski had some misgivings about meeting him.

“I thought to myself, ‘Oh, I don’t know about this,’” she reflected. “Then I thought, ‘That’s kind of shallow of me to just be looking at a persona. People are often so different than how they appear.’ And we clicked immediately.”

The pair took things slowly. They chatted by phone a lot before they met in person. When they did finally see each other, Yankovic was clearly smitten.

“I hadn’t even seen her, but I already had a major crush,” he admitted. “She was asking me all these questions about my life and I said, ‘You can just watch my VH1 Behind The Music tomorrow.’ I guess we did get married a little late in life, but neither one of us had been married before and neither of us intends to be married again.”

Yankovic and Krajewski tied the knot on February 10, 2001 and share a daughter, Nina, who was born in 2003.

Yankovic seems to worship her. “She’s such an ideal kid,” he said. “She likes playing outside, animals and nature. I was always watching TV at her age. Where did we go right?”

In Many Ways, The Yankovics Are Complete Opposites

This is a celebrity couple whose differences work for them, rather than pulling them apart. According to The New York Times, they “are classic opposites: He is internal and unobservant and can disappear into his head for days at a time; Suzanne is chatty and social and hyper-present.”

Yankovic doesn’t throw tantrums. He won’t even swear. His wife has tried to lovingly goad him into uttering a naughty word now and then, but he steadfastly refuses. She might say to him, “C’mon, honey, it’s just us” to persuade Yankovic to speak a profanity or two at home, but his lips remain sealed.

The whole family, including their dog, savors the outdoors. The Yankovics live in the Hollywood Hills, and they love hiking as well as basking in the open air on their deck.

Their daughter described what they typically do. “All four of us get into the tent,” which is situated on the deck, she said. “We take out mini marshmallows and put them on sticks and roast them over a candle. It’s really fun. Sometimes an owl comes onto a tree and we look at him with binoculars.”

Suzanne Has Helped Weird Al Overcome A Tendency To Hoard

As Vice reported, Yankovic seems to hate parting with anything. That habit can lead to massive, uncurated piles of objects. His wife has gotten him to pare down his vast collections of things, however,  such as shirts—hundreds of which she sent to Goodwill—and piles of old fan mail he kept stashed in a storage locker.

“We live in a nice house on the Hollywood Hills and we’re trying to not have it cluttered full of my junk,” Yankovic explained. “I have a lot, and some I need to hold onto for sentimental reasons, but we’re trying to live uncluttered lives and that’s difficult when you’ve had a long life and career, and there’s so many trinkets and mementos that you want to keep with you.”

Their Home Has Quite A History

The Yankovics’ home has a pretty intriguing backstory. The late rapper Heavy D formerly lived there, as did “marijuana advocate” Jack Margolis, Wired reported

“I don’t know if he remodeled it, but a lot of things here in this house are very Heavy D-sized,” Yankovic noted to Rolling Stone. “My wife is a wee woman, she’s not very tall, and it’s difficult for her to stand at our bathroom counter because they’re a little taller than normal. So everything in this house is a little oversized.”

Yankovic also thinks that the house may have served as a set for adult films. A film starring Andy Garcia called Internal Affairs (1990) could have been filmed there, too.

Weird Al Yankovic has eked out a unique niche in pop culture for himself. His is a classic “nice guy makes good” tale, rounded out by the caring presence of his wife and daughter. In Suzanne Yankovic, he seems to have found the perfect mate.

How To Make Friends When You’re Older, According to Jane Fonda https://www.suggest.com/jane-fonda-how-make-friends-when-older/2717574/ Sun, 22 Jan 2023 15:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2717574 Jane Fonda smiles in black top against dark purple backdrop

The struggle is real when it comes to making friends as adults. As children, we seem to easily make friends at school and in our neighborhoods.

For those of us who are more extroverted like me, befriending people was a no-brainer when we were kids. I can vividly recall making friends on the outdoor McDonald’s playground, a staple that defined my ’80s and ’90s childhood.

However, even for us extroverts, making friends while adulting is difficult. Due to heavy workloads, having children, and getting stuck in our own routines, befriending others is simply not a priority. Thankfully, Jane Fonda has the answer to making and keeping friends for adults of all ages.

Fonda’s Advice: ‘You Have To Pursue People’

In a recent interview with CBS News Sunday Morning, Fonda and a few of her well-known friends, Lily Tomlin and Sally Field, discussed the importance of friendship. Although the three actresses star in the upcoming film 80 for Brady, they’re also friends in real life.

But becoming friends didn’t happen by chance for the three actresses. Fonda pursued Tomlin and Field because she wanted to be friends with them. Turns out, being intentional is the secret to making and maintaining friends.

According to the On Golden Pond actress, “You have to pursue people that you want to be friends with.” Once you do this, “It works. People hear that and then they stick around and you develop new friendships.”

Field and Tomlin admitted that it was only because of Fonda’s constant pursuance that they even became friends. Field even turned to Fonda and reminded her, “Oh, goodness sake. I couldn’t make you stop!”

Tomlin also chimed in and said, “I don’t really like people that much.” However, both Tomlin and Field appreciate that Fonda pursued them because of the friendships that they now have with one another.

During the interview, Fonda also shared that friendships “are very important to our health.” Turns out, the actress is right. Studies have shown that friendships increase our sense of belonging, boost happiness, lessen stress, and improve our self-confidence (per Mayo Clinic). Plus, friendships provide an outlet for coping with trauma, grief, and everything that life throws our way.

After the stress and anxiety that many of us experienced during the height of the pandemic and perhaps even now, it’s important that we seek out friendships. I’ve made it one of my goals this year to “pursue” (to use Fonda’s words) more female friendships. If it’s better for my mental and physical health, I’m all for it!

Marie Osmond Reiterates Stance On Passing On Her Fortune, Calls It A ‘Great Disservice To Your Children’ https://www.suggest.com/marie-osmond-reiterates-stance-passing-fortune-great-disservice-children/2717276/ Sat, 21 Jan 2023 23:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2717276 Marie Osmond smiles in yellow cardigan over patterned dress

Most people assume that being the child of a celebrity means living a privileged life. For Marie Osmond’s kids, though, that is not the case. The singer has repeatedly discussed her intentions to not leave her children an inheritance.

Osmond is a mother of eight—Stephen, 39; Rachael, 31; Jessica, 35; Brandon, 26; Brianna, 24; Matthew, 23; and Abigail, 18; and Michael, who died by suicide at the age of 18 in 2010—and a grandmother to eight more little ones.

Marie Osmond Thinks A Large Inheritance ‘Breed[s] Laziness And Entitlement’

The singer might have plenty of wealth to share, but she’s made it clear she has no intention of handing her children or grandkids money or a career. “Honestly, why would you enable your child to not try to be something?” she told Us Weekly. “I don’t know anybody who becomes anything if they’re just handed money.”

“To me, the greatest gift you can give your child is a passion to search out who they are inside and to work,” Osmond explained. “I mean, I’ve done so many things…I love trying [and] I wanna try everything. I’m a finisher.”

She continued, “That’s one of my rules with my kids. If you start it, you finish it, you don’t ever have to do it again, but you gotta finish. And, I just think all [an inheritance] does is breed laziness and entitlement. I worked hard and I’m gonna spend it all and have fun with my husband [Steve Craig].”

This isn’t the first time Osmond has talked about her decision to not leave her family members a hefty inheritance. “I think you do a great disservice to your children to just hand them a fortune because you take away the one most important gift you can give your children, and that’s the ability to work,” Osmond said during an appearance on The Talk. “You see it a lot in rich families where the kids, they don’t know what to do and so they get in trouble. Let them be proud of what they make. I’m going to give mine to my charity.”

She Adds ‘I Don’t Not Help My Children’

That’s not to say that Osmond doesn’t lend a hand to her family when they need it. “I don’t not help my children. I mean, [if] they need help [buying] a car or something, [I will pitch in,]” Osmond she said. Osmond’s plans to not give her children a large inheritance when she passes away is indicative of her belief in the value of hard work—something that many admire about the star.

From David Bowie To Meg Ryan: 9 Celebs You Probably Didn’t Know Used Stage Names https://www.suggest.com/david-bowie-meg-ryan-ten-celebs-you-probably-did-not-know-used-stage-names/2717181/ Sat, 21 Jan 2023 19:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2717181 Side by side image of David Bowie (L) and Meg Ryan

Your favorite actor or actress might have changed their name long ago. Such decisions aren’t usually made haphazardly. There are often valid and sometimes complex personal or professional reasons for doing so.

A birth name could be tricky to spell or pronounce. Maybe a celebrity wants to shield their family from unwelcome attention, so they take a new name.

Sometimes a name just does not align with the persona that a star—or their employer—wants to project to audiences, so it gets ditched for another, more suitable one.

For example, Cary Grant was born Archibald Leach. During Hollywood’s Golden Era, when powerful movie studios autocratically controlled everything having to do with their stable of on-screen talent, someone’s name was considered a key element of what made them appealing to moviegoers.

The name Cary Grant was thought by the suits at Paramount Pictures, where he signed on in 1932, to be ideal for this suave actor who exuded dapper sophistication. Much more so than Archie Leach!

In addition, rules of the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) state that no two actors can have the exact same name. That could prompt a performer to add a middle initial to their name, or simply assume a totally new first and last name.

There are some fascinating backstories behind celebrity name changes. Here are a few we think you’ll find illuminating and fun to read about.

1. David Bowie

One of this chameleon-like performer’s earliest on-stage incarnations was Ziggy Stardust, his exotic, androgynous alter ego from the early 1970s—but that was not his permanent stage name.

Bowie’s birth name was rather bland: David Robert Jones. The British musician wanted a new moniker, but he sought to sidestep any mix-ups with another youthful pop star of that era, Davy Jones of The Monkees, according to KXAN-TV the NBC affiliate in Austin, Texas via Time

For his stage name, he turned to Texas lore. According to author John Lyons, who wrote America in the British Imagination: 1945 to the Present, Bowie reportedly liked a classic Western movie starring John Wayne, The Alamo (1960). A man named Jim Bowie gained renown from his role in the Battle of the Alamo. (He and his brothers are credited with inventing the Bowie knife.)

Lyons wrote that the singer took the name Bowie to honor him. Who would ever link David Bowie with a figure from 19th-century American history?

2. Diane Keaton

The star known for her riveting portrayal of crime boss wife Kay Corleone in the Godfather films was born Diane Hall. Her nickname, according to The List, is Annie, thus the title of the Woody Allen-directed comedy for which she won an Academy Award for best actress in 1978.

She took the name Keaton because she was informed that another person named Diane Hall was already in the actors’ union. Keaton is reportedly her mom’s maiden name.

3. Audrey Hepburn

She was a lady of consummate dignity and poise whose chic fashion style was her trademark in films like Charade (1963) and Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961). What her birth name was is not totally clear, which just adds to her mystique.

Hepburn’s obit in The New York Times stated that it was Edda van Heemstra Hepburn-Ruston. Other sources claim that she was born as Audrey Kathleen Ruston. Her father, Joseph Victor Anthony Ruston, altered his name to Hepburn-Ruston, reportedly because he thought—wrongly, as it turned out—that he was related to James Hepburn, who was married to Mary, Queen of Scots. From all those names, the name Audrey Hepburn emerged—and it stuck.

4. Charlie Sheen

Sheen’s dad is actor Martin Sheen. Martin’s birth name was Ramon Antonio Gerardo Estevez. He still laments the long-ago decision he made to change his name in order to make himself more marketable in the entertainment business.

As for Charlie, whose birth name was Carlos Irwin Estevez, he reportedly went with the name Charlie Sheen to prevent confusion with an uncle whose name was also Carlos Estevez (per The List). He also reportedly said that he did not feel very connected with his Spanish heritage while he was growing up. Charlie’s brother, Emilio, and his sister, Renee, both retained the last name Estevez.

5. Miley Cyrus

She was born Destiny Hope Cyrus. That name just didn’t seem to suit this effervescent young woman. Her parents, singer Billy Ray Cyrus and Tish Cyrus, said that she was a frequent smiler as a baby, so she got the nickname Smiley. Later on, it was abbreviated to Miley. In 2008, Cyrus legally changed her name to Miley Ray Cyrus, with Ray being in honor of her father and her grandfather, Ronald Ray Cyrus (per The Things).

6. Joaquin Phoenix

You might be wondering how Joaquin Rafael Bottom became Joaquin Phoenix. The answer has to do with the Academy Award-winning actor’s parents.

They once belonged to what The List referred to as “a religious cult,” the Children of God. That organization eventually disbanded, so the Bottoms figured they would rename themselves to mark their new spiritual reset. Joaquin went by the name Leaf Phoenix—his brother and sister’s names were River and Rain, respectively—until he finally returned to his original first name.

7. Natalie Portman

This actress’ impressive talent has kept her front and center for years, ever since her breakout turn in The Professional (1994) when she was just 13.

Even as a young teen, she had astonishing range and power as an actress. Her ability attracted attention like a magnet, yet she prefers to stay on the periphery of the limelight, not an easy thing to do when you have an Academy Award on your shelf. Portman was born Natalie Hershlag (per Marie Claire). To safeguard her family’s privacy, she took the name Portman from her paternal grandmother.

8. Winona Ryder

Geography has something to do with Winona Ryder’s first name. She was called Winona by her parents after Winona, Minnesota, which is her birthplace. Her birth surname is Horowitz, so where did Ryder come from?

This gets kind of complicated, because Ryder reportedly told The Hollywood Reporter that her family changed their name from Tomchin to Horowitz when they immigrated to Ellis Island. Ryder, who is of Russian-Romanian descent, said that last name belonged to one of her father’s favorite singers, Mitch Ryder, so she picked it. Thus, Winona Ryder came to be.

9. Meg Ryan

This charming actress whom we know from roles in films like Top Gun (1986) and When Harry Met Sally (1989) came into the world with a pretty lengthy handle: Margaret Mary Emily Anne Hyra. That would have been a lot to remember, even for her most ardent fans. The List reported that Ryan opted for a shorter, snappier-sounding name when she decided to join SAG years ago. Ryan is actually her maternal grandmother’s maiden name.

No matter what the reason for a celebrity’s name change, the choices they made about what to call themselves give us some valuable insight into their family background and their take on stardom itself. It’s hard to imagine these and other A-listers going by any other name than the ones we have come to know and love.

The Refreshing Reason Why Mariah Carey Is Allegedly Filing For Full Custody Of Her Children Shared With Nick Cannon https://www.suggest.com/mariah-carey-nick-cannon-refreshing-reason-allegedly-filing-full-custody-children-shared/2717484/ Sat, 21 Jan 2023 17:00:00 +0000 https://www.suggest.com/?p=2717484 side by side photos of Mariah Carey smiling in a black and white dress and Nick Cannon in a black leather jacket and top

Over the past few years, Nick Cannon has welcomed a dozen children into the world. With so many kids to care for and a busy schedule to boot, Cannon certainly has his hands full. Turns out, his hectic schedule may be the reason Mariah Carey is allegedly filing for full custody of the two children she shares with Cannon.

Although Cannon is now the father of 12 children, the first two kids he had were with the award-winning singer. Even though the Wild ’N Out host and Carey divorced in 2014, the two appear to have a healthy co-parenting relationship. Cannon even posted an Instagram reel of a water park takeover he did with their 11-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan Cannon.

However, the recent birth of Cannon’s twelfth child is prompting Carey to sing a different tune. After all, the “Fantasy” singer probably never imagined that the father of her children would be called dad by 10 other kids. That may be why she’s supposedly seeking full custody of their twins.

According to sources close to the situation, Cannon is a “doting” father but just doesn’t spend much time with the twins. Although Cannon is certainly a hard-working family man, his intense schedule and obligations leave little time for him to spend with his children.

“The reality of the situation is that Monroe and Moroccan are usually with Mariah anyway,” the source said. “Nick doesn’t see much of them.”

By filing for full custody, Carey hopes to send a message to Cannon that he can’t have a revolving door relationship with their children. The source went on to say, “She wants to put him on notice that he can’t just flit in and out of their lives while he attends to his other children. And she wants legal standing as the twins’ primary caregiver.”

Carey obviously spends a lot of time with the twins. Just scroll through her Instagram feed and you’ll see several pictures of the singer with the twins. From going on amusement park rides and midnight sleigh rides to birthday celebrations, Carey certainly appears to be a loving mother who spends a lot of time with her children.

On the other hand, Cannon has recently opened up about having guilt for the limited time he has to spend with all of his children. In a recent episode of The Checkup with Dr. David Agus, Cannon admitted, “Being a father of multiple kids, it’s always the biggest guilt on me is that I don’t get to spend enough time with all my children.”

As Carey and Cannon work out a new custody agreement, fingers crossed that Monroe and Moroccan don’t get caught in the middle. Hopefully, Carey and Cannon can quickly and amicably reach a new agreement that’s best for their kids.
